  1. Simply amazing... The video isn't real clear but I see Kintzler, Thornburg, Henderson, Smith and "Wang Chung". Who else? EDIT: Is that Duke and the Interpreter?
  2. How will Chris Carpenter explain this to his kids?
  3. Glad that we won't have any suspense tonight...what time are the Bucks on?
  4. I think the Cards "scuffling" is due to Mike Shannon continually pronouncing Yovani's last name as "Guh-Lardo" despite Yovani being in the big leagues since 2007. KARMA BABAY!
  5. Maybe we could give Gomez a breather and start Weeks in CF? In all actuality, this may be as good a chance as any to see if Rickie can play a different position as poorly as he plays 2B.* *I love Rickie Weeks too FYI
  6. Oh...my...god. This lineup is scary: 1. Gomez 2. Herrera 3. Gennett 4. Davis 5. Overbay 6. Reynolds 7. Bianchi 8. Maldonado Praying to not get no hit tonight.
  7. 17-11 4 @ CIN (2-2) 3 vs ARI (2-1) 3 vs NYY (2-1) 3 vs PIT (2-1) 3 @ CHC (2-1) 4 @ ATL (1-3) 3 @ MIA (2-1) 3 vs BAL (2-1) 2 vs CHC (2-0) Hope we split the last 2 in StL, and we ride into June at 37-19.
  8. Lohse...but I think Gallardo would get the ball given how he pitched in Game 1 and Game 5 of the NLDS versus Arizona. My guess at what Roenicke would run out there in order is: 1. Gallardo 2. Lohse 3. Garza 4. Estrada
  9. If Schafer were healthy, I think he would have been taking some playing time from Davis already. Once he is off the DL, I could see Davis and Schafer falling more into a platoon role. On that note, I am surprised that Schafer hasn't hit more since coming up to the Majors. A career .294/.354/.431 hitter in the minors, I was expecting Schafer to put a line something similar to his 2012 season in Nashville (.278/.332/.438) upon reaching the majors. I understand he hasn't received regular playing time since his call up but in 352 career ABs, Schafer has a line of .219/.281/.338. Is this the real Logan Schafer? Moreover, if this the real Schafer and the real Davis, do we have a need in LF or can we get by with this production?
  10. 2-2 versus the Cardinals, especially with last night's lineup, has to be an early season win for the Crew. They know they can play with the Cards and the mental side is 90% of the battle against them.
  11. I'd be very ok with a very D heavy bench, provided we have a designated power guy like Dunn. As I see it, the Brewers could roll with: C Maldonado SS/3B Bianchi OF Schafer 1B/Emergency OF Dunn 2B Weeks Dunn/Reynolds can split 1B as they are very similar players at this stage of their career. While I have zero desire to see Dunn ever play the OF in Milwaukee, if there were injuries in a game that necessitated it, the Brewers wouldn't be totally lost. Weeks really has become quite unnecessary for this roster.
  12. Really sick of the Cardinals... So depressing expecting the absolute worst every time we play them.
  13. I would really like K. Davis to start his reputation as a Cardinal Killer right now.
  14. Amen....3-4 trip with Braun and Segura out AND facing Wacha, Lynn & Miller (Brewer killers) and Cueto, would be a win for me.
  15. I agree wholeheartedly. The only issue with Bianchi, Schafer and Maldonado on our bench is that they are all D first players and offer very limited offensive value right now. I imagine them all hitting somewhere between .210-.230, with a collective OBP somewhere south of .300. While this is ok when the team is fully healthy, as Bianchi backs up an all-star at both 3B & SS, Schafer backs up an all-start at CF & RF and Maldonado backs up a should be all-star at C, when the injury bug bites it bites especially hard. For example, look at today's starting lineup versus the Cardinals: 7. Bianchi SS 8. Herrera RF (in for the hurt Braun and Schafer) Plus you have to figure Maldonado will catch tomorrow or Wednesday for a potential of: 6. Maldonado 7. Bianchi 8. Herrera 9. Pitcher That puts an enormous strain on Gomez, Lucroy and Ramirez, especially considering Gennett and Davis are still rookies. I will be happy with 1 of 3 against the Cardinals a split with Cincinnati and a 3-4 road trip given the state of our injuries.
