  1. http://milwaukee.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2017/12/01/trading-impact-prospects/ Looks like Kyle is suggesting a starting point (hopefully) of Harrison and Burnes. I would hate to trade Burnes after the year he had last year, but if we could get an arm like Stroman or Archer without giving up Brinson/Woodruff/Ortiz I might be ok with it. Harrison has holes in his swing and had a hard time staying healthy until last year and while Burnes' numbers were amazing, he doesn't have amazing "stuff". Thoughts?
  2. I think I would be willing to to give the Reds a quantity deal rather than a quality deal for him coming out of some of the minor leaguers we won't be able to protect next year. I'm not sure how much he'd cost, but it might make sense to get him now, rather than July price wise. Would they bite on Corey Ray + Perrin/Ponce types?
  3. After touching upon the amount prospects we will have to protect next year, would it make sense to go after someone like Sean Manaea, especially with Nelson down? A's are usually willing to deal anyone for the right price, I'm just not sure what the right price would be. He's young, has decent minor league stats and he's a lefty. Maybe we could find a match.
  4. Is it possible to front load the contract? Instead of a 4 year $24 mil per year, do something like a $30,28. 20, 18? Might make him more palatable towards the end of the contract and allow more flexibility and make him more tradable. If we have that much available cash this year, we should front load it as much as possible.
  5. I would love to see St. Louis empty the farm and outbid the Giants. I don't think he would improve the Cards as much as everyone thinks unless he is healthy for 162 games. Also, then we could trade Broxton to the Giants and hopefully get back a nice piece and a lottery ticket. I know they don't play the same position, but SF might feel like they need to make a move after missing out.
  6. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the Link Report. Wonderful work!
  7. I thought I read somewhere last night that the A's wanted Brinson or no deal. Didn't sound like they would settle or much else. If that is the case, DS made the correct decision. Now we just need the Cubs and Yankees to eliminated from the playoffs in dramatic fashion and for the Dodgers to come up short so they trade for Braun in the offseason.
  8. This is kinda bush league, but if we get eliminated from the playoffs I would love to see him play all 9 positions in one game. Start at pitcher in inning one and work your way around. That would be fun. I would rather make the playoffs.
  9. Apparently Price is going on the DL for the same issue that he had earlier this year. Probably not a good sign for the Red Sox. I know DS snookered him in the last trade, but do you think they would be interested in something like Garza and Perez for Groome? Garza can fill in while Price in on the DL or all year if he needs sugery. Perez can fill in if Devers isn't up to the task this year. Probably not, but we all know how Dombrowski likes to trade prospects. Might be a good idea to give him a call and find out if business can be done.
  10. Might as well get both! Too bad Kinzler is price prohibitive
  11. Jeffress is officially on the trade block apparently. The way his season has gone, he shouldn't cost much and honestly he can't be much worse than what we have. I'm just not sure TX will deal him back to us for pennies on the dollar.
  12. Seems like bullpen trouble was a bit of a pattern up and down the system the last few days/all season.
  13. Sorry late to the party...Sweet, we are in the record books!!!!!
  14. Don't get my hopes up! He would be one of 5 pitchers I would be ok trading Brinson for.
  15. Agreed. I couldn't find a puking emoji
  16. Sorry! I can't keep my threads straight. I get that A's would ask for Brinson and Ortiz, but I'd hope we could work them down to Hader and Phillips instead and throw in a smaller piece like a Jungmann/Cravy or Wren/Reed. We are going to lose some pieces next year when 40 man decisions come up anyway. Hell I would throw in all four of those guys if we could get a decent bullpen arm in the deal also. My main thing is that I think Hader will be a bullpen arm (although a good one) and if we can use him to get a controllable starter while his value is high we might want to take the risk.
  17. I guess I will start this with saying there is no indication that he on the block, but someone brought up in the Sonny Gray thread wondering what it would take to get Sean Manaea. It would take a lot, but I think this might be a good way to go if DS thinks he has too many bodies and needs to thin the herd. I'm wondering if you guys think this would be enough if DS went to BB and asked about Manaea. Hader Ray Phillips Peralta Ventura I personally think Hader is destined for the bullpen and I'm hoping put him in will allow us to keep Brinson. Since we aren't including Brinson, Beane will probably want his pick of OF's in our system. Peralta is up and coming and Ventura is solid but unspectacular. It seems like a ton to give up, but I believe Manaea has 5 years of control after this year and would give a solid lefty for the future (no offense to Suter).
  18. If we got Robles, we could include whatever OF Billy Beane wants for Mannea! I love fantasy baseball! While I would love such a move, I don't think MA would give DS the green light when we are in a pennant race. We have the lead now, but we have three better (on paper at least) teams breathing down our neck. If we had a better bullpen besides Kneubel I would be all over something like this. I think without him, we completely fall apart.
  19. Pirates have said nothing about not trading Cole. Cole is available but at a very steep price. If the Pirates somehow sweep us this series, they are right back in it. That would only put them 3 games back of us and a couple behind the Cubs.
  20. I think a lot of what we do will depend on what we do over the next couple weeks on this road trip. If we go something like 2-8, I think Woodruff comes up pretty quick. If we go 8-2, DS might want to go as long as possible and not burn the extra year.
  21. I would actually like to get in on the bidding process and stick to our guns with our price. Best case scenario we get Gray cheap or the Cubs get him and have to give up Schwarber or Happ.
  22. I'm no expert on current values, but would it be possible to swap Gray for Santana? A's need OF's and he has enough control left to make him valuable. We could plug in Brinson, Phillips in RF and not lose a whole lot in offense. This way we could get our starter and not have to give up a ton of prospects hopefully and wreck the rebuild. I have to admit I like Santana a lot as he's only 24 so he could definitely be argued to be a part of the next playoff team. This might be a compromise between those who want a starter and those who don't want to give up "prospects".
  23. Do they even have a package of minor leaguers that would be acceptable? I think they would have to throw in either Schwarber or Happ at this point, which would be fine with me. Have them sell off their future for two #3 starters (maybe #2) I guess.

  25. Brewers trade: Jesus Aguilar Yadiel Rivera Tyler Cravy Demi Orrmoloye Yankees trade: Justus Sheffield
