    The Brewers won 93 games last year and lost 1 key guy worth 3.1 wins. Obviously they aren't guarenteed to win the NL Central or anything but I don't get so many people writing them off either

    I think you're missing some key bullpen guys like Mears and Alexander. I'd also be stunned if Henderson, Patrick, or Rodriguez are in the Opening Day roster(barring further injuries) I've been banging the Luis Urias drum for a little while now as 3b depth. Iglesias is meh, I wouldnt hate it but I don't think its necessary. But besides that I'm content to see what a Dunn/Durbin platoon provides and if they fall on their face they can make a move midseason like they've done in the past(Adames, Rowdy, Civale, etc.) I don't think we really need to add anything to the rotation or bullpen.

    At this point yes. DeJong isn't very good. Rather go with the young guys and see if they have something. If they don't the Brewers can acquire someone midseason or at the deadline.

    I'd pass on DeJong, he hasn't had an OPS+ over 100 since 2018. The only guy that truly intruiges me is Urias. The rest are just fodder and I'd rather see what the young guys have instead. If Dunn/Durbin can't handle it then they can trade for another IF at the deadline

    I cant buy the idea that the Brewers should have paid Adames that much money for "his presence in the clubhouse". I love Willy and everything he did for the Brewers but imo it was the right move to let him walk to SF

    Luis Urias would make some sense as a utility hitter. He's had an OPS+ above 100 3 of the last 4 years and he's a capable defender at 2b & 3b

    Willy Adames was worth 3.1 WAR last year. Do I think Dunn/Durbin will combine for 3.1 WAR? Probably not. But I think it's possible they can combine for 2 WAR, and then internal development from guys like Chourio, Mitchell, or Frelick can help offset that as well. As good as Adames was offensively I think it's glossed over how bad he was defensively. Now none of this is a sure thing. But Dunn/Durbin is the only starting spot that I think isn't filled by a capable big league player, so I'm not going to grade this offseason as poor. As stated by another poster previously as well this time last year nobody was talking about Jared Koenig or Tobias Myers.

    Yea. That's sort of why I don't think it was good or bad and when I gave it a C grade. Frankly the Brewers didn't have a lot of "needs" going into the offseason so they didn't have to do a lot. And the two needs they did have of another SP & another IF were both rolled up into the Devin Williams trade. I think it's fair to question a Durbin/Dunn platoon but outside of that I think the rest of the team is filled with capable solid players

    Bad or boring? It was a boring offseason for sure, I'm not sure I'd classify it as good or bad

    C. Assuming things stay the same then the Brewers are really banking on Caleb Durbin and/or Oliver Dunn for that final IF spot. Outside of that though I don't think the Brewers needed to do much. They have 4 solid Starting pitchers and a slew of young guys who hopefully can step up when injuries occur(plus the Wildcard that is Woodruff) They return most of what is a very good bullpen from last year Their OF remains stacked with 2 really good players(Yelich, Chourio), another who has shown real potential(Mitchell), and 2 more who are more than capable of playing in the bigs(Frelick, Perkins) And lastly in the IF Ortiz & Turang return, both of whom are young and had solid years last year. Hoskins returns who wasn't great last year but provides much needed power at least. We'll see if we get anything from Black. Long story short, the Brewers didn't do much, but also the only spot I question heading into Spring Training is that final IF spot

    I get that Yelich is the worst defender of our 5 outfielders but he actually grades out as above average in LF so if he sees some time there I'm fine with it. Not everyday but on days Contreras or Hoskins DH it's fine

    I'd even go as far as saying it's 1. Perkins 2. Mitchell 3. Frelick 4. Chourio Last year when Perkins played he played CF every time. If both Perkins & Mitchell played they moved Mitchell to RF

    I've read through this thread and find the debate interesting. But I wanted to point out that the bolded part is inaccurate. Mark A's ownership group had been in charge over a decade before making the Yelich trade. They also made the Greinke trade as well. They signed Cain to a 5 year deal, Garza to a 4 year deal, Lohse to a 3 year deal. They've made some fairly big moves during his ownership time

    In 2023 Devin Williams was good for 2.6 WAR(Devin was hurt last year so I used 2023), last season, Nestor Cortes was also good for 2.6 WAR. If they each perform to their most recent full season it'll be a wash and then whatever the Brewers get from Durbin over the next 6 years would be a bonus.

    So now that we know who signed and who didn't how would we rank this year's class individually? I'm assuming Meccage is #1, then Payne #2? Where do the day 3 guys we signed fall?

    I'm going to guess he had an out in his contract coming up otherwise this makes no sense.
