  1. no, i didnt expect him to stay at 385 all season. He seemed unstoppable at the plate. However, he was over the halfway point and hitting 385, so I was expecting/hoping for a 360ish finish. He has plummeted back to the pack in a very short span, which was just disappointing to see. This doesnt make him bad, but it scares me in that it might be the first half was flukey. So yes, I'm having to temper my enthusiasm. My point about it being at the time of Laporta's departure is just a time reference point..its recent in other words.
  2. Braun didnt really have less errors, and he also (apparently) had less range. In his last full year of the minors, Braun had an .890 FP%, compared to Gamel at the same age this year, who currently sports a .919 FP% at the same age and level. Gamel has 25 errors in 108 games compared to 31 in 115 for Braun, and Gamel's attempts are significantly higher. Another interesting thing is that Gamel gets all of his error in small stretches, indicating that it is mainly a mental aspect of his game that he sometimes loses. I think he sticks at third. It's where the organization needs him. I'm more concerned with his batting average "falling of a cliff" since Laporta has been gone. He went from a mid-380s to mid-340s overnight it seems.
  3. Gamel's bat is completely frozen right now.. Escobar may actually catch his batting average!
  4. Yeah, I'm in it for the long haul..would prefer seeing us stockpile talent.
  5. Gamel has been in a free-fall the past 2 weeks... lost about 30 pts on his avg..
  6. sadly, he's representative of most Yost supporters
  7. yeah, a brewers/yankees WS would be nice. Braun could "Close Down" the house that "Ruth Built"
  8. 4-game road sweep at St Louis. Only doing so in Chicago could be better. Go BENNY
  9. just thought it deserved a bump after the yost tossing
  10. I must say the 7-2 odds for the pennant from the crew looks pretty decent to me
  11. the Cubs last month is brutal compared to the Crew's. If these teams are close heading into September, the Brewers should be able to pull away. Also, the Cubs are dangerously close to a complete meltdown right now. Their bats have been suspciously quiet, and their pen is wearing down or even collapsing.
  12. wow even full charging of the baseball
  13. you can just see the life getting sucked out of the St Louis fans as if they are witnessing the turning point in the cards' season
  14. not exactly true. Cards could go on a tear and win the division, and the scrubs could fall on their faces, and the Brewers would make the playoffs.
  15. the last month is pretty brutal for the scrubs. If the Brewers are within 2 games at that point, I'd be feeling pretty good.
  16. I agree that its unfair to paste him as a journeyman. It seems a given from everyone's perspective, with no need to consider his health into the equation... I disagre..
  17. Durham has a 787 OPS after last year's 638 OPS at the end of his career Nelson hasnt peaked yet and has an 892 OPS.. I cant tell from those stats who would be better offensively this year.
  18. I'm guessing because he also fills the need of backup 2B that Nelson can't offer
  19. Durham is definitely not an offensive upgrade over Weeks. You lose power and SBs with Durham. Durham is having a better year so far, but they seem like a wash offensively from this point forward this year.
  20. yeah that doesnt sound even remotely believeable. I'm starting to like the sound of the "Huntsville" for "Lincecum" though
  21. Nelson & Salome's names just popped in to the trade rumor going on...apologies, salome, not escobar
  22. this just posted on the TH thread "WSSP 1250 AM in Milwaukee is reporting that Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants are close to a deal that would send Milwaukee's Double A Catcher Angel Salome, Single A prospect Outfielder/speedster Darren Ford, and Triple A First Baseman Brad Nelson to the Giants for Second Baseman Ray Durham, Reliever Jack Taschner, and a PTBNL." Hard to believe
  23. yeah I'm not buying Ford straight up for Street. Has to be a mid-level AA player involved in this.
  24. you neglected to mention 5 Ks..nice
  25. right now its way too early to call it a busted swap as pointed out. It helped bolster their bullpen for a shot at the playoffs and its tough to say Inman/Garrison are superior to Dykstra/Frederickson. Right now the deal still looks pretty even in spite of the moaning you'll hear from Maas. Hopefully the front office knew enough about these guys in their internal scouting to prefer the draft picks. As for this year's CC deal, it can ONLY be good if the Brewers make the playoffs. There were just way too many dear trading chips for them not to win. And its totally fair to judge this by the outcome rather than potential as Doug should have a lot more insight into how the Brewers stack up to the wild card competition than us fans.
