  1. The Brewers are 18-4 in games Brandon Woodruff pitched this season. The Nationals are 14-13 in games Max Scherzer pitched this season. This feels like the sort of game where the first team to 5 runs is going to win it. I’ll predict a 5-3 win for the Crew. LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!
  2. The official NL Wild Card In-Game Thread is now posted (Link).
  3. Scherzer is obviously an incredible pitcher who had another great season. One thing that gives me a bit of hope, however, is he has only started 8 games since the All Star Break and below are his combined results from those games...
  4. The current version of the Wild Card game was first implemented in 2012, below are some random facts regarding past participants. In the National League the visiting team has won 5 of the 7 WC games. In the American League the home team has won 4 of the 7 WC games. The most successful Wild Card teams since the inception of the current format are the 2014 Giants (won World Series) and 2014 Royals (lost World Series). The following Wild Card winners advanced into (but lost) the League Championship Series: 2012 Cardinals, 2015 Cubs, 2016 Blue Jays, 2017 Yankees Only 2 of the 14 Wild Card games have been decided by a deficit of less than 3 runs, and both of those were extra innings games (there have been 3 total games that went into extra innings).
  5. Not quite as eye popping, but the Nationals haven’t been great against Brandon Woodruff either:
  6. Here are the Brewers career batter versus hitter results against Max Scherzer:
  7. Use this thread over the next 36 hours to discuss the upcoming MLB playoffs including the Brewers scheduled Wild Card game versus the Nationals on Tuesday, October 1st at 7:08 p.m. CT (televised on TBS). A proper IGT will be posted early Tuesday morning for the NL Wild Card game.
  8. Four posters correctly predicted the Brewers 2019 record (89-73): Brew4U, Baldkin, tomwopat, and yours truly (Eye Black).
  9. LOL, that was amazing. What a depressing series.
  10. Faria has given up 11 earned runs in his last 6.2 innings pitched.
  11. It’s Coors Field, can someone on either side just hit a home run already?
  12. Nice inning for Jimmy Nelson, I wish the game was over now.
  13. My guess is this one isn’t going to take 5 more batters before it’s over.
  14. Gamel is held up on a hit he would have scored standing on and then gets thrown out at home after hesitating on a ball that only gets about 15ft away from the plate. That was a new level of botched base-running.
  15. Well it would be rooting against my season wins prediction (89) to prove correct, but I think I would like to see Jimmy Nelson finish the 2019 regular season with a save.
  16. Wow, thought Gamel was going to score fairly easily.
  17. I’m genuinely surprised they overturned the call.
  18. The Brewers will have the 20th overall selection in the first round of the 2020 draft. Here is the complete order with the NL Central teams in bold: 2020 First-Round Draft Order 1) Tigers (47-114) 2) Orioles (54-108) 3) Marlins (57-105) 4) Royals (59-103) 5) Blue Jays (67-95) 6) Mariners (68-94) 7) Pirates (69-93) 8) Padres (70-92) 9) Rockies (71-91) 10) Angels (72-90) 11) White Sox (72-89) 12) Reds (75-87) 13) Giants (77-85) 14) Rangers (78-84) 15) Phillies (81-81) 16) Cubs (84-78) 17) Red Sox (84-78) 18) D-backs (85-77) 19) Mets (86-76) 20) Brewers (89-73) 21) Cardinals (91-71) 22) Nationals (93-69) 23) Indians (93-69) 24) Rays (96-66) 25) Braves (97-65) 26) A's (97-65) 27) Twins (101-61) 28) Yankees (103-59) 29) Dodgers (106-56) 30) Astros (107-55)
  19. The line they are using is “the sides have agreed to part ways following the conclusion of Maddon’s contract.” My guess is the Cubs had no intention of offering him a contract renewal. Maddon said, “hopefully I get a chance to do this somewhere else.”
  20. Yep. Not going to get lightning to strike a 3rd time. We had our chances. Winning today likely means nothing. Let's make sure we win Tuesday. I’m somewhat strangely at peace with the Brewers not flying to St. Louis for a division championship game. I guess if they lose the Wild Card game I’ll probably feel differently, but right now I’m on board with just getting guys healthy and ready for the Wild Card game on Tuesday.
