  1. In 2019 the Brewers led MLB in runners left in scoring position for the season. They have also been in the bottom 10 in the league in runners stranded in scoring position every year since 2016. You could argue maybe they‘ve had more RISP than a lot of other teams, but I am not certain about that part.
  2. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The Brewers started the inning with a pair of runners in scoring position and nobody out...
  3. I’m more confident in Gamel right now than just about any hitter in the Brewers lineup. He has a sweet looking swing right now.
  4. Any time I watch Abreu play I think of the fact the Brewers reportedly offered him $60 million back in 2014 when he originally signed out of Cuba with the White Sox.
  5. A lot has been made about how strikeout proof Madrigal is going to be. I guess Burnes didn’t get the memo.
  6. Looks like this one is going to be a battle of the bullpens.
  7. I was wondering as well in terms of not all teams playing 60 games. I think players get paid for each service day, not actual games played. I believe player prorated salaries are spread out over the 66 scheduled services days this year, but I’m not certain. If that is the case they’d be getting paid for each day of the season that they’re on the roster even if games are not all played.
  8. Look forward to seeing Gamel get a chance against LHP this series. He has reverse splits and is a career .765 OPS hitter against left handed pitching.
  9. That pop up to center field makes me a little nervous for what’s to come with Garcia in CF.
  10. I am interested to see if they insert a cutoff for minimum number of games a team needs to play in order to make the playoffs. If the Marlins never played another game during the regular season they would be a playoff team due to their current .667 winning percentage. The Orioles are 5-3, if they have to miss a chunk of the season it isn't inconceivable they could sneak into the 16-team field (okay, it's the Orioles and it probably is actually inconceivable). I can't wait until the 26-22 Cardinals win the NL Central over the 32-28 Brewers and Cubs because of their better winning percentage.
  11. The part I don't understand is even if they limped through a season, I have no idea how the 16-team playoff field would work if you continued to have teams with cases. Delaying playoff series' for a week or more at a time, and then possibly having teams play without a third of their playoff roster seems impractical.
  12. I didn't realize this but Garcia played 12 (started 10) games in CF last year for the Inidans I think you meant Rays, but yeah he logged nearly 100 innings in center last year. That was the first time he had been in CF since some limited action there in both 2012 and 2013.
  13. Congrats to anyone that had Avisail Garcia penciled into center field or Ryon Healy batting lead-off tonight.
  14. Sounds like they will be staying in Milwaukee for the time-being. If anyone had upcoming reservations at the Pfister, you might want to rethink them. I'll be sort of curious to see how they eventually transport the positive players and staff. The Marlins planned bus trip from Philly to Miami sounded awful (and I still can't imagine who would be willing to drive these buses).
  15. Jon Heyman clarified the 13 positives: 7 Cardinals players have tested positive for Covid and 6 staff members. So 13 total personnel. Tigers series postponed as @markasaxon reported 1st Jeff Passan posted the press release:
  16. Cardinals have at least 6 players and 2 staff confirmed positive according to Cardinals beat reporter Mark Saxon. He said it could be as many as 13 positives according to a source. They will not be going to Detroit as scheduled...
  17. Brett Anderson: Batter (White Sox) vs Pitching Stats Carlos Rodón: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  18. The Brewers set their rotation for Monday through Wednesday versus the White Sox this week. Monday: Brett Anderson Tuesday: Brandon Woodruff Wednesday: Adrian Houser I thought they might have Anderson throw a bullpen this weekend and then restart the rotation with Woodruff going tomorrow (he last pitched on Wednesday). Unrelated, the Brewers will face old friend Gio Gonzalez in the series finale on Thursday.
  19. Greinke’s pickup basketball ribs injury. Narveson slicing his hand trying to lace his glove with scissors. K-Rod stepping on a cactus. The Brewers have an impressive list of strange injuries.
  20. With Braun hitting the IL the Brewers are now without two of their biggest right handed bats. Tough timing considering they are going up against LHP Carlos Rodon tomorrow.
  21. Forgot to add this Tweet from Tom Haudricourt: In the third year of his five-year, $80 million deal, #Brewers Lorenzo Cain had $16 million salary this year, which was pro-rated to $5.92 million in 60-game season. That's what he walked away from, so you have to respect his decision to opt out. Has wife and three young sons. I think the salary is spread over service days, not games played. If so, I think he’d get paid for 8/66th’s of the season which would be about $718K. Basically his 5 year, $80 million deal is now 4.12 years and $64.7 million in reality (assuming we’re back to a regularly scheduled season next year).
  22. So I want Gamel to get a shot in CF, but figured I would take a look at reasonable CF options (players that will be free agents following the season). The Red Sox jump out as having two potential trade candidates that can cover CF and are free agents after 2020: Jackie Bradley, Jr. Kevin Pillar JBJ hits from the left side, while Pillar is a righty batter. Both have had good starts to 2020 even though it has obviously only been 30 ABs. I don’t think the Red Sox would consider either of them untouchable, and if they continue on the trajectory of their 3-7 start they may be looking to unload them before the Aug. 31 trade deadline. Thoughts on either of them being a cheap trade candidate to temporarily help replace Cain?
  23. Since the forum was down yesterday, I‘ll start this thread. I have complete respect for the decision, and I’m sure it wasn’t an easy one. Look forward to seeing Gamel getting a shot to be an everyday player. Assume either Broxton gets added to the mix at some point, or they experiment with someone else as the backup in CF (Brock Holt has 75 innings of experience at CF in the majors).
  24. The Phillies had to stop playing games for an entire week because they played the Marlins, and it appears none of their team personnel contracted COVID. I have no idea why the Cardinals were expressing confidence they were going travel to Detroit on Monday, and play the Tigers starting Tuesday when they had multiple actual confirmed cases. Also, I know they aren’t going to make it this far anyway, but how would MLB be able to conduct an actual playoff bracket in this current reality? It would take months to complete with the likely team stoppages.
