  1. Just saw today that MLB is requiring the Dodgers to bring down the debt on the franchise. While I'm sure a fire sale is not coming, I wonder if now might be the time to try a blockbuster. While Braun obviously won't save them money, we could take Puig, McCarthy and sent them $15-20 mil to take as many high quality prospects as possible. Thornburg and Guerra fit well into this scenario also.
  2. Julian Fernandez would be fun too. Sounds like Wild Thing. Would be a lot like the Wang situation. If we keep him all year he would probably go to Wisconsin or maybe Carolina next year. 100mph is 100 mph though.
  3. Yeah, I'm thinking Lopez should just be started in AA for a month or so, move him to AAA and then just call him up after service time consideration or the first trade/injury happens.
  4. I would be more apt to try something like this next year or the year after. I just don't think we have firm grasp on what the future Brewers will look like. Hopefully after this year we have a better idea of what we have in Phillips, Brinson, Ray, Diaz, Erceg and can find weaknesses that we can start taking shots at plugging in the coming years. I just think we are at least a year away from that and I'm not sure that is DS's way of doing things anyway.
  5. This might be the wrong thread for this, but do you think they might push Erseg to Carolina and have Gatewood back to 3b for Wisconsin? I was disappointed when they moved him to first. Not sure who would take over 1B in Wisconsin (Gideon?), but I would think they could just put a warm body that can hit there until someone takes the job.
  6. I'm thinking if the Dodgers lose 3-2 or 2-1, a Braun trade might take place pretty quick after the WS. Dodger pitching next year and Braun in the order pushes them to 100 wins if he's healthy.
  7. We are going to suck again next year, so I don't see much point worrying about catching for next year. Hopefully our catching prospects make some progress and we will see where we are at. A defensive type catcher would be nice though in order to help the young pitchers.
  8. Maybe we can get an extra prospect now!? This guy may be cursed... http://www.unsportsmanlike-conduct.com/blog/this-dodgers-fan-that-got-her-tooth-knocked-out-by-a-souvenir-isnt-helping-to-fix-too-many-stereotypes The guy is on a tear lately, trying to move beyond the bad press. Dodgers win the game and he catches the last out and chucks a souvenir into the stands....and knock out a girls tooth.
  9. Man, this article makes it seem like Braun is as good as gone. I can't believe it will be that easy. http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2016/09/13/ryan-braun-yasiel-puig-dodgers-brewers-trade/90311414/
  10. Thank you to all the Link Report writers! You have been my morning staple during the season for a long time. You are much appreciated.
  11. I think Brett Martin was called up with Mendez...
  12. Soria passed through waivers and although his results weren't great this year, his peripherals don't look horrible. He's owed $19 mil next season so we wouldn't have to give up much to get him. If we wanted to and KC was willing we could also have them eat some cash and give them someone we are concerned about on the cusp of the 40 man/Rule 5. If his peripherals are fine, he may be a great bounce back next year and if RP's are worth anything they were this year, he might be a nice get.
  13. People are going to start talking about a curse when trading with the Brewers. Dangit Jeremy!
  14. Just looked at the standings today and thanks to the Cubs taking us behind the woodshed, we are only 3 games out of the #2 pick. You would think with the schedule hitting a rough stretch, losing the back end of our bullpen, and our "best" player, that may not be out of the realm of possibility.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised to see DS starting to deal away minor pieces that might not fit into his plans for a bullpen arm or something that has a chance at being traded for lower minor league guys at deadlines. This might have been something going through the Indians minds at the deadline this year. Try and give uup pieces that you don't need for a run and still keep major pieces. That way you keep the building blocks and have a little 40 man flexibility.
  16. Great, now we are going to have a "Who will be the PTNL" thread that goes on for 197 pages.
  17. Is it just me or does this move not really help anyone? I guess the Reds get a little younger?
  18. Not sure why he would block the Indians. Thankfully the Braves aren't on there.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/ian-kennedy-wade-davis-trade-package-royals.html So apparently, the Royals want to dump Ian Kennedy on whoever wants Wade Davis. Royals are asking for Chapman type return for Davis by himself but would lower the prospect price if the team takes Kennedy. Not sure if MA would ever sign off on this, but do you think it might work to get creative and get in as third team in a trade like this and take Kennedy and prospects from the Royals and whoever is getting Davis? Kennedy is owed a lot of cash and this would be a Garza type deal. I'm not sure what the chance of him rebounding might be over the next couple years to flip him either. If MA signs off on it, it might be a way to squeeze some more prospects out without giving up anything besides cash. If Kennedy has a decent year next year or the year after we flip him for more prospects.
