  1. Similar to lance Lynn for the cards before he became a starter the next year.
  2. AAA by mid season, September callup. Has great reliever potential down the stretch if we're in a playoff race.
  3. Still not sure I would prefer Gonzalez over Howell. Will have to see what he signs for eventually and compare it then.
  4. I too am interested in the sub conversation of this discussion. That being where coulter eventually gets moved to... I am hoping he sticks at 3B and is close to major league ready by the time Rami is finished in Milwaukee.
  5. Great discussion... With the current trade market and the fact that Gamel was acceptable at 1B last year on a team with playoff aspirations I think this is a no brainier.... Dangle Hart and get as much as possible, if gamel/Morris/halton can't hold down 1B and that's our biggest issue we are probably in rebuilding mode til the young pitchers get seasoning anyways...
  6. Why would it be? I think if teams are scared off we should definitely jump in and get him on a 1 year incentive boosting type deal. Let Shaun re build his resume for a team where he likes it. Do each other a favor for next year.
  7. I agree we should wait... If marcum continues to slide by revisit that at 1 year rather than multi year on dempster... I like Edwin a little more actually
  8. Still think Howell would be a good fit.
  9. I want Howell on a one year at less than Burnett money.
  10. I would rather see bianchi than Maysonet again. Wish we had a bat with some pop closer to being ready.
  11. To be honest fiers gives us some hope that we won't be filling 4/5 of the rotation next year. Yo, fiers, one of Marcum/Grienke and then 4-5 are a combo of Peralta( threw extremely well last start), Thornburg (wed at AAA and his big league start was more good than bad), or possibly a FA type.
  12. What good would having Maysonet up and playing do? He is not young, and not part of any teams future. Bianchi on the other hand should get an extended look by the end of the year to see if he can be a possibility for 2013 as a role player or even as the starter.
  13. Win is a win. Cinci loss and it's 4 games. Who woulda thunk?
  14. He still gets on base at. .300 clip. Impressive actually.
  15. That said I would love Estrada, and knitzler in the pen with Fiers holding down that 5th spot.
  16. I'm not a fan of Dillard by any means, but he is on a nice run right now in his last few appearances...
  17. Adam Dunn is the best example I see. I hope weeks does not finish at .159 this year, but trusting track records is why Dunn has 16hr's and his career OBP and ops for the CWS this year. Think Chicago would be kicking themselves if he was posting those numbers for another al team while they paid? Yea weeks track record, salary mean he is going to be in the lineup. Find something else to try to change...
  18. Not a brewer but didn't Barmes fall down stairs carrying venison? Unusual too.
  19. I was not excited to list that but it adds up to 5-6 innings pitched...
  20. If it were based on major league "stuff" it would be Peralta or TT. If its based on needing to see what you actually have I think Fiers. If they want the fans to go nuts it could be Vargas, Mcclung, or Jason marquis off waivers. So out of those watching fiers tonight, many rewarding a good start with the first chance makes some sense...
  21. For the record I would be in favor of this... Ax, Krod, Veras, Loe. Parra as your long man. Knitzler, and Henderson. When Marco is back shift him back to the pen for the arm struggling the most. That means the fifth starter spot would be fiers, Peralta, or TT in some combo.
  22. If could make the calls who would you have filling out the 7 man pen right now. I feel like we have too many guys at the front end that are just filling roster spots...
  23. I think they are watching fiers tonight... A promising outing and he will be called up Tuesday. A poor one Parra, McClendon, Dillard, and Perez will be your four headed sp for Tuesday. I know AAA is not the majors, but we have multiple relievers with better stuff while our major league pen is filled with situational journeymen. Henderson deserves a call, if knitzler is healthy he is a major league pitcher. Let's put the best 25 in the majors and stop worrying about maintaining depth when depth is named Dillard.
