  1. Say what you want about Suppan as a pitcher but the guy is a complete class act and an example for all athletes to follow.
  2. This pitching staff is gonna look awful next year if we dont find a way to resign Sheets. Suppan is avg at best and Parra and Villy are both huge question marks. Gallardo is the only other starter that I have any confidence in.
  3. These guys cant even hit the ball out of the infield.
  4. The problem is the team has two relievers that are completely untrustworthy in Turnbow and McClung. How long can we possibly go on knowing that two guys in the pen cant be used unless the games get out of hand.
  5. The hardest thing to find in baseball is a true number one starter and that is why Sheets needs to be resigned. The rotation is below avg without him and we will have a very hard time competing for the playoffs without Sheets. A rotation of Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan, Parra and Villy has a chance to be pretty good but without Benny the rotation has more question marks than answers. Seriously do we really know how good Parra and Villy will become? I think both have a chance to be good but I certainly cant say I am sure about either. Suppan is a very expensive innings eater and nothing more and Gallardo has the potential to be an ace. Any way you slice it this team desperately needs to resign him in order for this team to compete for the playoffs for years to come.
  6. Well here goes my first vent of the season. Did I really just drive an hour and a half from Brooklyn to see this half baked offensive performance. Did we really just get two hits in six innings against Nelson Figueroa, the same Nelson Figueroa that went to my high school (Lincoln in Brooklyn ) and has sucked his entire career. It was a cold and rainy night in that filthy ballpark and that performance was awful. Why do we always get shut down by journeyman scrubs like this. Should be fun for me at the ballpark tomorrow watching these guys try to hit Santana. This team can be so depressing at times.
  7. I just hope we can keep Braun, Hart, and Weeks for the next 8-10 yrs. As long as Boras is Fielders agent he is out the door after his 6 yrs service time is up. It will be sickening seeing him in a Red Sox or Yankees uniform, worse Yankees since I live in New York amongst obnoxious yankee fans but at least we have Fielder for 2 more seasons minimum before we trade him away.
  8. Would you trade a young Albert Pujols? No and that is why you dont trade Braun who will be one of the best hitters in baseball. Sometimes the excitement of possible trades overrides what is smart and trading Braun is definitely not a good idea.
  9. Keep Braun at third and forget Blalock who is way overrated and hits lefties about as well as Jenkins.
  10. I really hope we extend Sheets. I just dont understand why most people want him gone. If we do trade him that will leave a huge hole in the rotation, one that cant be filled with a guy like Claudio Vargas. I really dont want to have to rely on Gallardo, Villy, and Parra to lead this team. They are all way too young to lead the rotation without Sheets.
  11. Potential moves like this have me really questioning Melvin. Kendall is not even an upgrade over Estrada. If the team isnt going to trade for a defensive whiz like Laird or a good hitter like Barrett we might as well stick with Estrada for one last season.
  12. By the middle of next year Weeks will be the dominant second baseman in baseball.
  13. Jerry Narron is the last thing this organization needs. The man is as clueless as Ned and Dale. I used to think Melvin was amongst the best GMs in the game but at this point I am really starting to question him. Enough with the Texas Rangers rejects. Narron has shown that he shouldnt be anywhere near a major league team. Between Melvins stubborness regarding keeping Yost and his insistence on keeping the majors worst defense intact I really wonder if he is the man for the job. I am starting to believe that we would be better off dumping Ned and Doug and letting Jack Z have the Gm job.
  14. If Gwynn wasnt basically an automatic out I would somewhat be on board with this. Unfortunately his offense is so deficient that he needs to be traded or sit on the bench as a 5th outfielder/ defensive replacement.
  15. This is great news. I had a huge fear that the Brewers might consider Dusty when we fire Ned.
  16. As a fellow Jew I am more than happy to claim Ryan Braun as one of our own. There really are very few Jewish athletes nowadays and none with a future as bright as Ryan Braun.
  17. Cubs and Yankees being eliminated is a great silver lining!
  18. Gross can be the solid OBP guy that we need and he makes an excellent number 2 hitter. There is no reason to spend a lot of money on a "professional" hitter when we have one in Gabe Gross. A Gross/Dillon platoon is cheap and would be very productive. This team needs to spend the offseason looking for pitching and not worry so much about the offense. We need a solid defensive minded catcher like Laird and some bullpen arms and this team wins the division next year easily. Give Gross a chance, he is cheap and will do a very solid job.
  19. Trading Hall would be a huge mistake, especially for an average starter like Garland.
  20. Joe Torre cant handle a bullpen any more than Nedly can. If Torre didnt have that 250 million payroll he would be exposed as the fraud that he is.
  21. This is why you got the nice little form letter. Sadly prices for tickets in baseball and every other sport seem to rise dramatically every year to cover player salaries. Its sad how the average fan is being priced out more and more each season.
  22. I think Ned would be perfect for that job. I think he should ask out of his contract to go to Pittsburgh.
  23. The letter should have pointed out that mediocrity is the goal of the organization and thank the fans for showing up in record numbers for a mediocre team. "Yes Ned is coming back to ensure that our playoff caliber roster falls short once again". As Ned has pointed out one of his goals was record attendance and because of him we achieved that". Ned is fine and an organization builder as Doug Melvin pointed out. He even let us trade Overbay so Fielder could have a shot. We are so lucky to have Ned and maybe if you fans wouldnt point out his many flaws he wouldnt be so belligerent. In summation please continue to be suckers as we will do our best to make sure we fall short of greatness"
  24. I would love to see Kremblas get a shot at the job, I just wish this would happen now. Yost has had his chance and failed to improve his decision making. If you dont improve in 5 years you will never improve. Time for fresh blood. As far as replacing Yost in season which will likely happen I fear that Sveum would be given a shot before Kremblas despite no credentials for the job. If Melvin and Mark A had any foresight whatsoever they wouldnt take a chance on ruining another potential postseason run with loser Ned ruining the team.
  25. Nothing like a polyanna form letter to settle the masses.
