  1. How was he supposed to "settle on a lineup" with Braun in the minors, Weeks on the DL, and Hart out with a sore wrist?? I don't understand how you can be critical of the multiple lineups early in the year with Braun in the minors it required Graffy and Counsell to play 3rd, then with Weeks and Hardy both out at times, it required them to play 2nd or SS. Hart couldn't play with a bum wrist so it required Gross, Gwynn, and Mench to play more than expected. The Brewers have used fewer lineups than all but 6 ML teams.
  2. If Capallen wouldn't have given up that HR last night, ALL 7 members of the Brewers bullpen would have a LOWER ERA than the best ERA in Houston's bullpen. Wow.
  3. So the double off the righty in the 10th means nothing? I think Ned knows more about his personnel than anyone around here. Just because you would do it...doesnt make it universally correct.
  4. I don't. I expect Soup to settle back down and have a nice outing. I'm seeing something more along the lines of 5-2. Go Crew
  5. Agreed! I've been awfully critical of Hall and his spot as an every-day player all year. I've always known he can flat-out rake against Lefties, but have had my doubts as to whether or not he should be an every day CF against tough righties too. What is really encouraging is that even while he was "slumping" in April and May he still maintained an OPS in the high .700's and low .800's. He is drawing walks and taking the ball the other way. When he does this he can be as good as any CF in the league. Part of me wants to go back and find all the negative posts I said about Billy in May just to show how wrong I was, but I already have one strike against me....and don't want to risk a 2nd by calling myself out. If Hall can continue to do what he's done the last 2 weeks. This team is going to win 100 games.
  6. Haha. no worries. I was just having some fun with ya buddy.
  7. The way I saw it....Spurling was the only option. If you pitch tbow in the 9th and coco in the 10th you would have had to pitch Shouse in the 11th and then forfeit the 12th. Those who say pitch villy....he just pitched 3 days ago for 5 innings. The guy who said pitch turnbow in the 9th and Spurling in the 10th....they made a new rule this week....if you pitch the 8th you can't sit the 9th out and pitch the 10th. Some days its just not meant to be. Ned managed a fine game. this one was on suppan.
  8. Looking at the NL Central tracker...... It'd be a great day to gain a game. The Cards face Haren The Cubs face Wells The Astros face Hernandez Are we even worried about the Pirates and Reds anymore?
  9. How about because it's a long season. Teams have good months. Teams have bad months. The goal is to have more good than bad so that when the invite teams to the post season..you are one of the 8 that they ask. Luckily, the Brewers have good leadership who doesn't panic like some crazy fans. This will pay off big time. Despite going 10-20 in the last 30 games, they are still 5.5 games up in the division. They WILL get hot again. It's the major leagues, everyone gets hot. The biggest key during this rough stretch is the Brewers have managed to win a game in EVERY single series (excluding SD) which has kept the losing streaks short and the damage in the standings minimal. This is a reflection of the manager.
  10. And I gave you a list of 9 reasons why I think he's a good manager, followed by saying..I'm not buying the idea that SOME think it's a good idea to fire him.
  11. I couldn't agree more. That shoud have definitely been on my list. He gives the players their role and puts them in positions to succeed. He's not afraid to take the heat if his decision backfires and more often than not he pushes all the right buttons with the bullpen.
  12. Ummm..You asked it. I said I'm not buying it. Asking it, suggesting it, whatever you want to call it...I'm not agreeing with it. Who's our Harvey Kuehn? Who are we going to axe yost for that will get us to the World Series? Seriously.
  13. 1. He does a great job of staying level-headed throughout the entire season regardless of how things are going. (unlike people on this site!) 2. He does a great job of sticking with players in tough situations to help them gain confidence. 3. He's not afraid to manage, based on his gut feeling, instead of what the popular decision is. 4. He was a coach under one of the greatest managers of all-time for many years. (Bobby Cox) 5. Players like to play for him. 6. He wants to be in Milwaukee and has something invested in seeing this team get back to the post-season. 7. I think he does a great job keeping guys fresh and staying with the hot bat when the situation dictates it. 8. His team's play hard. 9. He's been the manager through the tough times when there was no talent. Now that the talent is here...much of which he broke into the league...you want him fired? And start all over? Sorry I'm not buying it.
