  1. His arm would no doubt be below average for even a left fielder, but I wouldn’t say he couldn’t do it. As MrTPlush mentioned it would come down to other skills beyond arm strength. His arm would probably play pretty similar to Khris Davis’, which again is certainly well below average.
  2. I agree that Hiura likely ends up a DH sooner than later, but left field would be another position they could try to get him experience at in the offseason/spring training before punting.
  3. Completely agree. The tough thing is there really aren’t any above average corner infield options on the upcoming free agent market (except for maybe 36-year old Justin Turner), and they obviously don’t have any offensively minded corner infielders in the high minors. The Brewers also aren’t in a position to buy their way out of the hole at those positions with guys like Rendon last year or Rizzo/Bryant in two years. Seems like they may be stuck for the foreseeable future with the approach of hoping to find guys that can have brief career breakout stretches such as Aguilar and Shaw.
  4. Very early returns would suggest that Castellanos may very well be opting out of the remaining 3 years and $48 million on his contract after this season with the Reds. I wouldn’t be shocked if he found his way back to the Cubs, unfortunately. Again, I know it’s way too early to know for sure, but at just 28 years old I think he could be a candidate to get a longer and more lucrative contract if he chooses to test the FA waters once again. Especially with Mookie Betts off the market, he would seemingly be the best combination of relatively young and productive among corner outfielders. George Springer would also be on the market, but is 2.5 years older and has a more recent injury history. Joc Pederson will also be on the FA market, but is more of a platoon OF option. Michael Brantley is the other big name corner OF, but will be entering his age-34 season next year and may be better suited as a DH in coming years.
  5. For his career versus Anthony DeSclafani, Christian Yelich is 8-for-18 with 3 doubles and 2 home runs. Today would be a good day for a Yelich breakout game offensively.

  7. That Yelich home run was my West Bend Silver Lining for sticking with this one until the end.
  8. Agreed, and he’s only 28 years old. He’s always been a good hitter, but I think he very well could go down the J.D. Martinez path of being a guy that absolutely mashes in his late 20’s and early 30’s.
  9. It always amazes me how slow Arcia is getting down the line to 1B. In my mind as the camera pans over I always expect him to be 2-3 strides closer to the bag than he ever actually is.
  10. He looked outstanding in the relief appearance against the Cubs. Granted it was only 2.2 IP, but he was locating on the outer edge of the plate against RHH and getting LHH to chase his breaking pitches. The talent is there, but just like it has for other young starters it will likely take awhile for him to become more consistent. I’d also cut him a little slack since he hadn’t pitched in a game for 11 days.
  11. The Cardinals-Cubs series was supposed to commence tonight, but... Per Mark Saxon: Per sources, tonight's Cardinals game has been postponed due to further positive Covid test result(s). More details as they become available.
  12. Lauer and Bauer faced off last August as well, and Lauer was on the winning end of a 3-2 final.
  13. Plan to get home, take a shower, and grab my favorite sour. Can’t wait!
  14. Eric Lauer: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Trevor Bauer: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  15. Yes, the 6th seed because they are in 2nd place in the NL Central. All second place teams in the divisions are guaranteed playoff spots #4-6.
  16. The pitching has been excellent, and I don’t even think the total runs against do justice for how good some of the stuff has appeared so far. Excited for Lauer v. Bauer tomorrow night.
  17. The Brewers lose a home game because of the Cardinals COVID debacle. The September 14th and 16th games at Miller Park will now be doubleheaders, but so will the September 25th date at Busch Stadium. The Brewers will be the “home team” in the first game of that doubleheader despite it being in St. Louis.
  18. They currently have 15 pitchers, so I am hoping Grimm is the next to go.
  19. With another walk Yelich’s season wRC+ is now up to 67. Believe it or not, as bad as Yelich has been so far that is a higher wRC+ on the season than Orlando Arcia has had 3 of the last 4 seasons (he’s been at 65, 86, 54, 61 the past four years).
  20. Yelich up again this inning. So far tonight his HR and 3 walks have raised his season wRC+ from 3 to 60.
  21. Wow, Mathias catches it up against the wall. Gamel’s screw up almost made this a tie game.
  22. Huge throwing mistake on Gamel’s part not to complete that double play. Seemed like he tried to do it with such ease that his throw sailed off target.
  23. Brewers-White Sox the last game still playing across MLB tonight and we’re only in the 7th inning.
