  1. Gallo scares the hell out of me. No thanks. Count me in on this one! No doubt he has extreme power and will hit 40-50 HRs but that K rate is insane. He is still young so sure, he could improve his plate discipline but I get the feeling he's thinking about nothing besides hitting a homer every time he steps to the plate. He's just another Mark Reynolds as far as I'm concerned. Not like that is so bad but I'd rather have someone else be the centerpiece of a trade for luc. Count me as three on this one. I see his floor as a Mark Reynolds/Chris Carter/Russell Branyan type. If I am trading Lucroy, I want a player whose floor is more than those guys. Trading Lucroy is likely the last deal that could bring elite talent and while Gallo could be an elite talent, his floor scares me to death. I'll gladly sacrifice 10-20 of his 40+ HR if we can acquire a player who will also hit .280-.310.
  2. I just have to say how appreciative I am of the Brewers having a promotional schedule for Spring Training. For the uninformed, they have the previous season's leftover bobbleheads and give them away at Spring Training. So for 2016 Spring Training, they have 2015 bobblehead giveaways. Living in Los Angeles and getting back to Milwaukee only once or twice per season makes it difficult to collect Brewers bobbles in the way I want to (i.e. actually attend the game and not purchase them). Last season, I was able to go to Spring Training on the Yount and Chorizo bobbles at Maryvale. This year, I already have tickets for the Molitor and Selig bobbles and may make it a third time for the K. Davis one. Wish they would have had the Deer one but they must have no leftovers. After looking at all other teams in the Cactus League, the Brewers are the only ones currently showing a promotional schedule. For this, I am grateful. Thanks Brewers.
  3. @Hammer: I hear you on the pitching. My ideal, dream scenario is Lucroy for Giolito straight up. I would be very comfortable with a rotation of Giolito, Nelson, Peralta, Jungmann, Davies with Hader, Lopez, Houser, Williams and Medeiros potentially coming. However, I think the Brewers need to target elite prospects and Giolito is likely not going to be dealt. Given this, I look at the Rangers and Nationals and see Brinson and Trea Turner as the likely jewels of any deal with those teams. If it's Texas, Brinson and Tate. If it's Washington, Turner and Robles (if we have to add to get Robles it's probably worth it). I put my faith in Stearns & Montgomery that they will be able to draft and develop pitching better than their predecessors.
  4. Agreed on Brinson. Brinson and Tate and I call it a day.
  5. It's pretty hideous on all jerseys. I can't believe they would not just eliminate this for "authentic" purchases through MLB.com. Glad I got my authentic retro before they switched to this: http://images.footballfanatics.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productImages%2F_2342000%2Fff_2342783_full.jpg&w=600 http://images.footballfanatics.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productImages%2F_2327000%2Fff_2327876_full.jpg&w=600 http://images.footballfanatics.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productImages%2F_2342000%2Fff_2342779_full.jpg&w=600
  6. Oh man...what I wouldn't give for a Burnitz bobblehead with that whirlwind swing of his! I might fly to Milwaukee for that game.
  7. It's amazing. Seems like everyone loves this jersey. It is also my all time favorite Brewers jersey. I would gladly hand over $200 for an authentic button up or pullover to get this jersey.
  8. I also love "Curt" Russell in Big Trouble in Little China... Sorry Raw...I couldn't help it
  9. I think this is becoming my hope as well. I love the speed and average combo that Arcia, Phillips and Turner could all possibly bring up the middle. Add Domingo Santana to that in LF and you are starting to talk about a real solid young core at four positions. And if, and I am really crossing my fingers here on this one but I have always loved his approach, Garin Cecchini can just manage to put up a line similar somewhere between his 2013 AA (.296/.420/.404) and 2014 AAA seasons (.263/.341/.371) for a line of (.280/.380/.385) we might have something going here. Even though he doesn't have much HR pop, we wouldn't need Cecchini to be much more than a doubles machine with that line. I know, I know...hope springs eternal. However, I am very optimistic about what that offensive core could bring if they reach even 80% of their potential.
  10. Love this idea...combining this deal with a potential Lucroy to the Rangers for say Brinson & Tate deal and the farm all of a sudden looks rather outstanding. While the MLB team might be 2002-ish bad, the future would sure look bright. For fun, if they could pull off these deals, the Brewers would have 7 of the top 61 prospects according to MLB.com #6 Arcia, #16 Brinson, #32 Phillips, #36 Tate, #48 McMahon, #57 Lopez, & #61 Hader.
  11. Cubs, Dodgers, Padres or White Sox for me... I prefer NL baseball and the strategy involved. My entire family, outside of me (Los Angeles, California), was born in Wisconsin or Minnesota, so I don't have the little brother syndrome that so many Wisconsinites rightfully have in regard to Chicago and their superiority complex. I spent summers in Milwaukee growing up but those included riding with my dad around the Chicago area and listening to Cubs and White Sox games, as well as Chicago sports radio. Much like if the Packers left, I would become a Bear fan. I just don't have the same animosity towards Illinois that most have on this board.
