  1. I don't really get what you meant by this. I am sorry: Prince was mad he got his $666,000 or whatever it was saying something to the effect "so many players have gotten so much more than me who are in my same situation and have performed much worse." Which is completely out of touch while Braun said he understood how the baseball salary structure is with mlb and had no complaints. Prince was irrationally in the wrong and should talk to the union instead of getting mad at the Brewers and Braun showed class and maturity. As for my original feelings about Braun was man is this guy full of himself. That has toned down seeing him congratulate Counsell after a game winning score and those kind of things. He really wants to win and I don't know if I saw that last year.
  2. Very interesting comments coming from a player. My original take on Braun was much worse after hearing how he knows the money situation unlike Prince's take and how he's so fired up when a player does well to help the Brewers win. I think players on the Brewers like him but his first impression is too Miami. As for confidence I think Corey and Billy are confident and they are liked. Ryan has toned it down and will continue to grow on people.
  3. Skiles in! For the younger Brewer fans Skiles he had a 13 game career for the Bucks in 86-87 after being a great point guard at Michigan St. My favorite quote from Skiles at the time: Asked during one of his times on the dl: How do you feel? "How do you think I feel? I'm 22, my back's killing me and my hair's falling out!"
  4. If so then how come we hear them say it's great for Billy's stroke when he starts going to RF. JJ has to go the opposite way instead of just pulling the ball. Prince is just not a power hitter since he goes to all fields. All good hitters should be able to go the opposite way on outside pitches, if not they will be two hopping to the SS too many times. Carlos Lee was trying to teach Prince that at two strikes you have to do whatever you can to get the guy in. It's a mindset not yet learned by all these players and at times that is why they will struggle.
  5. The portion I like about small ball is ABC. Get the guy on, get him to third then get him in. When a leadoff double starts an inning why not try to hit the ball to right? For some hitters that is what they want them to do anyway to open up the field. A ball to the right side has a better chance of getting a hit than a bunt and serves the same purpose. Try to blast it btwn the first and second basemen and if you get height it's a tough throw to get the guy at third and definitely better than hit to right. Too many times the Brewers pop up or hit it to left. You know the coaches want that portion of small ball but these players haven't perfected it yet. Check out the dugout when a player grounds out to second advancing the runner to third. Plenty of handshakes. Like Kapler's double down the line that style of hitting created back to back runners at second since the ball got thru. Smart hitting!
  6. OK here is my story: We have been season ticket holders since day 1: 91 season tix holders remained 3 yrs ago and we never had to pay our tix before January 15th. We would get a perk, like batting practice, to pay before Feb 15th. This year the date moved up to December 15th where if you paid then my tix would be $60 each instead of $95 if paid a month later. They threw in the Prince signing which is huge imo. So $60 x 2 tickets x 81 games = $9720 + 81 gold parking passes = $1215 for a total of $10,935 now before Christmas instead of after. I'm not really complaining but it does make a difference and that is what they offered. As Pedro said the date was never set and always flexible. How many scheduling conflicts could you have? Let's say the Brewers dropped the ball and never asked Prince but offered it to their season tix holders. Well at some time they had to approach him and Prince declined. I don't see it. Prince is pissed and we know he holds grudges. His contract, his being mad about booing the home team, I wonder how he liked the Mets fans booing Johan yesterday?, frustrated about his lack of production, his dad's situation, being young and not maturing yet? I have no clue but even if you want to blame the Brewers Prince had to say no which says something or they had to be afraid to ask him. To me those seem less likely.
  7. Why do you say that casey? In November I paid a month earlier than ever and chose to meet Prince and get a bat. This letter said a last minute scheduling conflict Prince wouldn't make it. A date was never set, change it. Who else is there signing but Prince? No one. This has to fit Prince's schedule and there were 9 other identical Saturday's it could have worked. To me it seems like Prince said he didn't want to do it and the Brewers are covering for him. Do you think any season ticket holder would have been upset about attending in any of the 6 other Saturday's prior to the All-Star break? Of course not. There was never a set time and the thing about season ticket holders is they are around for the entire year for the most part. No one would have been upset about a later date since no date was every set.
  8. True endaround but the date was going to be set to fit Prince's schedule. A letter was sent out on April 11th stating a "last minute scheduling conflict" happened. Well that eliminates kids birthdays. Point is a season ticket holder would wait around all year for Prince and it did not have to happen at the beginning of the season. I believe if Prince wanted this to happen they could have aranged it. If they thought Saturday's were the perfect time here are some other Saturdays: May 10th: maybe not since the game is at 2:45 but move it up to 9:30-10:30 and all would be fine May 31st: Same 6:05 time June 14th: Same 6:05 time June 21st: same 6: 05 time July 5th: same 6:05 time July 12th: same 6:05 time July 26th: same 6:05 time Aug 9th: same 6:05 time Aug 23: same 6:05 time Sept 6th same 6:05 time Sept 27th probably not since Cubs game scheduled for 12:05 After April 26th the Brewers have 11 Saturday home games where 9 of them were the exact same time. Without a need to perk the season ticket holders early in the year they could have seen if any of those games would have "fit" into Prince's schedule where he didn't have a kid's birthday, family obligation or his dog ate his homework. Pretty fishy!
