  1. I can see the book on Weeks already. 10 pitches and 8 of them away and two at the knees in the center. They must be saying 'keep the ball away from him'.
  2. do you think Ben told them to keep Obie around just for today; i cannot ever remember Ben getting so hammered in an inning; if it only two runs, I will be happy - and as I type... it was only.... two... wow c'com Crew get one back to give Ben a boost
  3. We do have some big time prospects here there and everywhere. re Katin, I can only reiterate that the scouting report on Miami (Braun) mentioned that Katin is a monster that can really hit. I am liking Jack Z.'s approach of drafting big time guys. The poor Oakland A's may only ever be a good ball club. But with guys like Weeks and Fielder (and can I guess Braun and Katin) we may end up with a big-time, great ball club one day in Milwaukee. And Milwaukee deserves it.
  4. Now THAT'S how you do stats. Simple, clear and leading to a conclusion. I would think it would so worthwhile to update that wee stat weekly. As it approaches ONE we can become happy. If it ever goes below one, we can book tickets to the world series. We should call it the SWurar split. That is Salome v Wilcutt unearned runs allowed ratio. Currently it is at 4.17 (1.71/.41). Or, because Bill invented it, we can call it 'Bill's SWurar' split. Or in day to day conversation (you have to admit SWurar is hard to say) we can abbreviate it and call it the B.S. split. I like it. Good job, Bill. Super good job.
  5. I would have thought he would get in a couple of days fishing. The guy is sure dedicated. or I can go with The younger Yost, the first baseman, must have an outstanding range factor. Is it not great to see these teams WINNING? Sorry, but I do think it is important! IMO. IMHO. Really.
  6. No jab intended Thunnis. It is just that poor Mark has been seeming to go 4 strong innings, then have an attack of the Jimmy Haynes (translation: go 4 good, and oopsy in the 5th or 6th). I was happy to see Mark pitched good after the 2 run homer. It is good to see. The youngster does have to learn! And I am sure he will.
  7. Mark Rogers close to his first win. He went 5 innings without exploding. Gave up one 2 run homer, but left with a 3-2 lead... and that lead intact into the 9th... Maybe...
  8. happy, happy, smiley, smiley 6 innings pitched, 6 hits one bb, 4 ks one earned run It will be a NR for Ty - left at 1-1, but Huntsville up 2-1 now in the 8th
  9. hmmmm, Nashville gave back all its lead and more to go down 5-4. Fielder with a couple of fielding errors... oh no! But they came back with a run in the 7th and are still batting with the score at 5-5.
  10. Just a note re the Nashville game. Glover was down 1-0 in the 6th, but the guys have responded with 4 runs to lead 4-1 now. The team chasing Nashville (Memphis) for the division lead have won 6 straight and are having trouble making ground. That is a nice, nice team that Nashville.
  11. So, we brought in a rightie to face two left hand batters in a tight, late inning situation. Looks like Doug needs to go shopping for Ned. Ned does not trust many of his options in the pen. Now I know why he often leaves the starters in too long... he is scared to pick up the bullpen phone.
  12. Let's hope we can draw upon some unused luck here. There is no way you walk two batters with a three run lead in the 8th. There is something really wrong with Botts. I hope Maddux can work it out.
  13. I should just have a saved file that says: "wow, those four pitches were nowhere near the zone" please, Ned, see what we all can see, Botts is not right today.
  14. Oh good. That inning lowered Botts era to 3.89. If he can lower it a bit (make up for the yukky week) he can still be traded. A veteren reliever with, say a 3.3 era can nab a prospect.
  15. I hope Bottalico has a short lease, my gamecenter showed those four balls being way, way out of the zone. No nibbling. Just no control for the guy.
  16. WI, I love this team and enjoy all aspects. Even when they cause me pain, I enjoy the fact that there is hope and I can see ways around the pain (I mean with more decent managing). You know, you have said 'a million' complaints about Ned's decisions. But, I actually give factual reasons for my opinion. There have not been a million, and in fact, before this week I have not been too hard on Ned. In fact, he was a non-entity as far as the performance of team, IMO. However, in this past week Ned has actually done, IMO, a number of absolute blunders. He is showing no leadership and confusing the players. Of course, my friend Brett, just comes back with prove it, prove it, prove it. I cannot prove it at all. It is my opinion. But I bet I am right. This team has mental (scared to win) issues. And poor Ned is not helping them at all. I am disappointed this great team is scared to step forward. They will soon, or they will end up in Las Vegas. I dont think we can endure to many more years of losing. In the past we drafted bad and cheap and had bad players. But now, so sad, we have decent players, even good, but we mentally blunder day in and day out. Let me enjoy me team. And for all the idiots out there who accept loserdom, please let me NOT ACCEPT LOSERDOM.
