  1. He pinch hit like 2 innings ago The way he's playing that applies always...
  2. Perez needs to lean in and take one for the team...
  3. Schoop needs to lean in and take one for the team...
  4. Arcia needs to lean in and take one for the team...
  5. Kratz needs to lean in and take one for the team...
  6. No QO. Has to do with when he was acquired. IIRC the player has to be with the team opening day to qualify for QO...
  7. 2 of 3? Schoop has been horrible, Moose is not better than Shaw (the man he replaced at 3B), and Soria gave the Brewers 5 IP before landing on the DL. This trade deadline is looking like a disaster. I get where you are coming from and it looks like the fat lady is on stage and doing some vocal exercises, but she hasn't begun to sing... Moose doesn't have to be better than Shaw, he has to be better than 2B since we still have Shaw's bat in the lineup Moose is really a replacement for our 2B production. So far not horrible. Soria has been fine so far outside of a bad outing and that may have been related to his quad strain. So far pretty good. Schoop has been an utter nightmare since we got him. He makes Arcia look like a great hitter... If he doesn't get it going soon, I hope the fat lady sits on him when she starts to sing...
  8. At least the Cubs are getting pounded today. Lester has been less than stellar his past few starts. He gave up 8 today, now Chatwood is in for mop up duty. They are toying with us. We get a little bit of hope back that we still have a decent chance and then they run off a few wins while the Brewers go 500... I've seen this too many times before to fall for it this time.
  9. I can't help it, I'm an ellipsesileptic... see.... can't help myself...........
  10. We have Cain, Yelich, Thames and Aguilar for 3 OF and 1B... Where would Davis play? All of them are better than he is at this point. . Then you have a $20M PH in Braun sitting on the bench. Davis is like a shot of alcohol... empty calories with no nutrition..
  11. Can we play different players today? or should we just give the Braves fans more to enjoy? I hate playing the Braves, the carpetbaggers who abandoned Milwaukee and left us with a minor league team for 48 years... Losing to them is especially insulting...
  12. But according to CC's manager manual, Hader can only pitch in games the brewers lead by a few runs or are tied and since June 1st that hasn't happened often. Barnes OTH pitches when the team is behind or ahead by a lot so he's had more opportunity to play (the behind part mostly as being ahead by a lot is pretty much impossible with this team).. Since the end of May this team is a 500 ballclub that had built up a 16 win lead. That puts them on pace for 89 wins without looking at strength of schedule, etc. So they are still very much in the chase for a wild card, but a team that has struggled to put any sustained winning streak for 2.5 months and is looking more and more like a 500 team is very unlikely to march into the post-season on a tear. Could happen... Likely won't happen...
  13. We traded Jonathan Villar with the Baggage for Jonathan Villar without the Baggage... we threw in 2 prospects to get rid of the baggage... Yeah!
  14. You might want to see him pitch against another offense before making that conclusion.... The Clown Car Offense can make any pitcher look like Cy Young...
  15. Replying to a post in yesterday's IGT, I found this info of Soria's pitch type from Fangraphs: _____________FB%_____SL%_____CB%______CH% White Sox____63.1______9.8_______9.5______17.6 Brewers______74.5_____14.5_______0.9______10.0 Visually, it did seem to me he has been mostly throwing fastballs with the Brewers and few sliders, but the numbers indicate he has been throwing the slider plenty, but he has dramatically cut down on curveballs and changeups. While the numbers are small for his Brewer time, he seems to be struggling a bit with his offspead pitches which might be part of the reason his FIP has doubled with the Brewers and his ERA- is way down (of course 1 bad outing is amplified in the small sample size)... There still is a shift in his pitch usage.....
  16. I watched most of the West coast trip and it did seem that he was throwing a lot of fastballs. From Fangraphs his % fastball and slider are up significantly since he joined the Brewers.... Curve and changeup are way down. So yes he is throwing a lot of FB and SL, but not many CB or CH... (89% FB/SL with Brewers compared to 73% with White Sox) Not enough data to help with the Crazy part...
  17. His PA for those 3 years: 2016 430 2017 458 2018 350 (est based on current) While there's been plenty of complaining in the IGT about him getting too many starts, he's actually on pace to have his fewest PA while a Brewer... Also, based on the numbers, he doesn't require a lot of starts to stay sharp as he's hitting better this season than any previous (OPS is down league-wide so .721 in 2018 >= .730 in 2016) and his worst year he had the most PA... He's fine in a reserve role as he couldn't take a walk to save his life and the last thing the Brewers need is more PA for a .300 OBP guy... defense and versatility make him a great 10th man...
  18. Knebel has never been a pitcher who can play with the edges of the strike zone. He just doesn't have the control, what he does have is a very fast fastball and a wicked knuckle curve... So many times I see the Brewers catcher trying to get pinpoint location of his pitches... Knebel has the stuff that he should be hammering the strike zone, pitch after pitch after pitch. Make the other team swing and hit his best stuff. What are the chances that the 3 weak hitters on the Padres would all get hits off Knebel if he actually challenged the hitters? close to zero... Pina/Kratz should be setting up middle of the plate about mid thigh and let Knebel go... With the movement on his pitches very few would be down the middle.... Sure the Brewers have a bunch of marginal pitchers where location is critical to their success... I don't think Knebel is in that category and if he is, then we need him pitching the 6th inning and not the 9th inning...
  19. Stearns was feeling burned by the tepid return he got for the premier slugger in the game right now, Khris Davis, and was holding out for more for Santana. He overrated Santana when he dealt Davis to make room for him and he thought his value was more that it was but scouts had concerns. Join us next week for another episode of Being David Stearns where we learn what he was really thinking when he released Scooter Gennett....
  20. Over their history the Brewers have been: 3793-0 when leading at the end of the game, and 0-4128 when behind at the end of the game If we could just be ahead at the end of the game we will win.... QED
  21. Service time is not counted after the last day of the regular season (the regular season also includes any tie-breaking games). The regular season is now usually about 185 days long (186 this year), from Opening Day to the last day. Players can accrue up to 172 days of service time during the season; 172 days of service time is considered a full season. I believe to be hired by MLB you have to agree that 185 = 172.... which would explain many of the replay challenge decisions....
  22. Was that a Sacrifice Fly? Is that the first of the year for the Brewers?
