  1. The biggest difference for Grandal as compared to last off-season is he is no longer tethered to the qualifying offer and loss of a draft pick. My belief is that he ends up at the high end of that range, or even slightly higher. I would guess he’ll receive an AAV between $17.5 to $19 million over either 3 or 4 years. I think only a team or two will be willing to add a 4th year. My prediction is he ends up with a 4 year deal for $72 million. I have a bad feeling the Reds are indeed his most likely landing spot.
  2. Well on a slightly related note the Brewers have picked up Manny Piña’s $1.85 million option (Link).
  3. Also from Jon Heyman...
  4. Following last night’s World Series game 7 Gerrit Cole wore a Boras Corporation hat... ...and was reportedly initially hesitant to speak to the media following the game telling a team employee, “I’m not an employee of the team.” Just before he started talking with the media Cole stated, “I’m doing this interview as a representative of myself I guess.” I know free agency doesn’t start for 5 more days, but I think Gerrit Cole signing season is officially open to highest bidder.
  5. Bryce Harper is three outs away from getting his wish granted... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FMgH7NmgUWE
  6. This is a very good post, IMHO. Outside of health concerns I would fairly confident that Seager would be among the upper echelon of shortstops in baseball, and would experience an offensive boost from playing half his games in Miller/AmFam Park.
  7. Agree 100%. Really hope the Nats can hold on so it doesn't matter. Rendon just got some Badger Mutual Insurance Runs, so that helps. I’m with both of you. Trea Turner’s right knee (and eventually foot) were both on the right side of the foul line as his left foot hit the bag. It was a bad judgment call in a big moment.
  8. It would be difficult for me to say no to a Seager for Hader trade as soon I started to daydream about this lineup versus RHPs for the next couple of years... Grisham (L) Yelich (L) Grandal (S) - Assuming [hoping] they resign him Hiura ® Seager (L) Thames (L) Cain ® Shaw (L)
  9. This is all just speculation on my part, but I think they may have done the circle and Milwaukee Brewers letters to pay homage to the very first primary logo in team history (Brewers primary logo from 1970 to 1977): I look at this as a similar thing to the fact they had the following primary logo for 18 seasons (Brewers primary logo from 2000-2017): Even though that was the primary logo for so long it was used far less often than the barley M logo on most of the team issued equipment and uniforms as well as fan apparel. The most annoying thing about it being the primary logo for so long was when there was some product that incorporated all of the MLB team logos that was the logo that typically represented the Brewers instead of the barley M logo (that obviously changed in 2018). Here is my guess (again just speculation), the Brewers only sent Topps and others companies that needed to build next years product lines one single logo to use. In the case of the Astros, Topps just used the logo asset that looked the most ascetically pleasing on their card. In the case of the Brewers they may not have been given the full set of logo designs (maybe it wasn't even complete at the time they needed it), so they used the only Brewers logo they were given access to at the time they drafted their card set. I would guess that leaked logo will end up being the "primary logo", but we will see much more widespread use of just the ball and glove part of logo.
  10. Well logo guru Chris Creamer certainly thinks the leak is legit... Article Link: Leaked: NEW Milwaukee Brewers Ball-in-Glove Logo for 2020 http://content.sportslogos.net/news/2019/10/milwaukee-brewers-new-logo-2020-leak-compare-with-old-590x466.jpg
  11. For those who are curious here is the article the image was captured from: 2020 TOPPS OPENING DAY BASEBALL FOCUSES ON FUN OVER FANCY
  12. The things that stand out to me as different from previous versions of the ball and glove logo are the following: 1) The ball is different. It has two curved lines depicting the baseball seams as opposed to the single “S” shaped line in the original ball and glove logo. The ball is also more centered to the middle of the “b” (or palm) where as the previous one was aligned closer to the top of the circle in the “b”. 2) The webbing of the glove between the “b” and “m” is now yellow instead of being no color (or the background blue color) two years ago and white this past season. The top of the “b” and “m” are also now connected with both blue and the yellow when in the past it was only connected by the yellow outline. Small differences, but it is definitely a different ball and glove logo from anything I’ve seen before.
  13. Brewers bullpen coach Steve Karsay apparently in the mix for the Yankees pitching coach position according to Mark Feinsand...
  14. Per this MLB.com article from Jon Paul Morosi the Dodgers are allegedly interested in trading for Francisco Lindor. The speculation is they would then use Corey Seager as a trade asset.
  15. Man would I love watching these two teams face off again in early February.
  16. High percentage pass, like that TD to Jones. We have a winner!
  17. So do you run it coming out of the 2-minute warning or try to salt the game away with a first down completion? I think you have to pass it, right?
  18. That ball being spotted short of the first down turned into a blessing. KC now with just one TO left.
  19. This has been a fun football game. Unfortunately, Matt Moore has done a nice job running the Chiefs offense tonight.
  20. I am not a huge fan of pinstripes, but if it meant returning to something similar to the below set as the road uniforms then I would gladly accept the home pinstripes...
  21. I was trying to think of how many other teams wear pinstripes as part of their primary home jersey? Off the top of my head... Yankees Cubs White Sox Rockies Phillies Mets Am I missing anyone?
  22. Either Reviewing the Brew is trolling the fan base, or they are on the leading edge of the rebrand scoop...
  23. One team that has four young catchers that all have major league experience is the Padres. Each of them has struggled to some extent with at least part of their game in the majors, but all of them have shown some offensive prowess in the minors... Francisco Mejia: Probably the Padres starter in 2020. He started the majority of the games from late June through the end of the season. Austin Hedges: Probably the Padres backup in 2020 due to his outstanding defense. Austin Allen: Entering age 26 season next year. Struggled in 71 MLB plate appearances last year, but has a career .844 OPS in the minors. Luis Torrens: Played for the Padres as a 21 year old in 2017 (due to being a Rule 5 acquisition), is now entering age 24 season likely without a spot on the major league roster. Had a good offensive season at Double-A last year. Of the list, Austin Allen and Luis Torrens are probably the only two that are actually attainable. Either would likely start the season in Triple-A, but could be capable of serving in a backup role to Piña by the end of 2020 if the Brewers go that route. Torrens would probably be my preferred target of the two, and wouldn’t likely cost much in trade capital. Like others, I am hoping the Brewers resign Grandal above all else. If not, I would like the Brewers to take a chance at finding a young catcher they believe can develop into a solid starter over the next couple of years. I personally don’t think the Brewers currently have a future major league regular at catcher in their upper minors.
  24. There’s still plenty of apparel and hats in the team store that aren’t going to be Nike products after the switch over.
