  1. I've had a weird situation. I applied for a job at Generac in Dec. Got a call back last week from HR and wanted to set up a phone interview. Set it for Friday at 4pm. They never called . I called Monday and left a VM asked to reschedule. No response. Not sure what to do next .
  2. If I'm Doug I insist on one of the big 3 arms and something else for Hart. We need top end pitching and we sure aren't going to pay for it
  3. I've done it. Hire at a place got passed over for a promotion twice. Left, went back to school ,got hire back 6 months later with a 2x promotion and then quit after 3 years because I was bored with the job.
  4. If they can make the playoffs and draw around 3 mil they'll have the money to lock him up. If they can't then some tough decisions need to be made
  5. They've gone from a 61 win club to a 65 win club
  6. Has any team put an offer out to Krod? I haven't seen his name anywhere.
  7. Go for Trumbo. That be a nice 3-4-5
  8. I don't get why Doug isn't at least talking to him. When healthy he performed at a 2/3 level. It seems like he'd only be looking for a 1-2 year deal and it would be cheaper than Demster. It seems strange to just not even call the guy given what we had to give up to get him and how well he pitched when he was here.
  9. Split G IP ER ERA PA AB R H 2B 3B HR SB CS BB SO SO/BB BA OBP SLG OPS Innings 1-3 23 67.0 22 2.96 268 246 28 54 14 3 4 11 4 16 72 4.50 .220 .264 .350 .614 Innings 4-6 28 62.2 29 4.16 260 244 30 67 16 0 10 4 1 13 63 4.85 .275 .311 .463 .774 Innings 7-9 8 8.2 5 5.19 34 33 5 8 0 0 4 0 0 0 8 .242 .242 .606 .848 not really lined up correctly but you can see he's awesome for 3 innings and then becomes ave in 4-6 and when he does get past 6 innings hes bad.
  10. For the facts you just stated. He doesn't go deep in to games and gives the HR ball. He's a slightly better version of Dave Bush. He's an awesome long relief/spot starter . Fiers I'll wait and see on. Was his post august fall due to pitching more innings or did the league get a read on him. I'm hoping it's just that his arm got tired. Really we should be looking at sign dempster and Jackson if we want to complete and let fiers/peralta/rodgers/thornburg flight it out for the 4/5 spot
  11. is see a Rodgers/Estrada split for that 5th spot both getting somewhere around 90 innings
  12. They had 2 vets start 42 games. And if Brandon McCarthy didn't get beaned in the head he would have had a lot more. I don't think Estrada is a starter and who knows what to expect from Narveson if anything. Rodgers has pitched more than 140 innings ever. Way to many question marks about health in the present rotation to consider us a playoff team.
  13. I agree with your premise but finding one of that caliber (3/4) who will take a 1 year or even a 2 year deal is going to be next to impossible. Of the pitchers left he's the guy I'd give a 3 year deal to. If Doug can talk him into a 2 with an option year , that would be a huge win for us.
  14. He's a better pitcher than either of those 2. And we signed them when they were in their mid 30's. If he pitches to his norm ie 4.0 era 1.3 whip 200 inng ish we'll have no problem flipping him. You can never have too much pitching and to rely on 4 rookies/ 2nd year pitchers is a recipe for drafting in the top 10.
  15. So if half of them pan out you flip Jackson in 2 years and either get more prospects or use him to fill a hole in the roster. I have no problems going 3 years on Jackson for his 29-32 years. I wouldn't give dempster 3 though.
  16. They only going to trade him if they get grienke. So I'd think they'd want more minor league prospects. Also they need a Cf to replace Hamilton. So maybe Gomez , Thorneburg, and another top 10 prospect.
  17. Troy Renck of the Denver post tweets that the Rockies are still trying to land a starting pitcher, but they'd need to be overwhelmed to move Dexter Fowler. They do like Phillies hurler Vance Worley, he notes in a separate tweet, though I imagine it'd take more than Worley to "overwhelm" them. Worley is reportedly available in trades. Read more at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/#qRyiGJuRS31K8gbl.99 Here's a guy who's young , came off a ok year after a really good rookie year. Maybe able to buy low on him.
  18. I would imagine so.
  19. On espn twitter details to follow RT @Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: Dan Haren in agreement with #Nationals, one year, $13M. Pending physical.
  20. Would love to see him here in RF with Hart staying at 1st. He'd be a monster in the 4/5 spot in the line up.
  21. Deal is dead, jumped the gun I guess
  22. The Cubs have acquired Dan Haren from the Angels in exchange for Carlos Marmol, confirms Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago (via Twitter). The deal was first reported by Yancen Pujols of El Caribe (via Twitter, Spanish link). The deal brings an end to an eventful week of rumors surrounding Haren, who was unlikely to see his $15.5MM option exercised by the Angels. It's likely that Haren's option for 2013 has been exercised as a part of the deal, but there is no official word on that yet. The Halos deadline for picking up the option is 11pm CST. We learned today that both the Cubs and Red Sox were in on the 32-year-old but Theo Epstein & Co. have apparently won out. Marmol is entering the final year of his contract which will pay him $9.8MM. The 30-year-old turned in a 3.42 ERA with 11.7 K/9 and 7.3 BB/9 through 61 appearances last season. Marmol has spent his entire seven-year big league career with the Cubs and has a 3.38 ERA with 11.7 K/9 and 6.0 BB/9 during that stretch. per mlbtraderumors
  23. Can't wait for tomorrow. I hate international breaks. Chelsea v Spuds should be a cracker
  24. I think if Gamel hits AFL like he hit AAA they give him first shot at 1B in ST. Move Hart back to RF and Aoki goes to 4th OF/split CF with Gomez. Other than a couple of bench spots it look like our line up will be the same.