  16. I know this is sacrilegious, but I am not a big Vin Scully guy. Too much talking, constant chatter does not always work for me. I like him and he tells a great story but I'm tired after listening to him go for 3+ hours. Love the Dodgers radio team of Charley Steiner and Rick Monday though. Very underrated team.
  17. I went to the Dodgers-Phillies game last night and Dennis Haysbert aka Pedro Cerrano from Major League did the PA announcing the entire game. Awesome.
  18. I think I might rather stick with Reynolds than a guy who won't have seen live MLB pitching in 8 months.* *(I reserve the right to change my mind if Reynolds is hitting .190 come the first week of June)
  19. Dare I say this and not get destroyed.... Could Overbay be a great "clubhouse" guy? Give that veteran leadership? Is that what is keeping him around?
  20. YIKES...that is a VERY interesting question. Being competitive long term in this division may be a challenge for the Brewers with the Cardinals continually churning good young players through the system, the Baby Cubs getting closer and closer and the Pirates still young. So do you go for it in the event of an injury and in the process, sacrifice even more in the long term? I say no to trading Nelson and put him into the rotation as the answer to any injury. Honestly, if Gallardo continues to pitch like the Yo of old, Lohse/Garza (whichever one is not injured in your scenario) and Estrada remain the players they have been the past few seasons and Peralta continues his ascent, Nelson's role may be to come up and simply be a league average #5, which I think he would have little issue doing.
  21. How much credit can we give to RR and his staff for the development of Lucroy, Peralta, Thornburg, Estrada and hopefully Gennett and Davis? I know that Peralta was once a top 100 prospect, but the others were never considered to be the can't miss prospects that Braun, Fielder, Hardy, Hart & Weeks were. It just seems like either those prospects were completely missed by the scouts, or RR and the staff has really done wonders to help maximize the talents that they have.
  22. I think Melvin has done a solid B job in Milwaukee. Should we be run more like the A's or Rays? Yes. Do they not put enough of an emphasis on the development of minors? Yes. Do they spend too much in free agency to fill holes? Yes. However, have we enjoyed a nice product of baseball in Milwaukee over the past decade? Absolutely. Who would have ever imagined the Brewers turning into one of the small town success stories just one decade ago. I guess it all depends on your perspective on the definition of success. Are the A's more successful than the Brewers? Since 2008, the Brewers have 515 wins, have made the playoffs twice and made one NLCS appearance. The A's in that same time have 508 wins, have made the playoffs twice and lost both times in the ALDS. Are the Rays more successful? The Rays have 559 wins, have made the playoffs 4 times, lost 3 times in the ALDS and made one World Series appearance. Am I content with where we as a franchise are? Yes and no. I want more consistency and I want the roster to be churned in the manner of the Rays where we can sustain high 80s low 90s win totals for a decade rather than the focus of the failures of the previous season. I also want to avoid short term trade like Marcum-Lawrie, but that seems to be more the exception than the rule. However, if I am judging Melvin in regard to the success and failure on the field, I have to give him a solid above average grade.
  23. I have a HUGE fear about this as well. Fortunately, it appears that the pen may actually be rather deep this year as Gorzelanny and Kintzler are currently on the DL and should ease some strain on Thornburg, Smith, Henderson and Rodriguez upon their return. Unfortunately, the combination of Weeks, Overbay and Wang really does hurt us this season. I wish they could go with a shorter bench i.e. replace Weeks and Overbay with a Taylor Green-type who can back up 1B, 2B & 3B, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. The bullpen looks 10 deep at this time, assuming the DL guys come back ok: 1. Rodriguez 2. Henderson 3. Smith 4. Thornburg 5. Kintzler/Wooten/Figaro 6. Gorzelanny/Duke 7. Wang
