  1. That’s so great! Hopefully you get to witness a series sweep, but if not it’ll still just be an amazing feeling to be back at a ballpark again!
  2. It wouldn’t be a bad day to pitch around Trent Grisham a bit (or go excessive with the changeup usage). Houser is the type of pitcher Grisham has thrived against in San Diego. Houser relies on his 4-seamer and sinker ~65% of the time. Those are pitches Grisham has been crushing, and obviously Houser’s issues against LHHs are well documented. EDIT: On second thought I’m not sure Houser should throw his secondary pitches much either (link)... Opponent wOBA by pitch type against Houser this year: Curveball: .526 Changeup: .871 Slider: .358
  3. That’s definitely what conventional wisdom would suggest, but Lamet claimed the following yesterday (link)... Dinelson Lamet says there's no limit. That's why they took their time. He plans to go out there and compete like he normally would. Curious to find out if he’s right.
  4. A (Not So) Fun Fact: The two highest strikeout games of Dinelson Lamet’s career have come against the Brewers. On September 18, 2019 he struck out 14 Brewers hitters in just 6.0 IP. On June 17, 2017 he struck out 12 Brewers hitters also in 6.0 IP. Those were his only two career appearances versus the Brewers. He does have one other career game in which he reached 12 strikeouts (versus the Mariners in 2019).

  6. I’ll feel a lot better if they get through this Yardley inning unscathed. EDIT: I think I’d forgot that Yardley is actually quite a bit more effective versus LHH than RHH.
  7. If the runner had been thrown out would they still have called it umpire interference? Like is it considered a dead ball, or can only good outcomes happen for the catcher once that occurs.
  8. Which tells you all those stats are still subjective, and often wrong. Defensive metrics another good example. It looks so scientific, it's not. I believe the expected batting average is based on launch angle and exit velocity, it doesn’t take into account precise location of the batted ball. They showed on the broadcast that the “catch probability” was just 30%, and that seems like it probably isn’t that far off.
  9. Holy..... what???? Billy McKinney, wowwwww. I’ll be honest, I had no idea he had that type of defensive play in him. Incredible.
  10. I’ve always thought of it as all 9 players hitting in the inning, but I can understand the argument for needing a hitter to bat twice.
  11. Was looking at statcast stuff today and you could make the strong argument that he's been the worst hitter in the league. He currently has a -27 wRC+. The only MLB hitters that have been worse (with a minimum of 30 PA) are Martin Maldonado (-40), Elias Diaz (-38), and Leody Taveras (-33).
  12. In the Cubs game the Mets have loaded the bases in 9th with one out against Kimbrel. The Cubs lead 3-1. EDIT: Cubs held on for the win.
  13. Blue? No, because we also have a HOF talent in Taylor on our bench as well. And don’t forget Braun is probably coming back in July.
  14. A 5’7” Hiura with a Vogelbach up at 1B blows up that defense first theory. Getting rid of Arica for potential fringe arms does too. Except it isn’t an all or nothing situation. You can be weak at some spots and strong at others and still be a net positive. As pointed out by others earlier today, the Brewers currently lead MLB in Defensive Runs Saved with 14 which is 5 better than the next best major league team.
