  1. That’s honestly what I’m thinking. When the best option available is a 34 year old one trick pony, that doesn’t exactly scream of an abundance of options. Not to mention that being hyperaggressive isn’t going to guarantee even a WS appearance either- just ask the Padres how many WS appearances they’ve had since 1998. If we were to burn draft capital and prospects for marginal upgrades just for the sake of doing something and don’t even make the WS, then what? These folks gonna be happy with a “You Tried” sticker?
  2. B. Didn’t get anyone exciting, but also didn’t give up anyone important just for the sake of doing something. The left side of the infield is still not great, but considering that the best option in the market was a 34 year old one trick pony, I think we can assume that there wasn’t exactly an abundance of options.
  3. Too soon to tell. The Padres always seem to blow everyone's mind but what exactly have they accomplished in the past 20 years?
  4. I'd much rather see the FO make smart decisions rather than appease fans that have clearly failed the marshmallow test as kids.
  5. Must be why the Padres have won like 200 World Series by now, right?
  6. They can also have my leftover frozen chicken pot pie for free
  7. I’m just chuckling at this because it feels like a monkey’s paw moment. People want us to do something, and we do something- but it’s a couple guys on the IL
  8. Well, people wanted us to do something, and we did something
  9. I remember when Shelby Miller was touted as a Cardinals phenom. I feel old.
  10. Breaking news: Brewers obtain veteran beer vendor from Red Sox.
  11. Would’ve loved to have Underwood, Lauridsen, and Cadiz in the fold as well, but overall still a very solid class. I wonder who will turn out to be this year’s Ethan Dorchies.
  12. I mean, if teams had any degree of certainty these guys were signable, they’d have been taken earlier. When you pick someone after Round 10, you’re basically taking a flier on a lottery ticket and hope that you’re able to nab some of them.
  13. Wow. Of all the picks I thought he was the least likely to sign.
  14. With Bentley it seems like there’s a hair over $1m left to spend. Maybe 1 or 2 more signings to come?
  15. I’m not a fan of trading away significant talent for a rental who’s on the wrong side of 30. If he can be had for cheap, then sure. But since that’s unlikely, I’m more than fine with passing on him.
  16. While early, Levonas hasn’t exactly impressed as a freshman. Now, it’s not the end of the world to underperform as a freshman, but he’s gonna have to light the world on fire as a sophomore and junior if he wants to make as much as he could’ve last year.
  17. Shame that we didn’t end up signing Underwood, but more often than not we don’t end up missing the guys we don’t sign. I think the only one I can think of in recent memory is Carlos Rodon.
  18. Slightly undersized pitcher with a mid-90s fastball and a hammer curve. Shades of Ben Sheets? Can't wait to see what our pitching lab can do with him.
  19. If you take a bunch of high school kids and offer them some money, chances are a few of them will sign, right?
  20. Seems like we’re on a run of high upside guys now. I don’t think we’re signing many of them, but the ones we do will be fascinating to follow.
  21. Chicago may have the Pope, but we have Jesus 😁
  22. I’m pretty intrigued by Flores. Anytime I see a slightly undersized pitcher with a hammer curve, I can’t help but think about Ben Sheets.
