  1. Hiura hasn't had a ton of good results yet, but he looks very good at the plate. Pleeeeeeeease let him stick at 2b. He has Sheffield like bat speed.
  2. Not that I agree with this at all, but we might be able to sign Moose and trade for Colome.
  3. I don't have the link either, but someone posted a story about him not getting 4/68 or even 4/56, which I thought was crazy. I would think if he was willing to take 4/56 he would be signed by now. Found it: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/can-alex-cobb-get-the-thing-back/
  4. Not that this is the case, but if DS can get someone like Cotton or similar arm for cheap, this gives us that much more depth to deal prospects for a top arm mid season if need be. If Cotton looks like he could be Anderson/Davies type by mid season, I would be much more willing to put Burnes/Ortiz/Peralta in a deal. Hopefully those three raise their stock enough by mid season that less of them need to be involved in a deal. Personally, after Darvish signed with the Cubs, I'm more apt to go this route than signing Arrieta or trading for Archer right now.
  5. Would the Astros take Santana back?
  6. This late in the off-season I'm kind of losing hope in trading Santana for pitching. At this point we should just trade him for prospects and try and trade for an arm at the trade deadline if we are still in it.
  7. If I had the choice, I would make the AL pitchers hit and get rid of the DH there, but the DH isn't going anywhere and both leagues should have the same players at this point with interleague play. That is the only reason I voted yes.
  8. Man if this deal goes down, the fact that Wren didn't get picked in the Rule V makes me happy. Not sure he can play right if Braun goes down, but he can probably cover center/left for 15 days quite well. He's not going to win us any games, but he could save a few runs and get on base.
  9. Ugh, I get it, but Phillips is killing me. He might not pan out, but he just seems like one of those guys that keeps everyone loose in a playoff run. I have to admit, I'm getting excited though. Darvish/Arrieta, Archer, Anderson, Davies, Chacin, Woodruff with Nelson coming in later is pretty good. Hopefully Stearns can replace Phillips or Burnes with a slightly lower player before the deal is done.
  10. I'd be hoping we give up Peralta and Ortiz if we got to pick two. I'm still not sold on Ortiz and I'm pretty sure Peralta is a RP even though that is still valuable. On the bright side, if we get Archer, Woodruff wouldn't be completely necessary.
  11. We also need to keep in mind that salaries will probably blow up next off season and whatever we pay Darvish will look better in 3 years than it does now. I remember when Braun signed his extension and I thought $20 mil was absolutely ridiculous and even with Braun's drop off, the 20 mil does look ridiculous anymore. The top pitchers next off season will probably all make more than Darvish does this year and we probably won't have a shot at any of them. I would love to pounce now on Darvish and let everyone spend their last pennies next year on the shiny new toy.
  12. I know he isn't necessarily a game changer, but do you think Santana for Manaea and Luzardo might would work? Manaea would give us a young controllable arm (left) with some upside and Luzardo would be a nice arm to add to the farm. Santana could probably left, but they Davis as DH so I'm not sure if the two are redundant.
  13. Yeah, but the article linked says Boston are on the hook for the $18 mil this year.
  14. Yep: https://bosoxinjection.com/2017/11/03/red-sox-2018-payroll-update/ Heck, if the Dodgers are worried about it, the Red Sox are. I wonder what kind of prospects we could get if we take some Sandoval's money off the books and give them Santana. Would they give up Groome and Chavis? This would give us another arm and some insurance in case Shaw regresses or gets traded for an arm during the "window".
  15. On top of that, the price in prospects wouldn't be ridiculous either. Is Coulter and Perrin lowballing?
  16. I'm ok keeping him if we aren't getting any decent offers for him, but I think we definitely need Braun to move, at least part-time, to 1B.
  17. I would add Sean Manaea to that list as well. It worked with K. Davis...sort of.
  18. I think his point was that he thinks Phillips + whoever we get for Santana > Santana and loss of Phillips. ...not to put words in his mouth, that is just how I took it.
  19. Can you give me some insight into what fish you will be catching and whether or not that will surpass the expectations going into the weekend? +1
  20. It wouldn't help the team now, but I would do a Groome, Darwinzon Hernandez, and Raudes for Santana.
  21. http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2018/01/mlb_rumors_yankees_lose_another_potential_jacoby_e.html Ellsbury wants a team with Spring Training in Arizona. I'd be interested to see if the Yankees make any more acquisitions this year and push the payroll higher. It might make them a bit more desparate to get rid of Ellsbury's contract and give up a couple nice young arms. This seems like kind of a fantasy baseball deal, but I'm starting to come around. If we deal Santana, we will need an OF anyway and although the contract is horrible, he wouldn't be a bad 4th OF. If the package was rich enough in players coming back, I wouldn't have a problem if DS dealt for him.
  22. I would be good with this, but I think I would like a lottery ticket or two in there. I think the casual fan would be irate to hear we gave up a bat like Santana for one minor leaguer. Maybe McKenzie ++ for Santana and Stokes?
