  1. Selection #12- Milwaukee Brewers Touki Toussaint- RHP- Coral Springs Christian Academy (Florida) The past couple of draft, the Brewers have selected high-risk, high-reward players (Coulter, Roache, D. Williams) and Toussaint is about as high-risk, high-reward as they come. He's still very raw, but has the potential to be a top of the rotation starter. Like all raw high school players, there's a chance that he may never reach the majors, but the potential reward is just too high to pass on.
  2. That would be a very interesting situation. Drafting Toussaint at 12, Hoffman at 41, and Bukauskas in the 2nd round. It seems unlikely that this would happen, but very interesting nonetheless. Also, what are your thoughts on Jake Stinnett? I think he would be a nice pick in the 2nd round. Or maybe even a little earlier than that.
  3. The Brewers may be interested in Toussaint, but just HOW interested are they? They could just be kicking the tires, unless your source knows otherwise.
  4. So according to Perfect Game, Jeff Hoffman's out for the year for Tommy John surgery. Should the Brewers take a chance on him with one or the later picks, or is it inevitable that he's going back to ECU?
  5. According to Andy Kendeigh: Good night for #brewers top prospect RHP Jimmy Nelson at Omaha, 7 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 9 K, gets win - hit 95-97 mph consistently
  6. Hey Colby, where in the draft do you expect Jacob Bukauskas to be selected?
  7. http://i.imgur.com/mbkrJX5.jpg HAAHAHAHA I meant a bit young for this draft class
  8. An interesting option would be Jacob Bukauskas(sp?). He has a mid-90s fastball that reportedly touched 100. A bit young for his age and a bit undersized at 6'1, but the arm strength is tough to ignore.
  9. I don't know about the 1st selection, but I pick for the Cubs at #4. Because I love the Cubs so much, I'm eying up Antone Williamson in that slot. If only I picked for the Cardinals as well. I could get them Ken Felder. The Cubs- The local batboy Cards- a rock.
  10. Wow, I don't recall the Brewers being THAT aggressive with prospects. If that's the case then they must see something special about Denson (other than the power).
  11. Saw this video the other day: That slider at around 1:50. That is just FILTHY!!! :O
  12. The Brewers need guys with upside rather than safe picks. They have enough guys who can fill in the middle or back of a rotation. The issue is that they don't have many guys that have high ceilings.
  13. It seems like Michael Kopech had the velocity boost too: http://etsn.fm/whitehouses-patrick-mahomes-outduels-mount-pleasants-michael-kopech-with-16-strikeout-no-hitter/ "In front of at least three dozen scouts each armed with radar guns, neither Mahomes or Kopech, who could be a first-round pick in June’s MLB draft, disappointed. Kopech, who has signed with Arizona for baseball, touched 98 mph and Mahomes hovered between 92-95."
  14. From the least deep to the deepest, how would you rank the 2005, 2011, and 2014 draft class?
  15. At least he's a HS pitcher. Saw video of him in 2013 and it wasn't appealing. Then saw a small video of 2014 and he definitely appeared better. In 2013 the pitches were flat easy to pick up. In the 2014 video the pitches had some more downward plane, the video was taken at an angle a little too far off to decide how easily it was to pick up. You read the mock and at 18...18! the pick of Luis Ortiz with the tidbit that he could be the best of all the HS pitchers drafted in 3 years. Watched another video of Ortiz and I am still a big fan of him should he be there for the Brewers. I think Aiken is gaining steam as noted above that he's off the board before Milw picks. But that's okay if we land Ortiz imo. Oh, and no way Kolek falls to #5 imo. If I'm Houston, I am strongly considering him over Rodon right now. Kolek looks way more impressive to me than Rodon does and he's younger, just what Houston should be after, after tabbing Appel last draft. There's this video: I'm no scout, but the fastball doesn't seem that flat and the curveball is very sharp, albeit he seemed to be a bit off on the command. If Aiken is gone by the time the Brewers pick, I'm hoping for either Holmes or Ortiz.
  16. Lots and lots of impressive pitchers for this year's draft class. And I'm guessing that the hitters are no slouch either. The Brewers have their work cut out for them now, having to pick between many impressive players. I'm personally hoping for either Aiken or Holmes, although Ortiz would be a pretty good pick too.
  17. According to Kiley McDaniel on Twitter: "Brady Aiken-Alex Jackson matchup note: Aiken was sitting 93-96 mph, went 94 & 95 on 2nd hitter Jackson, then backwards K on 80 mph hammer." *drools* A lefty who can throw in the mid-90s with a hammer curve? Yes please! *drools some more*
  18. Guys who can throw hard AND throw strikes aren't gonna be available at 12. At 12 generally there are gonna be guys who can throw hard but will have to work on control/command. And guys who don't throw hard but throw strikes don't have much of an upside, and the Brewers already have plenty of guys who can fit in the back of the rotation.
  19. Right now I'm intrigued by Dylan Cease. He already has shown the ability to touch the upper-90s and he seems to have some room left to grow into. He also seems to have potential for a good curveball.
  20. I call dibs on the Brewers and the Nationals.
  21. Missed this when it was initially posted, but found a write up about him on the Power50 from a few years ago; "Ladies and gentleman, we would like to present you with a future Brewers top 10 prospect by the name of Osmel Perez. The young Mr. Perez will be just 17 this season, and already features a 90-94 MPH fastball, a plus changeup and a good slider. He threw 28 2/3 mostly outstanding innings last summer in the Dominican Summer League and stands a decent chance at pitching in Arizona this summer. Look out world... it's Osmel!" Makes you wonder why the kid would just up and quit. You have to wonder just what it was that made him decide at 18 years of age to hang it up. With his age and stuff... ah, what could've been... Hopefully all's well with him right now.
  22. If that happens, I'm gonna lose all faith in the front office.
