  1. I haven't been happy with ATT TV. I've had both Hulu and YouTube TV the last couple of years using the same internet service(s) and both just plain worked better with fewer buffer stops or just plain not working for minutes at a time. It takes way too long to load as well. Signing up for the service was also a major pain in the behind. It hasn't quite been bad enough to cancel altogether, but I'll certainly be looking to jump ship ASAP. When I'm watching on my computer, I've found that it almost always works better to use the 1st party website (espn.com, mlbnetwork.com, tntdrama.com etc.) and then sign in with att tv as the provider than to go through the actual att tv service. For some reason I haven't tried that with Ballys and the Brewers, but hopefully that will work better as well.
  2. I haven't read the game thread...who is this color guy? He is beyond terrible.
  3. Jake Cronenworth, Nick Solak and Nate Lowe are all doing pretty well after the Rays jettisoned them.
  4. Okay, hear me out. What If a team took all their players and stuck them directly in front of home in a way that the batter has absolutely no way to see the pitch coming. Give each other piggyback rides to get higher than the batters eyes and block the pitcher from view. This by definition is not against the rules, is it not? I would keep this trick play in my back pocket until the biggest moment of the year. 3 outs from the world series win I am deploying this strategy stunning the entire sports world. I know there are certain provisions in the rulebook against things that "make a mockery of the game." I believe this would fall under that category. Interesting thought though.
  5. I'm sorry but pitching is judged based on getting outs, not based on how fast you throw. I'd love to see your pre-season posts that were so high on JP. There is the control thing as well. Both JP and Rasmussen were cheap, flexible and effective and were to remain at least the first 2 of those for quite awhile.
  6. Any update here? I loved Topa last year and hearing good things might soften the blow of losing a bunch of our BP depth today...
  7. This isn't talked about enough.
  8. This is all true--and it was really brought on by enforcing the "true" strike zone 10-15 years ago, when pitchers got an extra 3 inches or so above the belt and umps were stricter on the outside corner. In the 90s, the belt was basically the top of the zone, but pitchers were allowed to work off the plate a bit if that is where the catcher lined up. I think a lot of the K problems would be solved by going back to the belt as the top of the zone. Just think of how many of Hader's strikeouts have come on called borderline pitches at the top of the zone or pitches that were definitely high that guys chased cuz they had to. Just moving it down would totally change the way Hader would pitch, as now those called high strikes are super close to the danger danger zone where balls end up in the seats.
  9. Along with another classic Brewers closer (probably in 2004?) Curtis Leskanic. Before Hader it seems like the Brewers had bout a 20+ year run of a revolving door at closer...most of them having one great year and then one horrible year where they replaced.
  10. If we truly tank before the trade deadline, it would be fun to move Woodruff and Yelich to get Wander Franco. It's not going to happen, but it would be fun. It is more likely we sign Braun and rent a big stick or two (Trevor Story? Trea Turner? Jesus Aguilar?)
  11. We are a healthy Yelich, a "right" Hiura, Trevor Story and Ryan Braun away from a World Series?
  12. I think the easiest answer to all of this is to shrink the strike zone. It has always been an amorphous thing anyways-particularly when it comes to high and low called strikes. Simply tighten that up a few inches and things will normalize in favor of hitters very quickly.
  13. Wat duz "cherry gets popped" meen?
  14. I think it counts and he didn't get paid, or maybe got the minimum or something. Pretty sure this is the 4th year of the 5 year deal.
  15. The radar looks okay right now, just a little drizzly. Unless something develops it doesn't look like real rain until 9 or 10 tonight our time.
  16. I nominate Hiura, JBJ, and Vogelbach to go on the IL the next 3 days. Bring back Cain, Yelich, and Robertson.
  17. Counsell deserves a lot of credit.
  18. In his very first major league at-bat he draws a walk, and then his first trip around the bases ends with touching home plate in a dramatic walk-off. I love baseball. YEP. In no other game does every player get an equal chance to be the hero or the goat of the game. Even 22 year old kids who have no business being on the roster because of crazy injuries.
  19. Feeling the same. Guy is a total game-changer. Not overreacting to April, but he's going to be one of those guys that reinvents Hall of Fame criteria, right? Like, the numbers may not do justice to how much he changed the game. He'll have to do it for a bunch more years, but it's been awesome to watch. I've been worried about a Hader drop-off for 2 years and thus advocating for a trade...and there have been some slow and steady signs of decline and/or the league just catching up to him. Not anymore. He looks as good as ever right now (knocks on wood).
  20. On the bright side, other than the 60 day-ers, most of these IL stints are half injuries and half "load management" in NBA parlance...
  21. In 2019, Dillon Thomas was one of Biloxi's better hitters. I think he's gone though.
  22. The fielder has a right to make a play on the batted ball. Had Godley been slightly slower to the ball and Diaz slightly faster and had contact been made by Diaz as Godley tried to field the ball then it would have been interference on Diaz. Had Godley not turned to throw the ball to first he can obviously stand in the baseline with the ball to tag Diaz. The only reason he didn't have the ball was because he tossed it to first and the out was made thus negating any interference that could have been called. Just stupid all around.
  23. Can't they buy more time by sending him on a rehab assignment to Arizona?
  24. I think it would be better for Hader to take the 8th here even if he only is gong 1 inning.
  25. They do have some incentive, as if either one blows out their shoulder a la Jimmy Nelson, they may be capping their career earnings right now, which is nice but probably not life changing security. A $60M deal IS life changing security and it's guaranteed the moment they sign. I'd say that's a LOT of incentive...
