  1. For those curious, pitch type percentages in 2018... Woodruff: Fastball - 64.1% Slider - 23.2% Change up - 11.3% Curveball - 1.3% Peralta: Fastball - 77.6% Curveball - 19.5% Change up - 2.8%
  2. I would like to see the Brewers add left-handed starting pitchers this off-season (or resign Miley). I think Peralta is the perfect pitcher to cover the middle innings in a game that starts with a lefty. The ability to have a combination of [lefty starter for 4-5] + [Peralta for 2-3] + [Hader for 2-3] seems almost unfair.
  3. The exact order of the competitive balance selections should come out sometime over the next week. The Brewers will receive a Comp A round pick which currently would fall between selections #34 to #39.
  4. I am enjoying reading the (most likely meaningless) Bryce Harper tea leaves. From earlier today at the United Center (per this Tweet)...
  5. Grant Brisbee article for SB Nation... Bryce Harper’s free agent suitors should include the Phillies, Giants, and ... Brewers?
  6. Puk and Luzardo for Realmuto, LOL. This yahoo lost all credibility with that offer. I can’t even tell which side of that deal you think is laugh out loud funny? He also says it would require a third piece as well. Kiley is one of the more credible baseball talent evaluators currently writing in the public sphere, not really a “yahoo” in my opinion.
  7. Just catching up, but saw this Craig Mish Tweet from earlier today. Craig usually has credible inside information when it comes specifically to the Marlins:
  8. Most importantly I would assume this removes the Rays from the list of teams looking for a catcher upgrade this off-season.
  9. Per Ryan Divish... Per Ken Rosenthal... More players involved as well, here is the MLB Trade Rumors link.
  10. If the Marlins would take that package for Realmuto I would be all for it. An opportunity to acquire Realmuto while keeping both Hiura and Burnes would be too tough to pass up, IMO.
  11. Via this Tweet from Max Wildstein:
  12. Maybe it is partially a product of the uncertainty in knowing what the actual acquisition cost would be for Realmuto or salary cost and years required to sign Grandal or Ramos, but I am a bit surprised by how many people opted for no external acquisitions in the poll. I think Piña would be a good backup catcher next year, but for a team that has aspirations of another deep playoff run catcher seems like an obvious place where an upgrade could pay big dividends. I do think Realmuto is cost prohibitive (in terms of trade capital), but I think either Grandal or Ramos could prove to be a solid investment. If Grandal can be signed to a 3 year deal for around $42 million I think the Brewers should seriously consider it, even with including the loss of a second round draft pick. I also would be content with Ramos if he could be signed for a one or two year commitment with an AAV somewhere between $11-13 million.
  13. A player is only eligible to be offered a Qualifying Offer one time in their career, regardless of whether they turned it down or accepted it.
  14. I am not convinced this necessarily makes sense for the Brewers, but it sounds like the Yankees are indeed planning to move Sonny Gray this offseason. Per this Bob Nightengale Tweet:
  15. I don’t see any scenario where the Brewers could acquire Realmuto without including at least one of Hiura and Burnes. The problem with hoping he could be acquired without giving up Hiura is the other teams that could really use Realmuto to upgrade their lineups also have good prospects... A’s - Jesus Luzardo, A.J. Puk, Sean Murphy Angels - Jo Adell, Griffin Canning, Brandon Marsh Astros - Kyle Tucker, Forrest Whitley, Yordan Alvarez Braves - Mike Soroka, Kyle Wright, Ian Anderson, Touki Toussaint, Austin Riley, Cristian Pache, Luis Gohara Diamondbacks - Jon Duplantier, Taylor Widener Dodgers - Alex Verdugo, Keibert Ruiz, Dustin May, Gavin Lux Mets - Peter Alonso, Andres Gimenez, Jarred Kelenic Nationals - Victor Robles, Carter Kieboom Phillies - Sixto Sanchez, Alec Bohm, Adonis Medina Rays - Wander Franco, Brendan McKay, Brent Honeywell, Jesus Sanchez, Matthew Liberatore Red Sox - Michael Chavis, Jay Groome Rockies - Brendan Rodgers, Colton Welker, Peter Lambert Both the Braves and Rays are in a great position to acquire Realmuto without sacrificing the entire top end of their farm system. Other teams with top 15-ish prospects (A’s - Luzardo; Angels - Adell; Astros - Tucker & Whitley; Nationals - Robles; Rockies - Rodgers) could make the move if they were willing trade their top end talent. With the amount of likely competition for Realmuto I don’t think the Brewers would be in the discussion very long if they ruled out Hiura, and especially not if they also ruled out Burnes.
  16. I don’t know this to be a certain fact, but I believe the Indians were one of the first teams to incorporate weighted ball throwing programs as part of their organizational pitcher development practices.
  17. The Seibu Lions are reportedly expected to hold a press conference on Monday to announce that they will be posting Yusei Kikuchi who would become an MLB free agent.
  18. The MLB.com Statcast Podcast this week outlined just how valuable a catcher with Realmuto’s skill set is not only offensively, but also defensively. They discussed the current dearth of offense among MLB catchers and speculated some reasons why. They identified the following list as teams that should be attempting to acquire J.T. Realmuto this off-season: Rays Rockies Red Sox Astros A’s Angels Braves Nationals Mets Brewers Diamondbacks Dodgers Phillies I thought that list was pretty good overall. It also reinforces the idea that if the Brewers were serious about adding Realmuto there is going to be a lot of competition. If the Brewers decline to include Hiura as a headliner I think the Marlins will just move on to their other discussions. I will be surprised if the Marlins don’t get a perceived haul for two seasons of Realmuto.
  19. I don't know whether or not it makes sense from the baseball and roster construction side of things, but from the sappy fan support side it would be fun having a guy that grew up playing little league in Madison (from ages 8-12) on the Brewers roster.
  20. A lot of videos available of the players in the 2019 draft class at 2080 Baseball.
  21. This is disappointing news. I am surprised it is Cincinnati of all teams, if it hadn’t been announced yet where he was going I think that would have been my last guess. I have faith they will hire someone capable of doing a good job, but certainly disappointing when you think of the rapport he seemed to have built with the current staff.
  22. Did not realize that, thanks for the information!
  23. From this MLB.com Free Agent Article: What surprised me the most was not even that the Brewers were included under the interested teams, but more that the Cardinals were excluded. I think the Cardinals have been considered the favorite to sign Donaldson to this point.
  24. Not like we accepted it and he declined. I am guessing there was no chance we were picking up that option at $15mil. I believe it was going to be a $1 million buyout if the Brewers had decided not to pick up the one year at $15 million. If the Brewers had no intention of actually offering the $15 million and Moose just walked away from a $1 million buyout he is really playing his cards wrong. I wonder if the team option specified that the player had to choose first, [sarcasm]or if they did rock, paper, scissors to see who had to make the first move[/sarcasm]?
  25. We don’t do polls very often, but with the off-season just getting underway it makes sense that the site identifying “catching WOAH SOLVDD” moments since 2003 could help the Brewers front office determine the best direction to go with the catching position in 2019. Note: This isn’t a prediction of who you think will be the starting catcher, but rather who you think SHOULD be the starting catcher come opening day in 2019. Feel free to post an explanation for your decision below.
