  1. Brewers have now won three consecutive series. That’s something the Brewers never accomplished last season, and they only won back-to-back series once.
  2. Brewers have now won three series in a row. Keep winning series and this will be a fun season.
  3. Brewers are just smoking the ball in today’s first inning. Great to see.
  4. Corbin Burnes: Batter (Cubs) vs Pitching Stats Jake Arrieta: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Cubs-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Cubs-Brewers
  5. Contreras admitted in his post-game interview that they tried to hit Woodruff. I appreciate the candidness, I guess.
  6. It sucks losing a close game, but probably needed to generate scoring beyond just a Urias HR offensively to feel like it’s truly one that slipped away. Lots of hard contact for the Brewers tonight, just not much to show for it.
  7. Nothing frustrates me more than an important at bat starting with a first pitch called strike 3 inches outside the strike zone.
  8. Scheduled to hit... JBJ Piña Urias Robertson Have to think Narvaez might be in play to pinch hit here.
  9. Suter has been the most reliable reliever over the past year that doesn’t fit the “dominant” category that Hader and Williams fall in. Since they made a point to say Williams wasn’t going to get high leverage and they refuse to use Hader in the 8th, I am not convinced there were better options.
  10. He started spring training slow (and had the hamstring injury), but then was really hitting the ball well over the last two weeks of the spring. Hoping he starts to heat up again.
  11. For as hard as they hit Alec Mills it’s sort of incredible nothing ever falls in for a base hit. They have two home runs and no other base hits against him over the 13.1 innings they’ve faced him going back to last year.
  12. Would’ve liked forcing Mills to throw more than 9 pitches to get through the 1st inning.
  13. On the one hand, Alec Mills no hit the Brewers last season. On the other hand, he hasn’t thrown more than 40 pitches in an appearance yet this year, and that season high 40 pitch appearance was just three days ago (April 10).
  14. I’ll give it to Trent Grisham, he’s certainly a fast starter. Padres are playing the Pirates this week. Grisham now has three home runs to go with a single, a double, and two walks in his first 13 plate appearances since returning from the IL with a hamstring injury. He was out of this world good to start last season and then trailed off considerably, curious to see how this season plays out for him.
  15. Yelich remains out of the lineup again this evening. Per Adam McCalvy... Counsell on Christian Yelich (back): "Improving, but we're going to hold him out of the lineup today." Hiura is back in the #2 spot. It could be a really dumb theory, but I felt like Hiura was well suited for batting 6th right now since it’s a lower pressure spot for him to get at bats. Speaking of the 6th spot, has anyone ever looked at JBJs career splits batting in the 6th spot? For his career he has a .831 OPS when batting 6th (466 plate appearances) which is by far his best of any spot in the batting order where he’s had 200+ PAs. Batting order very well might be silly and meaningless, but I do wonder if certain hitters change their mentality and approach a bit based on where they fall within the order. Regardless, I’ll admit that based on tonight’s collection of hitters guys like Hiura and JBJ probably should be batting in the top five. Lastly, a bit surprised they are going with just two left-handed hitting position players versus Kyle Hendricks. His pitching splits aren’t extreme by any means, but he’s been tougher on RHH than LHH over his career.
  16. The Cubs COVID related issues continue... The Cubs today selected INF Ildemaro Vargas from the South Bend Alternate Site. INF Matt Duffy has been placed on the COVID-19 related IL.
  17. If you want end up smiling from ear-to-ear read this Corbin Burnes article from MLB.com’s Mike Petriello: How Burnes is even more dominant in 2021

  19. Did he actually say that? It wasn't enough to just leave Perdomo off the lineup card? He had to turn around and give him and Yardley the finger too? No, he said, “look it was our mistake.” He said it’s an automated system and “for whatever reason he wasn’t on the lineup given the umpires” and that it’s the Brewers fault for not double checking the lineup in the system.
  20. I’m really happy the offense came alive in the second half of this game and Peralta looks like he could be on the brink of dominating consistently. I’m salty because that botched lineup card thing can’t happen and I wanted to inflate the run differential by 5 more tonight.
  21. I might have to stay up for Counsell’s post-game press conference tonight. I wish they’d show more of it than the two questions they’ve been showing this year.
