  1. Giants have the bases loaded and nobody out in the 8th inning. Still down 3-0 for the moment. Edit: Now bases loaded with one out following a strikeout. Edit #2: Now two outs, Giants scored one run when Brandon Belt just barely beat out a would be double play that would’ve ended the inning. It’s 3-1 with a pitching change and runners at the corners. Edit #3: Wilmer Flores RBI single makes it 3-2 with two runners still on and two outs.
  2. If the Brewers and Giants both finish 30-30 and the Cardinals are at 29-29 wouldn’t the Cardinals still have to go to Detroit to win at least one game in order to make the playoffs over the Giants and win two games in order to finish ahead of the Brewers for WC1 (in which case the Brewers would be WC2)?
  3. The Cardinals would have the tiebreaker over the Giants (intradivision record) if they both finish with 29 wins. The Cardinals will only play the doubleheader versus the Tigers if it decides who MAKES the playoffs. If only seeding within the playoff field could be affected than they will base seeding off of winning percentage and the Cardinals won’t have to travel to Detroit.
  4. Yes, it would be a Cardinals-Tigers doubleheader, I just made a typo. Coming into tonight the Brewers could have won both game and been eliminated tomorrow if both the Phillies and Giants also won their last two games. Now that the Phillies have lost the Brewers cannot be eliminated tomorrow if they win. If the Giants lose tonight than the Brewers would clinch the playoffs with a win tomorrow regardless of what other teams do. The Phillies have the tiebreaker over the Brewers and the Giants came into tonight with a 1 game lead in the standings (but the Brewers hold the tie breaker over the Giants if they finish with the same record).
  5. In addition to the Giants losing both, the Phillies would also have to lose tomorrow for the Brewers to lose and get in.
  6. They still need a Giant loss, do they not? Yes, still need one Giants loss between either tonight or tomorrow. If the Giants win both the Brewers would have to wait to see how the Cardinals-Tigers doubleheader goes. This is all assuming the Brewers win tomorrow.
  7. No, the Brewers would have a better overall intradivison record than the Giants if they both finish 30-30. The thing that might be messing you up is they both came into tonight with the same intradivision record, but for both to finish 30-30 it means the Brewers finished 2-0 and the Giants finished 1-1, thus the Brewers would move ahead of the Giants in the overall intradivision record.
  8. Hader probably unavailable tomorrow, but the bright side is Devin Williams likely available for two. Thank you, Brandon Woodruff!
  9. What makes me nervous about Hader here is that he often doesn’t seem great in the second game when he pitches back-to-back days.
  10. If they beat the Brewers in either of these games they get in. If the Brewers win both of these games then the Cardinals would have to sweep the Tigers in the double header in order to move back ahead of the Brewers. It would depend on what the Giants and Phillies do in terms of whether they get in if they split with Detroit.
  11. Unfortunately it appears the Phillies are about to put up a big inning in the 7th. Cut the lead to 4-3 and still have no outs and two on.
  12. Well through the first two innings they were talking like the Cardinals had already won the game and clinched a playoff spot.
  13. It’s so weird watching Brett Phillips starting for the team with the best record in the American League. There are going to be a lot of former Brewers in this year’s playoffs, hopefully this Brewers team can join them.
  14. Every MLB game starts at 2:00pm CT tomorrow, so it would make for some serious scoreboard watching.
