  1. Narvaez, Nottingham, Pina, Gyorko, Hiura, Arcia, Urias, Yelich, Cain, Garcia, Gamel, Taylor is twelve position players. Burnes, Woodruff, Houser, Lindblom, Lauer, Suter, Yardley, Peralta, Topa, Rasmussen, Williams, Hader is twelve pitchers. I'd guess around 20 of those guys will be on the 2021 opening day roster. Would you consider 6 new players major roster turnover, or do you expect there to be more? That’s a really good point, and doesn’t even include Vogelbach on the list. I think they’re in greater need of a couple of key additions than a roster overhaul.
  2. I’m not that up in arms over Healy batting 4th as the DH because he probably has as much power as any other right handed option. In a game like this you have to hope a couple of batters get into one. It feels like one of those games where whoever hits more home runs will win it. I assume if Kershaw leaves the game that Vogelbach may slide into the 4th spot.
  3. Padres fans seem to think they “unlocked” something in Davies this year, but the truth is his stretch this year was nearly identical to a stretch he had last year except for a somewhat higher strikeout rate. The more familiarity hitters develop facing him in the NL West may prove to be the same solid, but unspectacular results he’s had for a while.
  4. Now on their 6th pitcher of the game and still in the 4th inning.
  5. White Sox are already on their 5th pitcher in the first 4 innings of this elimination game versus the A’s. Their draft pick from this year, Garrett Crochet left the game with elbow discomfort.
  6. The Reds are 3 outs away from getting bounced from the Postseason without scoring a run, and if this score holds being outscored in total just 2-0 over 22 innings. Edit: Well the Braves just scored two more runs in the bottom of the 8th.
  7. From Mike Vassallo: Avisail Garcia went 3-for-4 last night in Game 1 of the NLWCS. García has had 6 career plate appearances against tonight’s starter Clayton Kershaw, going 4-for-4 with a double and 2 walks. Christian Yelich is a career .409 hitter (9-for-22, 4bb) with 2 HR against Clayton Kershaw. He is hitless (0-for-4, 1bb) against Kershaw in the postseason.
  8. Below are a couple of soon to be Free Agents I'd be interested in if the price is right. Jurickson Profar: The 27 year old former #1 prospect in baseball is a switch hitter that can play both the infield and outfield. I think he'd be able to cover a utility role nicely, and offer them a switch hitter which is direction I think they'll trend this offseason. His underlying numbers suggest that last year with the A's was a fluke, and what we are seeing this year is closer to the hitter we can expect him to be going forward. I think he'll unlock another level of power in his swing over the next couple of years, and Miller Park (err..AmFam Field) would be a good place for him to see that power actualize. Marcus Stroman: I know this isn't their M.O., but adding Stroman to an already solid rotation would be a big boost. I do acknowledge there is a lot of risk involved in going after the top tier of pitchers in free agency, so both the price and their confidence in him maintaining his previous results would be need to be good. I don't have a good sense for how much money or number of years Stroman will command as a free agent.
  9. Here is an update on Ryan Braun’s status: Ryan Braun has a strain near the middle of his back, Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. He initially hurt himself in the regular-season finale and aggravated it today. “I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. You can call it day-to-day. I think everybody is at this point.” For his career versus Clayton Kershaw, Braun is 11-for-41 with 2 doubles and a home run. ———————————————————
  10. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Dodgers) vs Pitching Stats Clayton Kershaw: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  11. Cleveland giving up 22 runs in two games with a vaunted pitching staff including ace Shane Bieber getting shelled in game 1 oddly makes me feel better about the Brewers holding their own against the best offense in baseball tonight.
  12. Well he pitched last Friday against the Cardinals, so I doubt it.
  13. If Jace Peterson draws a walk to get Yelich to the plate I will take back every negative thing I’ve said about him. Edit: I officially take it all back, Jace.
  14. Well it’s not over yet. They came back from a 4-run 9th inning deficit on Pittsburgh this year, and if you can beat the Pirates late what’s to say you can’t do the same to the Dodgers?
  15. I’ve wanted Seager to be a Brewer for years. He’ll be a free agent in another year, and if they were ever going to save up for a giant free agent splash I really hope it’s Corey Seager.
  16. I don’t feel good about Freddy, hope I’m wrong, but he hasn’t been good lately. I think he’ll be okay this time around, he got thrown into the game Sunday very abruptly. Of course I could be wrong. Edit: I was wrong.
  17. The identification and development of bullpen talent has been the most encouraging thing I’ve taken from 2020 (along with the continued ascension of Burnes and Woodruff).
