  1. Well now I’m mad that the caught stealing in the 2nd inning cost them getting to 20 runs today.
  2. If the only Brewers innings you watched this season were the first half of today’s game you would think they’re a totally competent baseball squad!
  3. Urias getting thrown out at third with nobody out is obviously something you can’t afford to risk, but it was also a great play by the third basemen using his knee to block the bag otherwise Urias would’ve been safe.
  4. For as much as the Brewers are all in on the platoon lineups this year, playing the Indians and Tigers has made me wonder the following... Maybe they should attempt to either acquire or develop decent switch hitters going forward? The Indians were starting 5 switch hitters against the Brewers last weekend and the Tigers have 3 in their lineup. Obviously they had Grandal last year and Smoak this year, but I can't remember a time the Brewers had 3+ switch hitters in their lineup?
  5. Today’s game is exclusively on YouTube, below is the link as well as the embedded video window: .

  7. If the Brewers do end up with a top ten pick, Louisville third baseman (and Oak Creek, WI native) Alex Binelas would be an intriguing target.
  8. Starting the 2021 MLB Draft discussion thread. With 20 games remaining in the Brewers season they currently sit in the #10 draft spot if the season ended today. Unlike past MLB Drafts, the 2021 version will be held in Atlanta during the MLB All Star Break (July 11-13, 2021). Below are some links and lists of the top draft prospects for 2021. 9. Arcia’s overall numbers don’t look like anything special, but he’s had much better at bats overall this year than he’s had the past two seasons. He’s trending in the right direction at least.
  10. Yes, his launch angle has been poor this year, but luckily that’s something that can be improved upon. The contact ability and bat speed are elements that are more difficult to develop.
  11. I don’t think that’s something we can accurately predict at this point, but the front office appears to be betting on the fact he will. One encouraging sign is coming into tonight he was averaging over 89-mph on his exit velocity which is above average. I would not be surprised at all if he turned into a doubles hitter that also produces 20-25 HRs a year in his peak seasons. I agree that he’s obviously going to be more valuable in the middle infield than as a third baseman.
  12. A loss tonight puts the Brewers currently in position for a top ten draft. So I guess that’s one way to improve the farm.
  13. Stearns mentioned last week when he joined the broadcast that they believe Urias is going to develop more power in his game. I think whether or not that happens will have a big impact on how valuable of an offensive player he becomes. There are countless examples of guys that developed more power/slugging after their age-23 season. I’m hopeful we will see something similar for Urias, especially once he’s further removed from the hamate bone injury.
  14. I think that outcome is highly unlikely barring additional serious injuries. He might not be an annual top-5 MVP candidate for the next five years, but I just don’t see it becoming a move that’s widely criticized within 5 years either.
  15. Having the leadoff runner on base in 4 of their first 5 innings tonight against a pitcher that hasn’t exactly looked very good and having nothing to show for it has been quite a failure.
  16. Will give Gamel credit, a leadoff double is the type of production this team needs at the top of the order. Unfortunate they squandered it.

  22. By comparison during that same period (2017-2019), the Cubs also had 271 regular season wins with a core that was supposed to be a potential dynasty coming off of their 2016 WS title.

  24. It’s his first time starting a MLB game hitting in the 5th spot, he has started games in the 2nd and 6th spots in the order 14 times each.
