  1. Depending on the age of the potential purchaser, perhaps some people are concerned they won't live long enough to redeem their Timeless Ticket at a World Series game.
  2. They signed an MVP RF, this guy named Ryan Braun. That is what Melvin will say to reporters in March, just wait.... "with Ryan Braun's thumb healthy now, it is like we went out and signed an NL MVP"
  3. I think Zobrist will be traded to the Angels.
  4. Firing Ned Yost with a week left in the season was Bush League Offering the contracts they did to Fielder & Sabathia was a mistake, glad they didn't sign Hindsight is of course 20/20 but just imagine how much they could have gotten in a trade for Ryan Braun following his MVP season. Not drafting Madison Bumgarner & Mike Trout when they had the chance is arguably their biggest mistakes. Not firing the GM & Scouting Director who passed on Mike Trout & Madison Bumgarner is a mistake. Not offering more for Jose Abreu. Just imagine the Brewers with Trout, Bumgarner & Abreu right now!
  5. Hindsight is 20/20 but Doug Melvin and crew completely misjudged the Corey Hart vs Nelson Cruz comparison. Mistakes like that can cripple a small market franchise.
  6. Part of the problem with the Brewers (maybe a big part) is that they don't have enough high OBP guys (or "guyers" in tribute to Kevin Millar). Because of that they are prone to streaks, relying on the big bats and the 3 run HR. The roster is constructed for another era, where offense ruled. The Brewers don't have enough guys who, when the 3-4-5 guys get cold, can grind out at-bats, get a walk, move a guy over and score a few extra runs or two..... the Lind trade was a very good step in the right direction, but they need a lot more players like that. The way the roster sits right now the Brewers are a long-shot for the playoffs and an even bigger longshot to succeed in the playoffs. I sincerely think the game has changed and passed Doug Melvin by, or at the least he hasn't adjusted quick enough, and it is time for him to retire.
  7. I like the fact that he gets on-base. The Brewers need depth of this sort, because of Lind's past injury history
  8. He had a .236 OBP the year before. Fun with small samples. And .321 the year before that. I'm willing to bet that 2013 was just an off year for him. Is he going to be the next Buster Posey? Of course not. But I think he's a good solid catcher who has shown a propensity to draw walks and get on-base a little
  9. Maldonado had a .320 OBP last season, which tied him for 6th on the team in OBP! He is not as much of a liability with the bat as some here are suggesting. Meanwhile he is borderline elite defensively. But most importantly, we have a player in Lucroy who is developing into a superstar, a Top 10 in all MLB player. And finding ways to keep him healthy is in the best interests of the Milwaukee Brewers
  10. Wish the Brewers would trade Carlos Gomez for Taijuan Walker
  11. Supposedly we don't have money for that. Unless we catch lightning in a bottle with some else's castoff player. If that is the case, I'd rather have Lucroy playing 1B vs LHP, which saves his legs from catching. Maldonado is solid defensively and offensively vs LHP it is a wash vs some AAAA scrub. Whatever precious tiny bits of money we have left over should be spent on the bullpen since Gallardo & others frequently can't pitch 7 innings in a game.
  12. It'll be interesting to see how Taylor develops. I'm somewhat concerned that he'll end up being just a Logan Schaeffer type/4th OF/AAAA player. He doesn't really walk enough to excite as a lead-off man. The SB% isn't incredible and as he fills out his speed on the bases may diminish even more. Doubles power is good, but he doesn't seem to have enough HR power to be a starting corner OF. So he really only projects as a CF. It'll be very intriguing to see how he does in AA ball
  13. crazy to think that Morse started out as a SS with Seattle in 2005! I'm OK with the Brewers not signing Morse, provided that Lucroy is the guy that platoons with Lind, and Martin Maldonado gets more playing time behind the plate. If they get someone worse than Morse to platoon with Lind, well that wouldn't make a bit of sense.
  14. Lester is more of a borderline between an Ace & a #2, with intangibles that make him worthy of ace money. In general I'd rather have Lester in a playoff game pitching for me than Greinke, even though he pitched poorly in the postseason in 2014. He pitched like an ace in the regular season last year and has put up crazy incredible numbers in the World Series in the past. He's a team leader, a workhorse and will help teach the younger players the right way to play the game. It was a great signing by the Cubs
  15. Hardest hit laser beam I ever saw hit at Miller Park was by Jose Bombista. Reynolds hit 'em hard though. Rickie Weeks sure launched a few line drives. I'll never forget the shot Weeks put off the train in Houston MLB sure is low on power-hitting right handers these days. Crazy that a guy like Reynolds who hits @ .220 at best can keep finding work. He hit .196 last year with a .287 OBP, but he hit 22 HR's so teams want him? Very strange. The guy had an 88 OPS+ last season!
  16. The new GM of the Brewers is going to have to have the backbone to tell Mark A that he'll only take the job if Mark doesn't meddle.
  17. right you use that $10 m to get the great Billy Butler! That was out of character for the A's but we'll see if they flip him at the deadline. It was a weird signing though
  18. I think the time to trade Davis would be once he hits arbitration (if you were going to be a Billy Beane style GM), not when he only costs you $500,000 a year. Davis & Gennett are the players you keep right now. Lohse, Gallardo, Gomez, & Ramirez are the guys you trade. (Well Billy Beane would never have re-signed Ramirez anyways)
  19. You can blame that on the 2014 Royals. All pro sports leagues are copycat leagues and MLB is no different Well said!
  20. "This was a very difficult season," Attanasio said. "Even with all the difficulties we had in 2013, last year was more difficult for me. It just was quicker. We were fully prepared to go to the playoffs. I went away (for) a week with my family and I came back and it was like the team was possessed. I didn't recognize the team." And.... so.... the only change you make is with the hitting coach, 1B coach and bringing in a 1B who needs a platoon mate..... and.... that's it?
  21. We'll see how it all plays out, but it does seem like the Brewers could likely struggle this year & be sellers at the deadline in '15 and then change GM & Manager in the offseason. Melvin's contract only goes through 2015 and he's 62 years old. Perhaps he retires after next season The only thing is, if there is going to be regime change, I'd want the new GM making trades at the deadline, not Melvin. No more bringing in Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mensch types please!
  22. At that price the Brewers were extremely foolish not signing Gregerson
  23. I've spent a lot of time at Holiday Parties in the last few weeks with friends & family who are casual Brewers fans and the general consensus is "why care about the Brewers? They aren't going anywhere. They had an epic collapse last season and barely made any changes. Why should I waste money on the Brewers next year?" I think apathy among a fan base is much more dangerous that fanaticism or vitriol.
  24. Meanwhile, Mark A says that the Brewers don't really have a position that needs to be upgraded! http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/brewers-looking-to-improve-not-make-deals-for-the-sake-of-change-b99405560z1-285309091.html
  25. Wait, are you really comparing the Packers & the Brewers? The NFL record 13 time NFL Champion Green Bay Packers?! How many titles have the Brewers won? Oh
