  1. The Phillies-Blue Jays series scheduled for this weekend has now been postponed per the Blue Jays' manager.
  2. Brandon Woodruff mentions his improved changeup as the big difference making pitch for him right now. When Adam McCalvy asks him if he credits anyone for the improvement he cites watching Scherzer’s changeup, Strasburg’s changeup, and... Devin Williams’ changeup (which he says is “unbelievable”).
  3. Well if you told me Yelich was going to start the season 1-for-27, I think a 3-3 road trip would sound pretty good to me. Could be tough sledding for Yeli to bounce back against Flaherty on Friday. The Brewers will now play 30 of their next 48 games at Miller Park.
  4. Per Ben Badler of Baseball America: The Brewers are adding 17-year-old CF Hedbert Perez to their 60-man player pool. Perez ranked as our No. 8 overall international signing of 2019. One of my favorite players in the class.
  5. Official lineups now included in the opening post. The Brewers have 7 hitters in today’s lineup that will be batting lefty against Musgrove.
  6. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Pirates) vs Pitching Stats Joe Musgrove: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  7. I still can’t believe how truly awful the Smoak throw to 2B was in the 7th. Suter certainly struggled, but as I attempt to get upset over tonight’s result I remember how the Pirates also gift wrapped the top half of the 7th inning with four straight walks to start.
  8. I know he’s 1-for-23 to start the season, but I would still like to see Yelich bat this inning.
  9. Well luckily the Pirates are still the other half of the equation tonight.
  10. This game has been a combination of mistakes and missed opportunities for both teams. Quite the rollercoaster the start of the season has been so far.
  11. In his short career thus far, Hiura has been a Pirate killer. He has 7 home runs against the Pirates in less than 70 at bats.
  12. Same exact lineup as last night. If you would have told me back in November that we would be five games into the 2020 season and Justin Smoak had already hit in the cleanup spot a couple of times while Logan Morrison and Jedd Gyorko started in the 5th spot in the lineup over the past three games I would have offered to fight you. That being said, if you could predict the future back in November, and these were the only details you chose to share about 2020 I would offer to fight you right now.

  15. Is this among MLB starters or all pitchers? Among all pitchers in MLB during the 2019 season.
  16. Interesting move in Atlanta. He had been good for the Braves the past couple of years, and was 8th in the NL Cy Young voting in 2018. This Talking Chop article has some eyebrow raising details regarding Folty recently getting into a spat recently with some fans and writers... Breaking: Braves designate Mike Foltynewicz for assignment The Atlanta Braves have designated right handed pitcher Mike Foltynewicz for assignment following Monday night’s start in Tampa Bay, according to manager Brian Snitker. The move comes as a real surprise. Foltynewicz, 28, was hit hard in his season debut against the Rays, allowing six runs on four hits and four walks. His velocity was down once again with his fastball hovering around 90, nearly 5mph slower than his average last year. His secondary pitches lacked any kind of bite as well suggesting he may not be fully healthy. Still, considering the current landscape of Major League Baseball and the status of the Braves’ rotation, to designate Foltynewicz for assignment in a year like this after one start suggests there may be something more to the decision than his on-field performance. After making a warm up start in an exhibition against the Marlins last week, Foltynewicz blamed the radar gun for his decrease in velocity and publicly engaged with a handful of fans and team writers to combat their critiques. Alex Anthopoulos will now seek a trade partner for Foltynewicz. Assuming he is traded, he has one year of team control remaining.
  17. The bad news is if the season ends tomorrow the Brewers just dropped 10 spots in the draft!
