  1. I think we have a slightly better bench than St.Louis and Cincinnati if Green & Aoki play to expectations and slightly worse if they don't. Obviously a lot is still unknown but to say right off the bat that our bench is a weakness without seeing what Green & Aoki(2 players that some fans wanted to be starters) can do is a little premature. Bench players are bench players for a reason. If a player could hit and field he would be a starter. And who says we have no pinch hitting ability? Aoki was a top hitter in Japan. People didn't want Green up for his defense. And Conrad has decent pop. With 2 Defensive/pinch runners for late in games. I really like our bench
  2. So appartently Melvin offered him a NRI. Can't say i blame him. Would have been interesting to see how a Renteria/Izturis battle would have turned out
  3. Ok but compare it other benches around the league and I pretty sure we have one of the better ones
  4. If we can go 5/85 for him whats stopping us from going 6/110? I would be all for that as we would have both Gallardo and Greinke locked up for quite awhile
  5. Even if Aoki only bats .230/.290 with little power and Green bats .250/.310 and hits for 8-10 hrs I still think thats pretty solid from the bench. when you look around the league who has the potential for better bench than us? not many teams imo. There are a lot of people that wanted to start Green this year and others wanted to trade Morgan when we signed Aoki. I think we have 1-2 starting caliber players (Gomez & Green) another with starter potential(Aoki) and a defensive wiz(Izturis) with an average back up catcher. That sounds pretty nice to me.
  6. I don't understand how some people can be upset with this bench? I think this is one of the strongest benches we have had in quite awhile. Aoki imo could develop into a solid starter and has talent to be a better than average 4th of. Gomez's d is absolutely amazing as is his ability to be a late inning pinch runner. Izturis can cover the whole infield late in games and should be adequete to give guys a day off. and either Conrad or Green should be a solid power option and the #1 or 2 pinch hitter. As for replacing Fielder I believe the Brewers did as good a job as they could of. Ramirez, Gamel, & Gonzalez should be able to match the equivalent of Fielder, McGehee, & Yuni when you count in defense. We will have a full year of Krod this year. I fully expect 90 wins this year and 87 or 88 if Braun is suspended. Which imo should put us right in the division race
  7. As brought up by RightFieldCoder in another thread I really don't wanna see a lineup of like the one below on opening day. However I Think this is totally realistic to see.(If Braun is suspended) RF Hart CF Morgan 2B Weeks 3B Ramirez SS Gonzalez LF Aoki 1B Gamel C LuCroy
  8. sadly....If Braun is suspended I could see that being the opening day lineup. However I think Gamel is going to out produce everyone's expectations and hit right around a Mike Morse level and just improve next season. Hopefully the future of the lineup has Gamel, Braun, Weeks, Ramirez. Assuming Hart is eventually traded or leaves in FA
  9. I am a big fan of what Billy Beane used to do, But in recent seasons it just seems like he has lost it. He hasn't put together a solid team in awhile and they don't project to win again until 2014ish or so. thatd be about 7ish years of losing in a row.
  10. He just spent 36 million dollars on a very unproven player who has only played as high as A or AA depending on where you think the cuban league ranks. He traded young players for Seth Smith and signed Jonny Gomes also. How many veteran OF's do you need when you also have Cespedes and Crisp guarenteed playing time. Manny is just going to take away at bats from young players to try and develop them. Plus he his know to be a cancer among the team. I wouldn't want him around my young players at all.
  11. Who do you all think makes the all star team this year? I got Ramirez, Weeks, Greinke, & Braun(if not suspended)
  12. I really do not get what Billy Beane is doing now a days.
  13. I honestly am a little dissapointed he didn't go to the cubs. He also got less than I figured he would. If he turns out Oakland could have a solid team in a few years. If not they could also be a fail ofa team
  14. Weren't people contemplating the 3rd year of Wolf's deal to. Now some people(atleast I am) are thinking that maybe that 4th year option isn't such a bad idea. Ramirez could definately go that route as well imo. Hes alot more like a wolf then a suppan type signing to me.
  15. I think Mat will be a solid option. I expect a .260 avg with around a .330 obp and 20-25 hrs and 75-80 rbis. I also expect him to lead all 1b in the majors in stolen bases.
  16. So as of right now who do you believe would start opening day? Greinke or Gallardo? I would have to lean Gallardo at this point
  17. Ok sorry my fault then that I didn't see it. feel free to remove it.
  18. You don't have a checkmark by SS and I am assuming your counting on Braun getting suspended or no way Holliday is better than him?
  19. well in the article it mentions the phillies eating 30% of the contract
  20. http://philadelphia.cbslo...been-a-milwaukee-brewer/ I don't know if anyone saw this but i find this interesting. wonder what it would have took. obviously not going to happen now
  21. I tend to agree with this statement. Obviously as the season went on we were able to acquire more talent, but I think this team definately has the potential to go to the playoffs, and we all know once you get in the playoffs anything can happen. I consider us improved at C, SS, 3B, CF, the bench, and the bullpen and have downgraded at 1B. Now a lot will depend on injuries but this team definately has a chance
  22. I think by signing Greinke to a say 5/6 yr deal it ensures the Brewers of remaining competitive for the division for the next several Seasons. and anything can happen once you get in the playoffs.
  23. Player of the Year: Ryan Braun - Determined to show that he wasnt performing because of PED's or whatever is going on with that case. He has another sensational season Pitcher of the Year: Zack Greinke - About time his peripherals show his real performance. Rookie of the Year: Nori Aoki - If everything goes right he should be the only rookie playing a decent amount of time this year Surprise Player: Shaun Marcum( does even better than last year and is our best pitcher in the playoffs) Disappointment: Jose Veras (never nails down the 7th inning job securly leaving spot open most of the year) Questions Answered: 1) Who will get the first contract extension? Its gotta be Greinke right? 2) Who will be the first traded away or released(off the expected 25 man roster)? George Kottaras 3) What position in the NL Central will the Brewers finish? 1st Record: 91-71
  24. I wouldn't mind him going to Washington. I could still root for the guy there. Plus we get the 16th pick which would be pretty sweet. And finally put an end to this.
  25. Honestly the Reds worry me more than the Cardinals do. You talk about how our lineup is going to be without Prince, I think Pujols had an even bigger effect on St.Louis. Wainwright won't be the same right away when he comes back and Carp will be a little bit older. After that in their rotation I see just a bunch of average starters. The reds are the team that really scare me this year. Solid Rotation, Solid lineup and solid bullpen. Isn't that what we say about the Cardinals every year? I don't count them out until the math does and right now the odds of St. Louis winning the division is the same as Milwaukee.Oh I'm not counting them out by any stretch. I fully expect them to come out fighting. But on paper they don't scare me as much as the reds
