  1. Don’t forget to mark your calendars now (at Miller Park on Oct. 25, 26, 27)...
  2. Truly amazing, and now just 1.5 GB of the Cardinals...

  4. Dbacks with a leadoff double in the bottom of the 16th. Now would be a good time to end it. Edit: Nope, they strand the runners and now head to the 17th.
  5. If the Cardinals win the division this would be the playoff scenario for the Brewers... The NL Wild Card game is going to be Tuesday, October 1st with a very likely start time of 7:00pm CT. The first NLDS game the Brewers would host is Sunday, October 6th at likely either 3:30pm or 7:00pm CT. The second NLDS game (if necessary) the Brewers would host is Monday, October 7th. There is a possibility of four playoff games that day, so it could start anywhere from 12:30pm to mid-afternoon (i.e. 3:30pm) to that evening (7:00pm or possibly even later). I am guessing a day game or late afternoon game would be the most likely scenario (i.e. 12:30pm or 3:30pm)

  7. They did in very classy fashion with actual glassware... Cheers to the start of a week long hangover for the Cardinals!
  8. Haha, just saw this. My thoughts exactly!
  9. I have never had much of an opinion on tattoos one way or another. Most of them are fine. The Pirates pitching staff on the other hand look like they had a competition for worst possible forearm tattoos.

  14. That might have been Hiura’s worst error yet. A tailor made double play ball results in no outs and two on.

  16. I think this is an extremely logical take. There is always the chance that this team could cool off and suffer a bullpen implosion at any time. I am super excited to ride this wave as far as it can take us, but the balance is tenuous. It is very reassuring knowing, though, that if the Brewers take care of business, they are in. No one saw that a month ago. Agreed, and to be clear I don’t think anyone was “predicting” a 9-2 finish, at least in my case I was just trying to give the worst possible scenario among things the Brewers don’t control, and what it would take for the Brewers to overcome it. The odds of the worst case scenario coming to fruition are obviously fairly low (but will now probably happen because I just typed that).
  17. Since the Cardinals and Cubs have 7 games remaining against each other I believe a 9-2 record would guarantee the Brewers a spot at least in terms of “making” the playoffs. Assuming I am doing the math correctly, if the Brewers finished 9-2 there would be no mathematical way for BOTH the Cubs and Cardinals to finish ahead or tied with the Brewers. Also, the teams in the Wild Card race behind the Brewers are all 4.0+ GB, so they obviously couldn’t catch the Brewers if they finished 9-2. Here is what I believe would be the worst case scenario for the Brewers wild card chances among things they don’t control... Cardinals finish the season 6-5 including going 2-5 against the Cubs and 1-0 against the Nationals. Cubs finish the season 9-2 including going 5-2 against the Cardinals. Nationals finish the season 11-1 including going 0-1 against the Cardinals. In that scenario the Cubs would finish with 91 wins and the Cardinals would finish with 90 wins. The Brewers would need to go 8-3 to force a Game 163 for the second Wild Card spot. If the Brewers went 9-2 they would be tied for the division lead, and the Game 163 would be to decide the division winner with both teams already guaranteed a playoff spot. The above scenarios wouldn’t change drastically if the Cubs went 4-3 against the Cardinals instead of 5-2, basically then it would just flip so the Cardinals had 91 wins and the Cubs finished with 90 wins.
