  1. Funny how there are days like last night where it rains everywhere in a 200 mile radius of Cincinnati except in Cincy and the game gets played without interruption. Tonight it rains in Cincy and ONLY in Cincy within that same 200 mile radius. Oh well. They should still finish up in a bit anyways but it did kinda halt our momentum.
  2. I mean the Brewers have 8 hits, 3 walks to Cincinnati’s 2 hits and 4 walks. This offense is not that bad. It stinks that Yelich can’t find it but considering that, they’re doing pretty well. I tend to think that our offense is okay and the Reds BP sucks and that we win the division going away, but that's not a popular opinion in an IGT.
  3. Well, sure, but you're drunk, full of pizza, have a new cell phone, switched car insurance companies 4 times and re-invested your life saving by divesting with 8 different financial companies that hopefully do not conflict with your insurance company and new cell phone carrier...
  4. While I generally agree, my primary concern is giving these guys enough rest or potentially extra rest if possible to keep them as fresh as possible in September and hopefully beyond. If the rest is ample, I don't care if these guys go 250 innings if they pitch to the world series. For me the primary thing is getting full rest and the occasional extra day or two when possible. I would also probably stop doing the extra rest thing starting in late August if a team closes in on us. If we're 8-10 game lead...yeah go ahead and skip a start or go 6 man rotation. Yep. I don't really think it's an injury concern to make a large jump in innings, it's a fatigue concern (which then turns into an injury concern). The combination of shorter starts and longer rest between starts should make it easier to have a large jump in innings over the course of the year. I hope the Reds play well enough to put a little pressure on us in September so that these guys can get a playoff type atmosphere before the playoffs begin. I don't think it's best to cruise into the playoffs without being tested/pressured. At the same time, I don't want to overwork everybody and burn them out by Sept/Oct either. It's a tricky balance.
  5. I thought his style was annoying, but I couldn't objectively say that he was terrible. He was comfortable and smooth.
  6. I think you hit on a fair point. I'm certain the past year made it harder to scout HS, and easier to scout the college game. I also think it's a quick way to infuse talent into a system that is limited that will hypothetically move that talent up quickly. Hypothetically, the goal is for guys like Sal and Mitchell to be in the conversation for 26-man spots in just a couple of years, which would aid the Brewers in extending their window. Not only that, but we've signed a lot of young latino players the last couple of years, and in order to balance out the age groups throughout the system we may need to draft more college guys.
  7. Can you withdraw from the draft while its actually taking place. I'm guessing the same could be said for Bubba Chandler and Will Taylor? The Clemson guys? Or might somebody still open up the pocket book for them?
  8. Name the best true centerfielders outside of Mike Trout and Ken Griffey jr. since Willie Mays hung up the cleats. Like it or not, we are going to draft guys with the potential defensive chops to play up the middle OR a guy like Hiura with that overwhelming hit/power combo with a high likelihood to reach that "potential." Sure, the comps you read about Colson Montgomery say best case scenario of Corey Seagar which lights up your brain....but perhaps our scouts didn't see that. Maybe our scouts saw a BEST case scenario of Colin Moran. Is that enough for you to pass on a guy like Frelick who could be Johnny Damon or Lenny Dykstra? I would draft a profile like Hiura over one like Frelich. Keston has star ability but somewhere it fell apart and I blame the Brewers and specifically Haines for his downfall. OF course you would. So would I and so would David Stearns! Since he...you know DID draft Keston Hiura. But there IS NO Keston Hiura in this draft. Frelick might actually be the closest to what he was.

  10. If you can play SS, you can most likely play 3rd (or OF). And if you can play CF, you can play LF or RF Sadly Weeks was a 2b/CF that couldn’t play any position well, except DH. But besides him, this philosophy holds Well. The organization kept thinking he could play 2b average or better because of his athleticism/tools, but it never really worked out. If they tried him in the OF perhaps it could have worked out better, perhaps not. If you don't have the speed/skill/instincts/arm for CF you shouldn't play there. I would guess Rickie lacked enough of those things to stay at being a poor second basemen or else the organization would have made him a less poor CFer or LFer...
  11. From Will Sammon… Brewers scout Ty Blankmeyer on first round pick Sal Frelick: "If I was just a fan, I would go to the game and pay to watch Sal Frelick play baseball. ... This is the whole package in my opinion. It's legit." Must've repeated phrase, "He's a winner," half a dozen times. Perhaps Frelick is a solid player, but I’m chuckling at this statement because saying the guy is a winner seems like a really cliche thing to say. Sounds especially like something one would say to justify a controversial pick (which Frelick isn’t). Totally agree. I know what the guy is saying, and that is a great quality to have, but it isn't as great of a quality as being an overwhelmingly good and athletic baseball player...and nothing he said says that Frelick isn't that... but this is a lot of "..." ...
  12. So...What's the deal with Ty Madden? When a High Schooler falls I assume it's because he's asking for the moon...
  13. To get back on track, no big surprises from 16-24. I would be happy enough if Black, Norby, Mikulski, Abbott, or Nikhasy are the pick at 33. Lots of good options though, and a couple of those guys should be around at 55 even.
  14. There are a whole bunch of words here so I made them smaller, but I agree with every one of them so I quoted them all. I even bolded the end for emphasis on a point I especially agree with and find vitally important when scouting younger players. Sorry for redundancy.
  15. You aren't banned from posting. Nor do I think anything you've posted calls for being banned. And you are still here posting. Post away, just as the rest of us will as well.
  16. Yes pick about the biggest outlier of all time to make a point. Mookie Betts, Ozzie Albies, Dustin Pedroia, Justin Turner Jose Ramirez, Kolten Wong, Brandon Lowe.... [sarcasm]oh come on. Pick those 7 guys plus Altuve...plus that other list of 25 guys plus dozens of other guys we all forget just to make a point[/sarcasm]
  17. Why Jose Altuve is even in the Major Leagues is quite the mystery
  18. His scouting report says he's a slap hitter. I don't know how anyone can be excited by this pick. Dude they didn’t take wicks, you should being doing backflips or else you were going to complain about whomever they take Clearly. There were at least 4 consensus top 12 picks on the board (Watson, Madden, McLain, Frelick) and brewers888 knows more than all of the consensus since he was gunna hate all those picks. He wants a power bat without a hole in the bat....just like everybody else.
  19. Wow. Watson, House, Rocker and Madden still on the board...0 mocks had any of those guys outside the top 10.
  20. Hard to see how Mozzicato gets picked in front of Rocker and Madden...at least one of those guys is gunna fall further...
  21. House? I think he'll be the one that could slide.
  22. Just promise not to judge a HS pick until at least 2026 (see Clark, Trent... and Taylor, Tyrone)
  23. Wicks is certainly polished in front of the camera....
  24. So...who are the Twitterati people in the know who might leak certain info? Like the thing about the Red Sox possibly taking McLain?