  9. Yeah I don't mind that Ryan jumped in but the when the Brewers said last November the date would be flexible to fit into Prince's schedule that meant many choices. They picked Apr 26th from 10:30-11:30 when they have a game against the Marlins at 6:05 that night. Having a game the night before means they are in town so the conflict "at the last minute" isn't away from Milwaukee. I'm interested seeing what Prince has to do at that time the day after a night game with a game that night. He "no longer will be able to take part in this "special event". That means he planned to but something came up? Contract? No meat? No HR's? I can't wait to get to a big city? As for not consulting with him they didn't know the schedule since they wanted to work it to Prince's liking. rwa you might be right but if Prince wanted to do this they could have done it any date this year. Season ticket holders will be here all yr and obviously are very patient. I have a bad feeling about this!
  10. One of the perks for paying your season tickets early was you got to get a $60 food & beverage voucher per seat or an autographed Prince Fielder bat. After paying the bill last year I called my rep and asked when the event would happen and he said sometime around the start of the season when Prince gets back in town. OK, flexible, we will know later. Later came yesterday in the form of a letter. Dated April 11, the bat signing and meeting will happen Apr 26th from 10:30-11:30 but.... "Unfortunately, due to a last minute scheduling conflict, we have learned Prince will no longer be able to take part in this special event. However, we are excited to announce that Ryan Braun, 2007 ROY, will be taking Prince's place." First off: "last minute"? A letter dated 15 days in advanced with an announced replacement is not last minute. I understand if a player doesn't want to do these things but he must have agreed to it at some time, now to have the balls to blow off the "season ticket holders" who this season paid more than a month earlier than past yrs in advanced for this perk, is showing where his head is and foreshadowing his departure imo. Am I reading too much into this or....has Prince gone diva on us at 23? Thoughts?
  11. I'm more fired up now after hearing a guy named Seth on Cliff Sanders' pre-game talk say Sheets is no where in the same catagory as Johan. Show em Benny!
  12. It's the easy outs I don't like. Put some pressure on the defense. Make them make plays. Check it out how many easy outs we make. trwi7 pathetic is right!
  13. Jr laughing to himself: "I can't wait to hear the booing for Coco": One of the greatest natural personalities I have heard. Good fun and loves to play the game.
  14. Very funny guys: He was anticipating something:
  15. Hint: He was laughing while saying it.
  16. face value: I sent you a PM
  17. 2nd row right next to the on deck circle of the Reds along with gold parking pass. Face value: PM me or call @ 414.975.5791 Thx!
  18. I loved when he was fired up after Hart knocked him in and his slapping of Counsell after he scored showed how much he wants to win. His response about the contract situation being that he understands that part of baseball really shows his maturity. I don't know if he has matured so much and feels at ease more or if I misjudged his controlled confidence. Whichever I like his emotion and see leader qualities in him I didn't last year. That's huge!
  19. Success brings more fans, opening day will be interesting say if the Brewers are 3-0 or even 2-1 with a good road series victory vs the Cubs. You know Turnbow will get it when he is running in and probably when he is introduced at the beginning of the game. I understand a "fans" right but what is that "fan" doing to help the team? Cheer and question what you don't believe it right but booing before a player has done anything is weak and unfortunately we will hear it Friday.
  20. In spring training Simmons posed this situation to Kendall: How do you get both runners out if you're forcing a runner back to an occupied 2nd base. Kendall didn't know the answer at first then he figured it out, where Simmons said he's seen it happened 3 or 4 times only. Force the guy back to the bag tag one guy and talk the other guy off the bag. When Kendall tagged Fukudome it appeared his first reaction was to go to second base and try for the double play----but he was too far off. To see a catcher comfortably block all the pitches in the dirt, to frame pitches and to understand situations is huge.
  21. Any weather updates from Cubbieville? Tuesday looks better so how much will they try to get this game in?
  22. The Yost haters ripped Yost last year on all the changes so he was 7 over "standard"? Let's see, he started out with Graffy and Counsell switching off so this year with a more set lineup it will be interesting hearing the talking heads rip Yost on the normal day offs for the regulars.
  23. Last night on Homer's show, Homer asked James about clutch hitting. He said Ted Simmons over a 21 yr career hit .272 with no one on and .299 with runners on with an OPS 100+ points higher. Is that clutch? James went on to say he would have to look at it closer and he is reevaluating his take on clutch hitting. He went onto say that in the 70's he read an article by someone that got him into believing clutch hitting didn't exist. He now believes much more studying needs to be done on the subject. Interesting coming from the guru on stats. Anyone else hear the interview?
  24. Haudricourt said he just missed a granny in the third: So does that mean he's close or he's lost some pop?
  25. I missed the anti-Hardy sentiment. Where do you get that feeling?