  14. Just got home and reading through the thread. I can't even believe people are saying the team was "Yosted". How about "Verlandered"?? So what...you didnt like Graffanino for Braun....big deal. Braun goes 2 for 4 with 2 solo shots and we lose 4-2. Verlander was phenominal. You act like the lineup was the worst ever constructed, but who would you have rather had in there?? Mench against the toughest righty in the league? Gwynn? Miller? Obviously you wanted Braun in....maybe Yost wanted to save Braun the 0-4 with 4 K's to keep some of his confidence. I just dont' see how a no-hitter can be blamed on the lineup?? So Counsell, Hardy, Fielder, Hart, Jenkins, Estrada, Hall and Gross aren't to blame? Just Ned Yost's decision to play Graffanino instead of Braun??

  16. See I guess I just disagree. I feel the only time he's been "BAD" this year was the first Phillies game. I feel like every other outing he's given up runs in, he's pitched pretty well. Sometimes a reliever pitches well and still gives up runs. I thought he pitched well against the Cubs earlier in the week.
  17. I just don't get it. Why the hatred for Ned Yost? We just won an exciting game on the road and I'm all jacked up and I come on here this morning and you'd think we are 10 games below .500 in 4th place. Why not pitch Spurling in the 7th? He's pitched pretty well of late and Wise had just pitched 2 innings. Everyone bashes Yost for hitting Graffy and Counsell next to eachother. They go 7 for 12 in the game. But obviously nobody says "what a brilliant move by Yost for having them both in the game." You'll just wait until the next time they go 0-8 and rip Yost for playing them. People ripped Yost for playing Graffy at first. He saved the game 3 times with (from the sounds of the radio) great plays. Why not pitch Vargas in the 12th? He's been a very dependable starter all year. Villy had pitched 2 innings and has pitched a lot of late. Plus with a move to the bullpen likely for someone in the future, maybe Ned wanted to see what Vargas did in a "semi-pressure" situation. Remember...while all of you manage for the next 5 seconds. Ned is managing with the next 5 months in mind. Bottom line is Yost handed the ball to his closer back-to-back nights with a lead in the 9th inning, Cordero came back to reality a little bit. We managed to win one of them anyways. Be HAPPY people. It's a good off day. Oh yea...and I love how when Turnbow pitches great back-to-back nights you'd think he didn't even play. But if a couple guys get on base, there are 3 pages calling for his demotion to mop-up roll. Brewer fans really piss me off. (I looked and piss is still allowed for now...so I used it.)
  18. I have a hard time placing a lot of blame on Bush tonight. The offense has left 8 guys on base over 4 innings and have failed to score a run.
  19. Last year nobody did. The closest was Padilla who left after 8 innings with a 4 hit shutout going. Buchholz for Houston who left after 7 innings with a 2 hit shutout. Reinnecker for Texas who left after 88 pitches with 1 run and 4 hits. Eaton for Texas who left after 91 pitches with 4 hits and 2 runs. Westbrook for Cleveland left after 7 innigns with 2 runs and 2 hits.
  20. Ummm. Sheets is at 100 pitches. It's 88 Degrees. You have one of the best set-up men in the league. You have the best closer in the league. It really wasn't even a decision worth thinking twice about in my opinion.
  21. So you just choose to ignore his scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts against Florida on June 3rd, his scoreless inning with 1 strikeout against Florida on June 1st, his scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts against Atlanta on May 29, his scoreless inning against Atlanta on May 28th, his scoreless inning with 1 strikeout on May 27th against San Diego, his scoreless inning with 1 striekout against Minnesota on May 20th I'll take the Turnbow from this month. He's been great. I thought he pitched well in the Cubs game. He got squeezed on that at-bat by Barrett and had a little texas leaguer squib past Hardy for the run he gave up.
  22. 2 observations. Turnbow is still filthy good. One of the best set-up guys in the game, who has struggled the 2 or 3 times this year that he couldn't get his breaking ball over. Ben Sheets really needs to prove on Friday @ Minnesota that he is an ace. I mean tonight he pitched OK, but he walked 2 batters and gave up 4 hits. Friday will be a great measuring stick to determine the true staff ace, Capuano or Sheets.
  23. For those of you with DirecTV.... The game is on 669 instead of the standard 642. I don't even know what 669 is, but it has the Brewers broadcast on it.
