  1. Agree with the fact that if I was going to criticize Aguilar that last at bat versus Miller wouldn’t be it. He just missed a couple of pitches he was on.
  2. I don’t think it is crazy to think guys like Burnes and Peralta could be more valuable as relievers than starters. With so many pitchers throughout baseball struggling the third time through a lineup I think there is merit to the idea of pairing serviceable starters with high end relievers to dominate the middle-to-late innings. Having the flexibility to deploy elite bullpen arms based on the specific situations that play out during the game is such a huge advantage. They will be valuable for the Brewers future either way, but I don’t think the importance of what they could offer in relief should be dismissed.
  3. A bit of a schedule quirk that over half of the season series versus the Cardinals will be complete by April 24th this year (10 of 19 games).

  5. The Brewers have seven left handed batters in the lineup tonight (and six in a row). Dakota Hudson's career splits (albeit a small sample size): .406 OPS allowed vs. Right Handed Batters .759 OPS allowed vs. Left Handed Batters
  6. My favorite example from last season is on May 16th, 2018 the Dodgers lost their 6th straight game. All six of those consecutive loses came at the hands of the other two worst teams in the National League, the Reds and Marlins. The loss to the Marlins that day dropped the Dodgers overall record to 16-26. That record tied for the 2nd worst in the National League with the Marlins, and just barely ahead of the Reds. So after 42 games, more than a quarter of the season, the Dodgers had the second worst record in the National League. The 2018 Dodgers went to the World Series.
  7. Interesting thought. I wonder if that money is available or if it were spent elsewhere. Perhaps the Maryvale renovation. The public narrative has been that they spent their share of the BAMTech money on the Maryvale renovations. One of the investments that was credited with taking up some of the previous profits was the purchase of the Carolina Mudcats.
  8. From Adam McCalvy, some irony in the fact Goldschmidt’s hardest hit ball of the night was the lineout against Albers (although some of those foul balls against Freddy may have registered as his best exit velocity if they qualified). Goldschmidt now has 11 home runs in 25 career games at Miller Park.

  10. These type of useless throwaway comments aren’t going to be tolerated on this board. If you continue to make derisive comments or generalizations about other posters you are going to be banned, either temporarily or permanently. Another poster gave you helpful advice in the Kimbrel thread, and I strongly suggest you heed it going forward. Edit: What you need to recognize it has nothing to do with “feelings”. Your comments don’t promote a productive dialogue on these boards. The majority of long time posters here have learned to disagree by respectfully countering each other’s opinions rather than making nonsensical insults.
  11. This appears to be a new report from MassLive.com quoting Jon Morosi:
  12. Part of that equation is they have 6 extra base hits, and 5 of them are home runs. The only non-HR for extra bases was the Moustakas double. It’s important to remember they also have faced good pitching thus far. Last year Jack Flaherty held the Brewers to just 4 extra base hits in 91 plate appearances! Miles Mikolas held the Brewers to 10 extra base hits in 101 plate appearances. Through two games this year the Brewers have 5 extra base hits in 41 plate appearance versus those two pitchers.
  13. My overreaction hot take after two games: The good news is the Brewers are going to score a ton of runs this year. The bad news is they’re going to need to.
  14. I would probably leave Woodruff in the rotation, but I completely agree that Burnes and Peralta may be more valuable as bullpen arms if the Brewers could put together a serviceable rotation without them.
  15. Paul Goldschmidt’s never hit a home run off of Chase Anderson in 13 career at-bats. Edit: And still hasn’t on the IBB.
  16. Shaw’s hand was shaking pretty badly there, surprised he’s staying in.
  17. Over his last 8.1 innings pitched on a professional mound Andrew Miller has given up 13 hits, 6 walks, and 7 ER (and an OPS north of .900). A minuscule sample size obviously, but also far from invincible. Make that 14 hits and 8 earned runs.

  19. I hope we do...good for him. We could have predicted with the trade and playing time, he'd hit .275/.350 with 25-35 hr. He always reminded me of a Nelson Cruz, only with better performance at a younger age. I would bet on him to continue having an impressive offensive season given the everyday opportunities. If the NL goes to the DH in the next season or two it will be even easier to lament what could have been.
  20. Frustrating that the call was blown, but it shouldn’t have been nearly that close.
