  1. Keith Law released his updated Mock Draft today for The Athletic: https://theathletic.com/3317893/2022/05/19/mlb-mock-draft-jacob-berry/ He had Adam Mazur, RHP, Iowa mocked to the Brewers at #27, but in his comments he wrote, "I’ve heard the Brewers with Oklahoma State’s Justin Campbell as well, although he seems like a reach for the first."
  2. One low key benefit of today’s win is the Brewers went 3-3 in the season series against the Braves. So in the unlikely case the teams finished the season with identical records fighting for playoff positioning at least the tiebreaker goes beyond the head-to-head category.
  3. I would be fine with Hiura DH-ing against RHP going forward. Go with McCutchen against LHP and Hiura against RHP. Woah Solvvd.
  4. Yes, I think ending games earlier in extra innings was the main goal. Front offices didn't like having their bullpens torched in random 14+ inning games.
  5. If that was the primary goal the best way to accomplish it would be to start with the bases loaded.
  6. The vaunted Brewers bullpen is now turning to... Trevor Kelley. ?
  7. Braves going younger here, Jesse Chavez turns just 39 in August.
  8. With how easy he made that look maybe take 3rd as well!
  9. Oh man, I thought Urias was for sure going to score on that hit. I guess better to be safe than sorry, though.
  10. Fun Fact: Darren O'Day will turn 40 at the end of this season.
  11. Well I guess the good news is the Brewers get to start the inning with a runner on 2B as well, and the Braves have used their best relievers already.
  12. Yeah, I can't imagine they wouldn't use Hader in this situation if he was healthy.
  13. Dansby Swanson putting on a defensive clinic today... sigh.
  14. Brewers still haven't played an extra inning game yet this year, why start now. Finish it here.
  15. Alright, let's steal this one now! One more pitch and Jansen will have thrown more pitches in this outing as he has in any outing since opening day.
  16. Well a base hit should tie things up now. Let's go!
  17. RE: Hiura, the one thing that's been consistent between his Triple-A stats and MLB stats this year is his significant reverse splits. I know these sample sizes are small, but at this point he has a track record from throughout his time in professional baseball having reverse splits. Hiura's MLB splits in 2022 (coming into today) vs. RHP (24 plate appearances): .250 BA / .375 OBP / .550 SLG / .925 OPS vs. LHP (18 plate appearances): .177 BA / .222 OBP / .177 SLG / .399 OPS Hiura's Triple-A splits in 2022 vs. RHP (39 plate appearances): .355 BA / .487 OBP / .839 SLG / 1.326 OPS vs. LHP (26 plate appearances): .200 BA / .231 OBP / .200 SLG / .431 OPS I am a little perplexed that the Brewers seem to refuse to believe that reverse splits could actually be a thing. They have another prospect in the minors, Felix Valerio. that also hits better versus same sided pitching. At some point I think you have to acknowledge that maybe those type of players deserve a chance to prove whether or not their early splits are real. I wouldn't be surprised if Hiura ends up with a team that allows him to hit against right handed pitching and he does just fine. He's always going to carry a high strike out rate, but he seems to see the ball much better against righties.
  18. Keston Hiura back in Milwaukee and the starting lineup today per McCalvy.
  19. Today’s game is on MLB Network (for those outside of the regional blackout zone) in addition to being on Bally Sports Wisconsin. Brewers struggled with a seemingly mediocre southpaw starter yesterday, but today they’ll get a chance to see what they can do against one of the best left handed starting pitchers in the league. The Brewers offense has scored just six total runs in Corbin Burnes last four starts. Today would be a good day to give him some run support.
