  1. Lineup today with four straight lefties at the top. Travis Shaw starting at 1B for only the 2nd time this year. Shaw played 6 innings total at 1B this season and 4.2 innings at 1B last season. He did start 28 games at 1B back in 2016 with the Red Sox.

  3. Albers has now given up 15 runs in his last 2.1 innings pitched. That would be impressive even for a position player.
  4. Rockies LHP Tyler Anderson has 3.9 WAR this season according to Baseball Reference. That is currently the 11th highest total among all pitchers in MLB this season.
  5. All comps are probably silly, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy them. The tough thing is that so many different factors go into a player’s success or failure that even individuals with perfectly similar tools and physical comparisons could pan out very differently. Regarding Turang the MLB player that he reminds me of somewhat (albeit hitting from the opposite side) is Trea Turner. That is obviously a lofty comparison, and I haven’t watched enough of either one of them to know how accurate or inaccurate it may be.
  6. This made me realize I apparently missed the memo that Stephen Drew retired before the season this year.
  7. Since the tough Cardinals and Cubs series the first week of April the Brewers have gone 32-16 in games at Miller Park. Success at home was obviously a hallmark of the 2011 team as well.

  9. This means NOTHING, but it is slightly ironic that Jonathan Villlar has gone 5-for-10 with the Orioles thus far.
  10. It is difficult to know what kind of offensive contribution to expect from Schoop at this point. He has a lot of experience for being just 26-years old. He has kind of been all over the place thus far in his career. As far as weighted runs created he has been well above and well below league average (of 100)... 2014 (481 PAs): 64 wRC+ 2015 (321 PAs): 113 wRC+ 2016 (647 PAs): 99 wRC+ 2017 (675 PAs): 127 wRC+ 2018 (375 PAs): 86 wRC+ [sarcasm]Seems like odd years are his thing.[/sarcasm] He has been up and down in waves with his production within those seasons as well. If from today on he could hit at or slightly above 100 wRC+ the rest of the season he would be a useful addition to the lineup. I do hope he hits in the #6 spot more often than the #4 spot going forward.
  11. Well Schoop certainly has his chance to be a hero in his Miller Park debut.
  12. Did the strike three foul tip to Moustakas hit the dirt? Maybe I miss saw it.
  13. Then when they do come in they’re rusty. As we get later in the year I wonder if they’ll start using a Hader a little more. He’s had too many weeks with just 2 innings pitched and then when he comes in after a week off he doesn’t have good command. It is funny that CC constantly chalks Knebel’s struggles up to “not pitching frequently enough”, but won’t use him when down one in a game like this.
  14. Circling back on the question from earlier, coming into tonight when Jonathan Schoop starts an at-bat 0-2 this year he is batting .101 BA / .123 OBP / .203 slugging (.326 OPS). Needless to say he should stop getting down 0-2.
  15. I have a strangely good feeling about the next two innings, but please don’t mark my words.
  16. I’m surprised they are going to leave Guerra in to face the top of the order again.
  17. He grounded out on the first pitch earlier, that is the only one I can think of that didn’t go 0-2.
  18. That probably just means the upcoming commercial break will have two Pizza Ranch commercials followed by two Gruber Law Offices commercials.