  12. Turner/Giolito and Ramos for Lucroy is what I want if we are doing business with Washington. I ideally would like an ace type pitching prospect over a gaggle of prospects for Lucroy. I would do Giolito for Lucroy straight up. However, if we had to settle, I think filling the keystone with Turner to go with Arcia wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
  13. Cecchini and Middlebrooks were failures at their past teams and most guys with upside don't get released at positions of a general lack of talent at the MLB level. At best, they are low risk, low ceiling change of scenery types that could possibly become replacement level starters in MIL. If I were the Brewers FO, I wouldn't make any trades with Lucroy with those two in mind, since they arent guys who will block anyone with real talent. They may have been failures at their old spots but they were both highly regarded prospects coming up through the minors. They are both a couple of lottery tickets that have the potential to pay off. Maybe Milwaukee is a place where they can realize their potential. Nowhere in my original post did I say do not acquire Gallo because of Cecchini or Middlebrooks. I only asked that if one or both turn out could Gallo play 1B.
  14. How would people received an alternate jersey using the retro yellow with navy contrasts with the same hat as what's being introduced now? I think that would at least look quite a bit better than the gold "cervaceros" jerseys. Can the yellow stand alone as a primary jersey color, or is it best to use that as an accent like this new jersey is doing? This wouldn't bother me in the least. I like it for the A's http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/101/files/2014/12/brandon-moss-josh-donaldson-mlb-baltimore-orioles-oakland-athletics-850x560.jpg
  15. I am personally excited about the potential of Cecchini and Middlebrooks at 3B. While neither may ultimately be an average MLB 3B, I would be willing to give either/both the chance, with the loser being the backup at 1B/3B/PH. The thinking here is if the Brewers were to acquire Gallo, can he play 1B? If Cecchini and Gallo both pan out at 3B and 1B, and with the influx of Arcia, Phillips and Santana, the rebuild could occur quicker than anyone could have anticipated.
  16. Agreed with the M with barley. By itself it is a classic. However, this is the only redeeming quality of the current brand. The jerseys with the awkward and inconsistent script placement, the Times Roman numeral font, the shimmery gold....all lack anything memorable and I for one will be glad when the current jerseys and logo have been fully relegated to Brewer history.
  17. I am ready for the full bore modern retro rebrand. Ridding the team of the shimmery gold and replacing it with yellow is a great start. In terms of the royal blue (retro) versus navy blue (current), I could care less as long as it uses the ball and glove as the main logo. Ultimately, I have always longed for the home jersey to be pinstripe with the ball and glove logo over the heart, similar to the Yankees "NY" home jersey. A modern retro classic that I could see being in place for decades.
  18. Huh? The amount of vitriol towards Braun by some Brewer fans is no longer appropriate. The guy has done nothing but try to rebuild his reputation since his suspension and attempts to make a presence in the community (see Thanksgiving 2015). To continue to hold his PED suspension against him while he has shown nothing but contrition regarding his mistakes is pettiness defined.
  19. Perhaps my fandom is outweighing my better judgment on this one, but I would prefer Braun remain with the Brewers long term. While I love the idea of re-building and going with a youth movement, I feel watching what remains of Braun's elite-ness may be one of the only sources of enjoyment as the Brewers rebuild. It would be fun to see where his final statistics rank on the all time Brewers lists, even if some of you feel they are hollow given his PED usage.
  20. Typical... As I get older, the less interested I become in a sport that doesn't allow for an even financial playing field for every team in the sport. Not saying that I wanted a rebuilding Brewer team to sign Price, but I have become very disenchanted with the economics of baseball with elite talents constantly going from small to large markets.
  21. Love it! Wish he was still here but we're rebuilding and he helped bring some good pieces back. It's fun to root for him and Carlos in Houston.
  22. I find it interesting that so many want Davis moved when, from some of the things I have read, Santana profiles as a similar player to Davis. Big power, .240-.260 AVG, takes walks. Not sure on his D but sounds awfully similar to Davis.
  23. Sure I am in the minority on this one and I know if would never happen but... I hate the video boards in LF. I miss the old hand-operated scoreboard the stadium had when it first opened. Felt it was a good mix of new (retractable roof) with old (hand-operated scoreboards). Love it. Love the idea of a transparent roof and panels. While I love the roof and that no matter what a game will be played, I hate Miller Park when the roof and panels are closed because it feels "inside." Baseball and football were meant to be played outside. I think the Indianapolis Colts have transparent roof panels and the Minnesota Vikings are looking into. Would definitely be something I would love to see the Brewers invest in.
  24. Stopgap was the point. Not part of the long term solution but an adequate player until a better option comes along. I'd rather see Valencia than Hernan Perez or Matt Dominguez.
  25. Would really like this pickup for a rebuilding Brewers team. Make the move.
