  1. I didn't know who Davies was so I looked him up, BR has him listed as 6 feet, 150 pounds. Did we just trade for a giant string bean? Wow, lol.
  2. I have NEVER been more happy to be wrong than I am right now, looks like we got a pretty decent haul of prospects back from the Stros, and we still have Parra, Lind, Cotts, K-Rod to deal tomorrow if we want to. Good job by Melvin today. Man, I am glad to be able to type that, lol. And oh, suck it Mets.
  3. Exactly, last night it sounded like the Indians were going to come after Carlos Gomez, but I haven't heard anything about that today. The Yankees need pitching, especially now with Pineda going to the DL, but they can go after Leake, Ross, Shields, Cashner...who can we offer them? Lohse? Garza? Those two pitched their way off of anyone's shopping list a long time ago. If this were one of those years where there weren't many deals to be done due to a lack of buyers, I wouldn't be so disappointed in the Brewers front office. But that clearly isn't the case, I can't recall a deadline with this much action and it seems like it has just completely passed Melvin by. Maybe he can surprise us and pull something off yet, but honestly, do any of us really have a lot of faith in that happening?
  4. In a pretty bad spot, from the looks of it. The Gomez "deal" was a disaster, no matter who was at fault. We still have Parra for some inexplicable reason. We didn't flip Lind to St. Louis despite reports everywhere that they wanted him, and the Cards ended up overpaying for Moss. K-Rod and Cotts are still here, even though they were hot commodities, supposedly. I know we still have 24 hours, but we have to face the facts that there are only so many buyers, and it seems like a lot of those have done their shopping already.
  5. Every time I refresh Twitter today: http://media.giphy.com/media/13AbwdfEHTvih2/giphy.gif Same here, I am getting that sinking feeling that the Ramirez trade was our big deal of the deadline. I hope we are wrong. http://tildology.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/looks-like-I-picked-wrong-week-to-quit-drinking.jpg
  6. I would try and work out a trade with the Nationals just to help them fend off the Mets, because the Mets are big fat jerks.
  7. Maybe we get Kaminsky in a deal with CLE for Gomez.
  8. I am trying to stay positive here, but its getting more difficult.
  9. Finally some trade deadline action...possibly. http://i.imgur.com/qT96P.gif
  10. Upton was pulled out of the game, for what that is worth. EDIT: Saw that posted on another forum by multiple people, but the box score for the game still shows Justin Upton in there, so...
  11. http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130927003245/nickfanon/images/8/86/Cat-curse-you-villain.jpg
  12. 3 replies and nobody has suggested we pick him up yet, I'm impressed! He did seem like a good guy with some pretty bad luck, so best wishes to him in the future.
  13. Agreed, I really, REALLY hope we are wrong, but I just get this feeling that this trade deadline is just whipping right by Doug Melvin. So many teams are filling needs before the deadline, and the only time the Brewers are mentioned is "other teams have checked in about...", but we don't seem to be close to doing anything. I'm getting worried that all the contenders will be done shopping, and Melvin will be sitting in his office on Friday like: http://img.pandawhale.com/post-64231-this-is-fine-dog-fire-comic-Im-N7mp.png
  14. That I wouldn't mind, by all accounts he seems like a good guy. Unfortunately as far as ability goes he seems to have been one of those guys where when it was gone, it was gone in a HURRY, which is a shame for the guy.
  15. At this point, I find it hard to believe Kyle Lohse's family has any interest in Kyle Lohse.
  16. I just want the Brewers to win simply because here in Mesa I have to watch the AZ broadcasts, and I listen to sports talk radio here and the announcers and show hosts in this city are some of the most obnoxious, self righteous *bleeps* I have ever been forced to listen to. It just feels good to hear them cry when they lose.
  17. Here in Arizona I am forced to watch the Diamondback telecasts, and just a week or ten days ago they did a little 10 minute or so spot on their pregame show where they followed the clubhouse attendant around before game and talked with him about what he does, etc. They showed him rubbing down the balls with that special Delaware mud that MLB uses. Anyway, he said that for a game he will usually rub down 12 dozen balls, and know by the 7th inning or so if they are going to need more. He also said that the average "life expectancy" of a MLB baseball is 3 pitches. So, if you want to say each team will throw 140-150 pitches in a 9 inning game, you're looking at using what, 95-100 balls?
  18. Looks like he is still in there to me...
  19. A major league team running Lohse out there every 5th day is just a disgrace. He isn't going to "figure it out", he's just going to continue to suck up one side and down the other. Get rid of this clown.
  20. The balance lottery is tomorrow, are those the draft picks that are eligible to be traded? I honestly forget which draft picks can be traded and which cannot be. Maybe teams are waiting until those are assigned to possibly package them with deals. /shrug.
  21. It's a good thing K-Rod's 2 ER weren't the deciding factor, would have cost the Brew Crew home field advantage in the World Series!
  22. At this point I am forced to assume that Lohse has incriminating pictures of Doug Melvin and various farm animals that he is using as blackmail to keep his job. There is no other explanation for this talentless waste of space to still be on a major league roster.
  23. I think it will be Montgomery. As for it not making sense to hire a scouting director for 1 season, I don't think they planned for this to be Melvin's last season. I think they planned on Melvin having 3 or 4 seasons to groom Montgomery to become the GM, but with the abysmal product on the field this year it became impossible to justify extending Melvin's contract so they are forced to accelerate the timetable a bit. I could be wrong.
  24. Oh, Lohse is starting. I can watch something else and then come back for the recap of the carnage later.