  17. Brian, let me ask how far I would get on this web site if to every poster I disagree with I post 'relax, get a life, get some medical help' I can tell you that post has come from quite a number here. I appears this place attracts those people who are so 'self intelligent' that if someone disagrees with them, it means that person is mentally ill. What is with that Brian. And, by the way, if I DID post like that you would come down like a ton of bricks on me. Why is there such a clear double standard here Brian?
  18. WI, let me ask you a couple of questions. Why did I get jumped on for posting a comparison of the two lineups last night, but the almost verbatum post tonight (from someone else) draw intelligent conversation? Why is it that because I believe we have talent and have mental shortcomings, I am ridiculed with 'prove it' and 'relax'.? This team spends 10s of millions on salary and yet so many 'fans' say 'oh, relax, they are just no good'. I accepted the fact for years and years we were talentless and focused on the small hopes we could find whereever we could find them. So I have a history (not just one week) of posting my opinions. I just so much disagree with all you guys who accept loss after loss and blunder after blunder as 'that is life'. What is amazing, is how you refuse to accept there is some valid opinion other that yours. Do you know how pea-brained that it? I can accept your feelings of 'it is only just a game and relax and who cares'. But what the 'f' is this where you after one week of reading wisdom you recommend psychotherapy. Excuse me, maybe you should have a look in the mirror. But that may worry you what you discover.
  19. I keep trying to find out why the heck we play incompetently so much more than other teams. So I hypothesise night after night, game after game. I certainly do not agree that MY hypothesis/conclusion is always the farthest from all other conclusions. I know you are in the camp of 'the Brewers are just bad talentwise so what do you expect'. But, Brett, I completely disagree with YOUR hypothesis/conclusion. And I do not call you ridiculous. I just disagree.
  20. oh, sorry, Fike Ned turned it into a panic, because Ned showed he was scared. He left Wise in when he should not have. I am not saying anyone would know what was going to happen (4 runs), but you give your team the smell that you are worried. You tell your other 5 relievers that you do not even trust them to hold a 7 run lead. That will come back and bite you in future games... mark my words. So Wise is confused why he is pitching. Turnbow is thinking 'what the heck is going on here'. The other 5 relievers are thinking 'why are we here if we do not even get to pitch in THIS situation'. On top of turning this into a panic (it really was not a panic, but it came close, the tie run was ON DECK), Ned completely lost opportunity to do so many good things for the future. He would have left Wise as unhittable in the Braves eyes. He could have got a glimpse of what some of his struggling relievers were up to (are they getting out of their funk). Instead of leaving a 'good job' taste in everyone mouths. Ned left us with a bad taste. Even if the struggling relievers had given up 4 or 5 runs, you LEARN something from that. You learn, 'oh, my those guys are really not cutting it'. But Ned learned nothing, confused his players, and caused panic. Stupid Ned.
  21. Give me a break Hoffy Not even we can blow a 7 run lead in the 9th. So there is NO WAY you use your best two relievers. It is just dumb, dumb, dumb for so many reasons. I pointed out a couple. Are you related to Ned?
  22. Ned, way to manage a laugher into a panic. You are a joke, Ned.
  23. There is no worry about this. But if leave a guy in to 40 pitches, when he should not be there, what do you expect. I am even sure the players are confused by Ned. Confused players do not relax and play well. My new theory about the Brewers: Ned is dazed and confused, and SCARED - and therefore the players are.
  24. Way to panic Ned, even your players can smell your fear. You should not have used Wise in the 9th. You should only use Turnbow if they score like 4 or 5 runs. You should calmly trot out your worst reliever then the next one. They will not, cannot give up 7 runs in a nineth. Dont worry, Ned. But your fear is rubbing off on your players. Now I begin to understand why they play scared and choke so much. Ned, be a LEADER.
  25. Ned has no idea about managing. He does not realise it involves many, many little decisions... each is important. Here he has a chance to give some struggling reliever some work. But he does not. Now Atlanta will make Wise unavail for tomorrow. They see Wise more for next game against him Dumb, Ned, dumb. You constantly do dumb things and miss win-win opportunities for your players. You are great rah, rah but strategy dumb, dumb.
