  1. As mentioned way back on page 18 of this thread, there are rumors of the A’s considering a move to Las Vegas. From Sal Castaneda earlier today... Maybe it’s just a bluff from MLB, but worth keeping an eye on going forward.
  2. Marcus Semien would look amazing in the Brewers lineup, but I would be a little concerned about overpaying in a trade following his breakout season that appears to be a statistical outlier offensively from his career norms. If they stick with Arcia as the starter and invest in finding a super utility type that can play 30-40 games at SS as well as cover 2B, 3B, and all three outfield positions, I would like to see them make a move to trade for the Marlins Jon Berti who is an under the radar player that performed very well given the opportunity to play with some regularity last season.
  3. Last week MLB Trade Rumors published an article predicting the potential Qualifying Offers for pitchers, Forecasting The Qualifying Offer Market: Pitchers. Here is what they concluded among the starting pitchers likeliness to receive a Qualifying Offer... Easy Calls: Gerrit Cole, RHP, Astros Madison Bumgarner, LHP, Giants Zack Wheeler, RHP, Mets Borderline: Jake Odorizzi, RHP, Twins Cole Hamels, LHP, Cubs Opt-Out Possibilities: Stephen Strasburg, RHP, Nationals Yu Darvish, RHP, Cubs
  4. Sorry, should have got this up earlier. We will do a “Game Thread” for each round of the playoffs, so please feel free to discuss the Divisional Series matchups and games in this thread.
  5. Back in July Hader was at 77.1 and Lux was at 62.5, but they have obviously been trending in opposite directions since then.
  6. There are a ton of young controllable players in MLB, but I assume you also mean “attainable” players? I think that shortens the list pretty quickly since the value teams place on young controllable talent is seemingly at an all-time high. The key appears to be striking a deal right before a player has a major breakout (i.e. Austin Meadows, Carson Kelly). Some guys that I think might be attainable for what the Brewers could possibly offer include the following: 1B/OF Dominic Smith (Mets) 1B/OF Josh Naylor (Padres) OF Clint Frazier (Yankees) SS Adalberto Mondesi (Royals) - This one would probably clean out the top of the Brewers farm system This is a good topic, I would be interested to see what other potential targets people have in mind that fit this category?
  7. I don’t think trading Hader has to coincide with a “rebuild”. If the Brewers could get an MLB ready impact position player for Hader then they should consider it. I think this ship has definitely sailed at this point, but as mentioned back in July, Gavin Lux could have been a good target for the Brewers. Lux’s stock has soared this season, so probably much less realistic now. It certainly isn’t easy to do, but it’s not impossible to make a trade that helps both teams in the near term.
  8. Here is the more complete starting pitching list from MLB.com including which players carry team or player options. I forgot that Stephen Strasburg can opt out of the remaining 4 years (and $100 million) on his contract.
  9. Looks like you are correct. That's strange, the site I was using as a reference had him as a FA. I have removed him from the list.
  10. We have a thread dedicated to Gerrit Cole who is obviously an unlikely option for the Brewers. Below are some other starting pitchers that are likely free agents (a couple have team or player options): Hyun-Jin Ryu Zack Wheeler Jake Odorizzi Madison Bumgarner Michael Pineda Kyle Gibson Adam Wainwright Cole Hamels Martín Pérez Tanner Roark Iván Nova Wade Miley Brett Anderson Jordan Lyles Dallas Keuchel Alex Wood
  11. I know this is about the Brewers, but I also think it’s crazy that 4/5 of the Minnesota Twins rotation from a 101-win team are Free Agents this off-season (Jake Odorizzi, Kyle Gibson, Martín Pérez, Michael Pineda). *Team option w/ Pérez for $7.5 mil which I don’t think they’ll pick up. As far as the Brewers I think Houser will stay in the rotation and Davies will be back. I’d like to see them move on from Chase Anderson. I’d be fine with re-signing Jordan Lyles, but wouldn’t expect him to maintain the same results we have seen over the past couple of months. It’s never easy (or a sure bet) to find starting pitching via free agency, but there are more intriguing options this year than most. Also wouldn’t rule out a trade for starting pitching, we know they were at least working on a deal for Mike Minor last off-season.
  12. With the season now over why not take a look at Scouting Baseball’s Way Too Early 2020 Mock Draft. For the Brewers... 20. Milwaukee Brewers: Dylan Crews, OF, Lake Mary HS (FL) The Brewers go for sliding talent or players with excellent hit tools. There is talk that Crews hit tool is the best in the entire draft class. He has a legit chance to end up the best hitter in this whole class. He could end up with plus hit, power, and eye. He is an underrated athlete who has played center in high school but typically gets profiled out to the corner. He is not the biggest kid which along with him being viewed as a corner outfield bat could push him down, boards. I think he is the top prep hitter in the class right now, and believe this would be a steal. We have seen players who are tweeners slide, and everyone end up regretting it later. Brewers Sleeper: Hugh Fisher, LHP, Vanderbilt If they did go with the arm, maybe they go with the SEC lefty with a high strikeout rate for the second year in a row.
  13. Please don’t! I second this. Jinx box waiting to happen. Since you asked, when Robles struck out the Brewers were at a 88.1% win probability, and when Trea Turner struck out the Brewers were at a 88.4% win probability.
  14. This x100. I trust Lyles more against these righties. Feels like they are setting up the “third time’s the charm” narrative for Zimmerman.
