  1. I feel bad for thinking this, but when I read your question, the sarcastic response that immediately flashed through my head was, 'I dunno -- which one is the big-framed college pitcher who projects to be a #3 or #4 type in a best-case scenario?' I think the Brewers have given up on that philosophy. In 2012 and 2013 they drafted guys with high ceilings and considerable risks, and maybe they'll go the same route in 2014.
  2. What about Michael Cederoth? He has a blistering fastball and that's a good place to start. I don't want the Brewers to select Burdi. His delivery will ultimately place him in the bullpen. One does not select a reliever in the top 5. Another name to consider would be Tyler Kolek. He's not mentioned in the top 5 yet, but with an upper 90s fastball with a plus curve ball and slider he could make his way there.
  3. Yes, but guys like Fried and Ross, who would be the ideal guys to trade for, are more than 2-3 years away from the majors, I believe.
  4. But one would think that the Brewers FO would want MLB ready prospects. Typically in trades they've went for guys who are close to contributing in the majors.
  5. The deal with Arizona is possible, the deal with Padres has a chance of happening but the Brewers would most likely send more to get Fried and Ross. The deal with Tigers and A's are impossible. Don't know about the rest.
  6. Well the Giants are more well known than the Brewers. Heck, I bet that there are some people out there who can't figure out which region of the U.S Milwaukee is located in.
  7. I really do hope that the FO doesn't go for a costly veteran this off season in an effort to compete. This team needs long term solutions, not signing expensive veterans, losing draft picks in the process, and desperately hope that things come together.
  8. Now that Gian Rizzo is in Maryvale, hopefully we start seeing some scouting reports.
  9. Well at the end of the day it doesn't matter what WE think and it doesn't matter what DM thinks. It's all in Mark A.'s hands.
  10. Actually, according to Ben Badler, there are two that are linked to the Brewers.
  11. Don't forget about Anthony Ranaudo. He's been pitching well this year and could be a #2/3 starter
  12. As for Hellweg, he was actually terrible as a reliever. That's one of the main reasons why he became a starter in the first place.
  13. Normally guys who are have raw power will normally strike out more as they expand their strike zone more. I know that, I'm just saying that as long as he makes contact at a good enough pace to utilize his raw power.
  14. Nice to have someone with amazing raw power in the lower minors. If he doesn't strike out too much he could turn out to be something special.
  15. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Here are some trade scenarios, but I think they're highly unlikely. Especially the one with the Orioles: http://wisportsblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-few-ideas-for-brewers-at-trade.html
  17. I would love it if the Brewers sign Denson.
  18. To be painfully blunt, it's because our top pitching prospects aren't top prospects on the larger scale. That too. Remember how the Brewers drafted Jungmann and Bradley over Fernandez, Guerrieri, and Stephenson? The brilliance of this method is just way beyond my level of comprehension!
  19. Well Jungmann wasn't much of a strike out pitcher to begin with, Hellweg is probably just trying to make sure he can throw strikes rather than seeing whether guys will whiff at stuff outside the zone, Bradley is probably just trying to get good results and focusing too much on striking guys out probably won't help.
  20. I'd really like to see brewcrewdue80's idea happen. I also wonder if the Brewers can nab Miguel Almonte and Bubba Starling from the Royals for Weeks.
  21. So after signing Devin Williams the Brewers have spent a total of a little over $3.5mil, I think. I wonder how much it'll take to sign Denson. Perhaps $300,000 would be enough?
  22. Well it's official. Brewers sign Devin Williams for $1.35mil
  23. 1. Jimmy Nelson, RHP 2. Tyrone Taylor, OF 3. Orlando Arcia, SS 4. Johnny Hellweg, RHP 5. Hunter Morris, 1B 6. Ariel Pena, RHP 7. Mitch Haniger, OF 8. Taylor Jungmann, RHP 9. Devin Williams, RHP 10. Clint Coulter, C 11. Victor Roache, OF 12. Tucker Neuhaus, 3B 13. Jorge Lopez, RHP 14. Jed Bradley, LHP 15. Michael Reed, OF 16. Tyler Thornburg, RHP 17. Scooter Gennett 18. Jose Pena, OF 19. Damien Magnifico, RHP 20. Chris McFarland, 2B 21. Zach Quintana, RHP 22. Cameron Garfield, C 23. Drew Gagnon, RHP 24. Khris Davis, OF 25. Yadiel Rivera, SS
  24. Hmmm I would like to see a standout tool but having solid tools across the board, not to mention that there is a possibility of sticking at a premium position (CF), is still a plus. And the fact that he is making a lot of contact is encouraging. If and once he does fill out he should be able to hit more home runs.
  25. According to Baseball America, the Brewers are one of the teams tied to top international prospects. However, I'm not an insider so I don't have the details. If anyone is an insider then some info on who the Brewers are linked to would be nice. Link: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/july-2-notebook-international-scouting-reports/
