  1. maybe he even goes back down on Sunday if Gallardo makes his 2008 debut.
  2. I'm not worried about the rotation at all. Injuries could change that, of course.
  3. yes, you are too old. 10 or 11 pitchers is just so "late 1970's".
  4. he could replace gross when cameron joins the team.
  5. which suggests the brewers still think he is a "prospect", and last time I looked he was doing well this season.
  6. I was referring to post #7 in this thread, not you. I just don't like to call out individual posts if I can avoid it.
  7. it was implied that they can't continue to invest so much in the bullpen, so the question is what happens in the (near) future.
  8. let's stop suggesting linebrink stunk when he was with the brewers. iirc, he had a bad game shortly after joining the crew, but ended up pretty well.
  9. Jeepers. yeah, it would be nice if the record was better, but the team is over .500, and doing that with most of the position players underperforming. let's wait at least 10-14 days before we get excited.
  10. riske is going to be here for a couple more years. the other guys I mentioned aren't. need more than one good setup man.
  11. The team is not bad against righties, but they are pretty average. That means the brewers' pitching has to come through.
  12. maybe not in absolute numbers, but certainly as a percentage of total salary. Pretty close to NY, they have Rivera (15M), Farnsworth (6 m) and Hawkins (3.7m), and the rest are inexpensive. the standard operating practice for small-market teams is to have cheap bullpens. So, who is going to fill in if Gagne, Mota, and Torres are in their last year with the brewers? Pena had a bad start in Nashville. The guys in the minors might be able to fill in for a couple of the guys in the pen, but no closer in sight.
  13. I think webb > peavey, though peavey is a couple years younger, I think.
  14. thatcher could have pitched in the majors last year. But the team had Shouse and Stetter, and exactly how many left-handed sidearmed pitchers do you need? I'd say one, so the only thing lost was that Thatcher was considerably younger than Shouse.
  15. apparently, few hitters these days can adjust their hitting from AB to AB. I think they are getting coached to have repeatable strokes, and just don't have the ability to alter their approach.
  16. has rickie tried to bunt for hits frequently? If not, the explanation is probably that he doesn't bunt very well because he has the speed to get on base if he bunts well. small ball is important when one run will decide the game. Only then. And if you don't have to players to execute it, you shouldn't even do it then.
  17. I wouldn't immediately discredit Lohse. Duncan has done wonders with pitchers who previously underperformed their "stuff".
  18. isn't stetter basically the same guy as shouse. a side-arming lefty? Even if you wanted another lefty in the pen, wouldn't you want guys that are somewhat different?
  19. Gosh, he'll have to get up 5am EDT or so to make that appearance. Another handy excuse to blame for a lack of HR for the Saturday game.
  20. Episode 10. Seth and Derrick go to the Salad Bar and order a "double".
  21. Kendall in 2006: .295/.367/.342 2005: .271/.345/.321 Still seems a really good choice for 9th or 2004 .319/.399/.390 but I was thinking more like the 2006 numbers. Who is going to have an OBP higher than .367, excluding the guys that Yost wants in the middle of the order?
  22. Episode 7: Seth and Derrick volunteer for the team's charity talent show and decide to do pairs chainsaw juggling.
  23. my point was not moving kendall because he was the "hot hand", but because he might be back to performing at his pre-2007 level.
  24. I think it would play on either of the country video stations, or whatever channel plays andy griffith or truck pulls, that kind of stuff.
  25. he might be getting back to hit .290+ average for the season. seems made for the role.
