  2. I’ve seen it happen plenty at other levels, but I am not sure I’ve ever seen a base come that far loose and knocked out of the way in a Major League Baseball game before?
  3. no doubt... Imagine having to watch that day in and day out. I agree with both of you, but I would trade three World Championships at the start of the next decade if it meant I likely had to put up with some boring baseball near the end of the decade.
  4. That was a really nice double play. And another Estabrook call overturned, so even better.
  5. Rock says, “where was Albers, I’m not sure why he didn’t get off the mound.”
  6. It is interesting that Stearns and Elias worked so closely together. When Stearns left the Astros organization to come to Milwaukee, Elias was promoted to Stearns’ vacated role. As you mentioned, it is difficult to know whether that means they’ll partner more frequently on future trades, or become more likely to steer clear of doing business together.

  8. Great catch. Yes, that was the article I regretfully trusted.
  9. The closest they came was in 1959 when Mathews hit 46 and Aaron hit 39, and 1960 when Aaron hit 40 and Mathews hit 39.
  10. I didn’t realize there hasn’t been an occurrence of teammates each hitting 40+ home runs since 1998. Below is the list of times teammates have each surpassed 40 home runs in the same season. 1927 YANKEES - Babe Ruth (60), Lou Gehrig (47) 1930 YANKEES - Babe Ruth (49), Lou Gehrig (41) 1931 YANKEES - Babe Ruth (46), Lou Gehrig (46) 1953 DODGERS - Duke Snider (42), Roy Campanella (41) 1954 DODGERS - Gil Hodges (42), Duke Snider (40) 1955 REDS - Ted Kluszewski (47), Wally Post (40) 1961 TIGERS - Rocky Colavito (45), Norm Cash (41) 1961 YANKEES - Roger Maris (61), Mickey Mantle (54) 1961 GIANTS - Orlando Cepeda (46), Willie Mays (40) 1969 RED SOX - Rico Petrocelli (40), Carl Yastrzemski (40) 1970 REDS - Johnny Bench (45), Tony Perez (40) 1973 BRAVES - Davey Johnson (43), Darrell Evans (41), Hank Aaron (40) 1996 ROCKIES - Andres Galarraga (47), Vinny Castilla (40), Ellis Burks (40) 1996 MARINERS - Ken Griffey Jr. (49), Jay Buhner (44) 1997 ROCKIES - Larry Walker (49), Andres Galarraga (41), Vinny Castilla (40) 1997 MARINERS - Ken Griffey Jr. (56), Jay Buhner (40) 1998 MARINERS - Ken Griffey Jr. (56), Alex Rodriguez (42)
  11. I believe this leaderboard is current/correct for combined home runs by a set of teammates... http://www.sportsonearth.com/assets/images/7/9/6/263326796/cuts/588x127/cut.png
  12. Tonight’s (hopefully final) Brewers strikeout leaderboard: Cain - 4 Shaw - 4 Braun - 3 Grandal - 3 Arcia - 3 Yelich - 2 Moustakas - 2 Gamel - 2 Thames - 1 It’s actually pretty remarkable, but it will make for a very memorable victory if they finish it off here.
  13. In what has been a completely feast or famine offensive night for the Brewers I would happily take the lead on a manufactured run from walks and sacrifices.
  14. I get frustrated with replay at times, but that instance was a good example of how important it is to have access to all of the angles. The original view looked like he was easily safe, but luckily the angle from the 3B side showed a very different story. EDIT: I am watching the Fox Sports Wisconsin feed, curious if the ESPN feed had the same angle that showed he clearly tagged his elbow?
