  1. Finding ways to win is infinitely better than finding ways to lose...
  2. First rule of hiking in the wilderness: Bring along someone slower than you... First rule of MLB roster construction: Have the 25th player be so bad that the rest of the team is relaxed knowing someone else will lose their job first...
  3. 3-0 since Sogard's return... he just wills the team to win...
  4. There are innings Chacin looks unhitable and there are innings he takes a dump on the mound...
  5. Did the Brewers send Brent Suter out for the top of the 2nd and ask him to pitch right handed?
  6. Glad to see Sogard in the lineup. He's hitting .750 against Wheeler. I imagine sometime, in the not too distant future, a computer program will determine the starters and lineup and even assist/make in game decisions. This may be the only time that program would choose to insert Sogard into the starting lineup... I have a few IQ litmus tests that have proven near 100% fool-proof - one is "Do you drive a mini cooper?"... This would be another "Would you start Eric Sogard at SS against Zach Wheeler?"...
  7. So we're surprised that CC got his adoptive little brother back into the starting lineup after only 2 days? CC must have had a sleepless night on Friday racking his brain for a reason to put little C into the lineup on Saturday...
  8. They are 32-13 when they play someone other than the Cubs. That's an 103 win team even if they lose all their remaining games with the Cubs....
  9. I've seen several games this year where the Brewers pitch/location has been very predictable. For example, last night I could predict where and what pitch was coming and got it right about 50% of the time. That's way too high a percentage and I think other teams are picking up on it. I just tuned in during the top of the 3rd so I didn't see the prior batters, but I was also able to predict 50% of the pitches to Gonzalez, Reyes and Vargas. A hitter who half the time knows where to look for a pitch and what pitch to expect is going to hit balls hard (like out of the park). I think the brewers need to do a better job in pitch selection/location as they may becoming predictable.
  10. Closers shouldn't get the chance to walk 3... After 2, time for a change. But it clearly states in the Managers Handbook that a Closer, closes games.... Unfortunately the edition CC has was cowritten by Ned Yost and RRR...
  11. Get the first two outs, then crap your pants!??!! At least there's a chance we end the top of the ninth tied...
  12. Nelson out for first half, Thames down for 8 weeks, Braun playing poorly the whole season, Yelich out for almost 2 weeks, Davies out for several weeks, Chase missing 1-2 starts and the team is still off to their best start ever! As I pointed out in the '90 wins' thread, there is room for regression by the Bullpen and starting pitching, but this team is rolling yet they have not been lucky, they've been GREAT! Brewers baseball is back to being fun!
  13. On May 21 of 2017 Arcia's line was .230/.277/.637 From that day forward to the end of the year he went .293/.340/.422 He'd have to hit with a .762 OPS for 45 games to get his OPS to .637... If he was hitting 0.637 nobody would be on his case, but so far he is way way down from last year and as JimH pointed out he is absolutely lost at the plate. Saladino needs to get more starts while Orlando gets some tutoring... or a demotion...
  14. A quick scan of the box score shows clearly that the worst batter to get on base today was, surprisingly, Hernan Perez. So everyone complaining about him at the top of the order was correct and the posters who used the outcome of the game to evaluate whether 1 player was in the right batting order position, were wrong. Kinda like judging a pitcher by their W-L record... bassackwards thunking...
  15. With the way Saladino has been playing, Arcia should be seeing a lot more time off... Basically until Saladino's OPS drops off to Arcia + 0.050 which is sometime in September given Arcia's current numbers...
  16. Was every one of those pitches to Ji-man at his shoelaces?
  17. [sarcasm]Naw, much more fun to read posters playing out their petty grievances on every play involving a certain player...[/sarcasm]
  18. Well that was progress for Arcia, he actually hit 2 of the 3 pitches he swung at....
  19. This is what we're built for... hand the lead over to the bullpen to try to hold... I like our chances.
  20. Orlando Arcia has officially found the Mendoza line.... He found it, he embraced it, he owns it... Years from now it will be known as the Arcia line...
