  1. .482 At some point you just have to pull the plug on him don't you? His slugging % is just .197. He has two extra base hits (both doubles) through 88 plate appearances.
  2. Except for possibly hitting Gyorko in place of Sogard and putting Arcia in the 9th spot (I like him hitting there), I think this is one of the better lineups of the season.
  3. He does only have this season left on his contract. Hopefully this is just the first domino to fall and they will still be interested in Hader as a long term solution at the back of their bullpen. Yes, they could certainly still be interested. It seemed likely they were going to add at least one bullpen piece this deadline and now they’ve met that bar. By no means am I suggesting Hader doesn’t remain a possibility for them, they certainly appear to have the players to make a deal work.
  4. A little cold water on the Padres idea as they’ve acquired Royals closer Trevor Rosenthal, per Ken Rosenthal.
  5. I wish I felt the Twins were more desperate to make a move like acquiring Hader, but Derek Falvey is cut from the same cloth as David Stearns. I don’t think we’ll see them overpay for Hader. If the Twins were willing to overpay, they have the players that would excite me the most. The two teams I think could be desperate enough to overpay for Hader are the White Sox and Padres. Both are tasting success for the first time in awhile, and both have GMs that aren’t shy about giving up high end talent to get talent in return. It’s been mentioned by others, but I think if the Brewers and White Sox do make a deal it seems like the Brewers would ask for a package that would be headlined by Andrew Vaughn and Michael Kopech. I think packaging them both (and maybe add a lottery ticket or two) is the exact type of price the Brewers are likely floating on Hader inquires. Another thing to keep in mind, David Stearns and Rick Hahn have done a decent amount of business together pulling off in-season trades. The Brewers have acquired the following players from the White Sox in-season over the past three years: Xavier Cedeno, Joakim Soria, Tyler Saladino, Anthony Swarzak In addition, the Brewers were reportedly deep in talks to acquire Jose Quintana before the Cubs upped their offer three years ago. Edit: I should add that I don’t think the Brewers are actually going to trade Hader, but do think the White Sox are one of the teams that could at least put forth an intriguing offer.
  6. Per Mike Vassallo: Luis Urías last night became the ninth different player to start in the leadoff spot for the Brewers this season. No other team has used more than five. Sogard - 12 García - 7 Braun - 4 Cain - 2 Healy - 2 Gamel - 1 Holt - 1 Narváez - 1 Urías - 1 #ThisIsMyCrew
  7. Brett Anderson: Batter (Pirates) vs Pitching Stats JT Brubaker: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  8. In the week since Grisham’s 4 hit, 3 home run game he has gone 2-for-22 (both singles) with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk. His season OPS is now at .799. Luis Urias has a .748 OPS. Grisham has had some great moments this season and hit some impressive home runs, but he has also struggled offensively for stretches as well.
  9. [sarcasm]I wonder how well we could restock the farm system if we just unloaded our entire bullpen.[/sarcasm]
  10. Apparently the answer is they don’t. Here is Tommy La Stella 10 minutes ago after learning he’d been traded to the A’s...
  11. The A’s just traded for Tommy La Stella per Ken Rosenthal. That’s a sneaky nice pickup for them.
  12. Can you imagine how jacked Jacob Nottingham would be if he played in the “steroids era”?
  13. Luis Urias owns southpaws. I’m really excited for his future with the ball club.
  14. Believe me, I'm aware, I drafted that bum in one of my fantasy leagues and he has been 100% non existent. I had to pick up Jesus Aguilar off the ww to replace him, and he has been pretty damn good! So did I, but I also got Winker off waivers so I’ll call it a push.
  15. Luis Urias is leading off tonight against a LHP, which makes me very happy.
  16. Under 72 hours left until the trade deadline. I don’t expect much in terms of moves that will have significant short term impact, but I am really hoping we see a player or two acquired with future control that begin to give us an idea of what the 2021 roster construction might be.
  17. You’re right, but now that it’s looking more likely than not that they’ll at least get through the majority of the scheduled games I would be pretty surprised if they didn’t go by this year’s record. The option giving the Commissioner the ability to manipulate the draft order was seemingly in place as a fallback measure if they weren’t able to complete a season. My guess is if all teams had only completed around 20 games they would have added last year’s records and this year’s records.
  18. While this is likely said in jest, halfway through the season the Brewers would currently receive a top ten draft pick (either 9th or 10th depending on tiebreaker with Reds). In this strange 60 game season finishing with an opportunity for a good draft pick wouldn’t be the worst consolation for missing the playoffs.
  19. To your point about Lindblom and small sample sizes for pitchers, I think people forget how much Brandon Woodruff appeared to struggle to begin last year. Much of his trouble was inflated by a high-BAbip which is exactly the case for Lindblom. This is almost uncanny, but below are Brandon Woodruff's first 5 starts from last year as compared to Josh Lindblom's first 25 IP this year. Brandon Woodruff (2019 first 5 starts): [pre]IP H ER BB SO HR HBP ERA BA OBP SLG OPS BAbip 26.1 30 17 9 32 4 2 5.81 0.283 0.350 0.453 0.803 0.371[/pre] Josh Lindblom (2020 first 6 starts): [pre]IP H ER BB SO HR HBP ERA BA OBP SLG OPS BAbip 25.2 26 18 12 36 5 2 6.31 0.260 0.351 0.450 0.801 0.356[/pre] Look, I certainly don't think Josh Lindblom is Brandon Woodruff by any means, but I also don't think he's a > 6.00 ERA guy either. I think over a full 162 game season he could probably be a competent #5 starter. I don't think he's ever going to be great, but I think his high BAbip is somewhat skewing his results so far.
  20. Corbin Burnes: Batter (Pirates) vs Pitching Stats Derek Holland: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  21. I agree, I would be much more interested in Kirilloff than Royce Lewis.
  22. I think Sogard was a big beneficiary of the juiced ball. He has an average exit velo around 83-mph this year, no way does he hit anywhere near double digit HR with the regular ball. Before last year he had never hit more than 3 home runs in a season.
