  1. I may have missed this previously, but does SA have a stadium or would they build one? Having a new stadium in AA and AAA would be quite the coup. Honestly I'd prefer they play on a intramural field in SA than in Colorado Springs next year. I really like the way the minor league teams are stacking up in one area of the country. I would think that would bring down costs of travel etc, for the business side. I'm not sure if there are any rookie teams in FL, but it would be nice to move A+ to Carolina and bring a rookie ball team to FL. That would put all our minor league teams (besides Helena and Appleton) within a few hundred miles of each other, not to mention a possible move of ST to Florida.
  2. It looks like they just switched hats and gave him a tan! Weird.
  3. I saw that too. I'm curious to see if he got most of his speed back after the injury last year. Harrison is also tearing things up which I didn't expect so soon. I know, spring training...
  4. I agree, best case is trade a very small piece for Jones and stick him in AAA. Then keep Morales and Boyer and hope you can move them at the deadline for more pieces. That is actually a pretty darn good bullpen even though we don't have a "proven closer" at the back end. We will see if any trades are made this week too, which would definitely change some things along with the fact that other teams will have to let go players that Stearns might jump on. The bullpen could look a little different in a couple weeks.
  5. Can't we put Broxton in AAA and Phillips in AA to stockpile talent? Santana, Braun, Flores, Liriano and decide whether you want to keep Peterson, Newb, or Pressley. Broxton is playing great, but 1) its spring training, and 2) he has an option. I would love to have Braun go off in the first half and trade him at the deadline. At that point you move Flores to left and Broxton comes up to play CF and move Phillips to AAA.
  6. Looks like the Rangers are interested in the Padres catcher Norris, probably much cheaper to obtain prospect wise. If I was Stearns, I would make a phone call to San Diego and see if they are interested in trading us Hedges or Bentacourt. That would net us another catcher for the organization, and probably make San Diego much less willing to deal another catcher to the Rangers, which would hopefully bring them back to the table for Lucroy. Win-win.
  7. Well, AAA is Colorado Springs, but same difference. Is there any way we could get everything in the SE-ish US (besides Appleton)? We have Biloxi and hopefully we have them for a long time, get something in Carolina. Grrrrr, AAA Nashville would be perfect. Helena will just have to be all the way across the country.
  8. We are really just a Lucroy to the Rangers trade away from being #1.
  9. Agreed on Lancaster. I lived there for a few years and while the stadium is decent, it is really just a prettier sister of High Desert.
  10. Nice start for Nottingham. Is it too soon to call him The Sheriff?
  11. Only the Sith deal in absolutes.
  12. I understand what you're saying Brewcrew, but I don't think Boomer is saying Bundy would be the only player coming back. This would probably be way overpaying for Braun, but I think if they offered us Bundy and Jomar Reyes for Braun and $15 million we would probably take that. As far as the 50 IP this year goes, if you stick him in the bullpen you can hide him a bit and hope he can throw 120 next year and see what you have. It's a big risk, I get it, but Bundy has a shot at being ace-ish which is more than you can say for any pitcher the Brewers have in their system right now and maybe as much as pitcher they might draft at #5 this year. If he flames out you can fall back on the fact that you saved cash and got another piece in the deal (hopefully).
  13. *Mic drop* Agreed
  14. I know the Orioles just signed Fowler, but would they be interested in a Braun/ Bundy trade? Throw in Heim and Reyes just to take a little bit of the risk out of it. I suppose Braun is a risk too with his back. Maybe Peralta since the Gallardo thing seems held up. I would think if Bundy is looking like he might not be ready, a trade would be a good course of action for a team that is looking to keep up with the Jones'.
  15. ...or his agent.
  16. Just a quick comparison, but in 2016 we have 16 prospects B- or better. In 2015 we had nine. We will see how things go in the future, but I'd say the rebuild is going swimmingly right now. If we hit on a good return for Lucroy we may have over 20 B- or better next year this time with hopefully five or six in the Top 100. Looking forward to the 2018 and 2019 Milwaukee Brewers. In case you are curious we had only 5 B- or better in 2014.
  17. Obviously I would rather have Banda than had to throw him in to make the trade, but I think I would trade Haniger and Banda for Davies pretty quick.
  18. probably not. kepler has a lot a hype after last season. a german born brewer would be a huge promotional tool though. If we trade for Kepler and draft Riley Pint, that might make a Top 10 moment in Brewer history for me. Fingers crossed.
  19. I think we have to remember also that Braun was "hoping" to be ready for the start of the regular season, but that is no sure thing. If Bruan and Flores are both on the DL to start the season, that opens a lot of time and AB's for the others. If someone really tears up Spring training, we might see another trade for a lottery ticket type when Flores and Braun come back. I would just be happy to see everyone gets lots looks to see what we have. I would love to see us keep Liriano, but if he really stinks up Spring training he might be gone. I would much rather take a chance on him with a down spring, than keep Newenheis (?) if he has a good spring as he will not be part of the plans in the next couple years anyway.
  20. I think one of the posters here said every time he goes on vacation the Brewers trade someone. Maybe we should pitch in for a "staycation" at a local hotel or something.
  21. Prospects aren't that valuable, but yeah Lucroy isn't going to cut it for a top-10 prospect. Even Gallo is too much to ask. Lucroy isn't that valuable TODAY. However, if he has a good spring training, then starts off April hot it will really help his value. Especially if he shows he still has some power. I think some teams would love to have the pre-2015 Lucroy, but are scared to death to trade valuable assets for a 2015 Lucroy. It's that simple. If you are talking injuries, I agree. I think he had a decent year while healthy though, didn't he?
  22. While I agree the catching situation will get ugly, I think we are much better off trading Lucroy than keeping him. I believe something like this has been discussed in another thread, but we can always trade for a catcher when we are competitive again. I think the danger of Lucroy getting another concussion this year or next year is high enough that we trade him when we get a reasonable offer. I hope he does well on his new team and goes on to be All Star, but we need the prospects more than above average catching for the next two or three years.
  23. I would think they would go after Alvarez before Davis since he won't cost prospects and his normal position is 1B. Was Bird DH-ing? I still think Alvarez makes more sense for the Yankees. Boras wins again!
  24. Not sure if this makes much sense or not, but with the Rays getting Pearce and Dickerson they have 3 1B and 6 or 7 OF. Would they take Lucroy and Smith or Peralta for Snell, Guerrieri, Betts, and James Loney. We certainly don't need Loney, but TB may want to dump his salary. TB is pretty smart with their prospects though, so unless they are in a win now mode, I doubt the deal would go through.
  25. Looking at the logos from the past, it is eerie that the 1994-1999 horrid logos correspond nicely to some ugly years in my own life. Who says you can't relate to professional sports?
