  1. Only Albert Pujols can stand at the plate and watch his homers (and sometimes doubles or long fly-outs) without repercussions.
  2. I expect the Bucks to challenge for the CBA title every year!
  3. It was fun to see the post-game interviews with Josh Wilson and Tim Dillard. I don't think they have or will get the opportunity to have those types of moments very often. I think that both of them have solidified their place on the roster for awhile. Although it's always great to see a guy outperform his past, it's probably not really a good thing in Wilson's case; since Doug might be less willing to get get some IF help at the trade deadline.
  4. Wow. 3-1 to Logan Morrison and he pops up ball 4. HUGE thank you to LoMo.
  5. If Axford can nail this down, then no matter how bad Wilson's WAR is, his WAB (Wins Above Bentacourt) is at least 1.0.
  6. Well, I was expecting a dinger from Helms there, so I'll take the little dribbler through the hole. Nice play by Hawkins there, although I thought he was going to nail Prince in the face with the throw.
  7. So Stanton missed the cut-off man, home plate, AND the back-up guy behind the plate. It was about a foot from going into the stands. That would have been outstanding, perhaps getting Rickie to third.
  8. He's going to walk Prince here and then Corey is going to go deep to really take command of the game.
  9. Rickie looked like a lefty dropping the head of the bat on the down and in pitch. He's good. So is Morgan! We may need some runs today, so this is looking good.
  10. I really don't think that one overarching philosophy or organizational strategy is any better than another. What makes the biggest difference is having a quality scouting department and drafting well with the picks that you get. Secondary to that is having a quality minor league coaching system that is able to polish the diamonds in the rough that they draft. If an organization is able to identify the type of talent that suits the coaches in their system, the odds of a player improving throughout the minors goes way up.
  11. Awesome, awesome job. With the state of the farm these days, you guys really upped the entertainment value. My personal favorite on the commentary is Eric Arnett: At least there are no new bad things to say about Arnett this time around....At this point, Dylan Covey has been a better first-round pick than Arnett, and Covey didn't even sign. Also, is that Stosh Wawrzasek or 'Stache Wawrzasek?
  12. He played yesterday and Lucroy just had a day off on Thursday. The gap between the talent of the two players is so large that I would have a problem with Nieves playing tomorrow. Had Lucroy played yesterday, not so much.
  13. I love winning close games. Especially on the road. And just like that, all we need to do is split the last two in order to have a winning road trip.
  14. That was a horrid attempt at blocking the ball by Lucroy there.
  15. That looked like the first time Stanton has ever faced a sinker-ball pitcher. Clueless.
  16. I wouldn't mind if Gallardo started the 7th until somebody gets on. He's right at 100 pitches. He's gotten a lot of rotten luck tonight with bad defense and umpiring, but his stuff has looked okay. A bit inconsistent, but I'd still trust him more than anybody in the bullpen I think. Yeah Yuni!!! As stupid as it is, Roenicke will probably be more likely to relieve Yo now since he's in line for the win. Stupid stat.
  17. I'll actually be a little surprised if Braun/Fielder/Lucroy can not get a run on the board this inning. The Crew has been hitting Volstad pretty hard but there's been a ton of at 'em balls and this is the 3rd time they'll be seeing him.
  18. That McGehee/Fielder combo is really not working tonight.
  19. According to Gameday that 3rd pitch to Buck caught the corner of the meatball zone (the center square of the strike zone). If this were still April, Gallardo would now give up a 3 run jack....
  20. Yeah! Lucroy with the perfect throw to beat Coghlan by a mile. Betancourt didn't move his glove at all.
  21. I know. Of all the things he can argue, he seemed to get the most heated about that. Lol. Makes no sense to me.Sometimes it's easier to vehemently argue things by the letter of the law than it is to argue subjective judgment calls. As BA and Rock said, by the rulebook it isn't an out (even though that is ridiculous). Arguing out/safe or ball/strike calls is really kind of dumb since there rarely is a contentious rule to actually argue about, it's just the way an ump saw it; at least until replay is instituted.
