  1. He eliminated the front leg kick, which is helping him get the bat through the zone quicker. Simple mechanics. Well, simple after you've taken 100,000 elite level swings!
  2. You are right. Forgot about that.... OK, scratch Estrada off the list, but Peralta & Gallardo were Brewers developmented pitchers
  3. To spin things a little more positively: Khris Davis, Scooter Gennett & Marco Estrada weren't thought of as Blue Chip Top 100 prospects, and all 3 of them are emerging as possibly very solid starting MLB players. Lucroy was developed into an elite level player as well. Peralta is turning the corner (hopefully) So maybe it isn't all doom & gloom in terms of the Brewers' ability to develop players, and maybe a few more "under the radar" players currently in the farm system will emerge as bigger MLB contributors than currently projected
  4. He's been driving the ball but swings that used to be long Home Runs are now being caught short of the warning track. Some of those will definitely find gaps over the course of the season and turn into Doubles. If this doesn't get fixed he's going to turn into a 18 HR/44 Doubles type of player, hitting .305 with a .385 OBP.... not elite but still dangerous
  5. He probably needs to sit....
  6. Really hoping Rickie can turn it around this year but so far its not looking good. Looks like he's lost another step in terms of his baserunning. Hopefully his bat can come alive
  7. I don't think there'll be a ton of save situations this year so it doesn't matter. Hopefully Henderson can develop more as he isn't even arby eligible until 2016 but he's on the wrong side of 30. Maybe we can trade K-Rod at the deadline.
  8. Braun, Gomez, Segura, Lucroy, and A-Ram say hello. That's all star caliber offense at 5 positions. Maybe. We'll see. Gomez has a ton of potential but even in his best year he had a .338 OBP. The Gold Glove was deserved. Lucroy is a terrifically underrated player but his offense isn't the caliber of Posey or Molina. Can A-Ram stay healthy? Braun is legit. Way way too early to tell on Segura
  9. we have a terribly weak offense and a GM who apparently thinks it is reasonable to have Overbay start a majority games at 1B
  10. While I agree with your first sentence, if the team does somehow land the number one pick in next year's draft it will be protected. Signing a free agent would result in us relinquishing our 2nd round pick, I believe. Great news! I love it when MLB rules are "Melvin proof".
  11. This is why the Brewers need a major overhaul from top to bottom. Disagree that the Brewers have a solid team in Milwaukee. They look like a team that will struggle to score runs and struggle to finish .500, and are a major injury or two away from a #1 overall draft pick in 2015 (which Melvin will be tempted to give away in order to sign a 30 something big name pitcher)
  12. I think the Overbay experiment will be short lived. I don't see him putting up an OBP over .300 and the sooner Roenicke/Melvin realize it the better
  13. Mike Trout looked like the same old potential All-Time great last night, taking King Felix deep for a HR, hitting another rocket single off a relief pitchers leg, making tough plays in CF look routine. Meanwhile the Angels have serious bullpen problems and got beat 10-3.... Corey Hart sat the bench for the Mariners but supposedly will start games 2 & 3
  14. In Game 1 they looked like a legit playoff team. Was nice to see
  15. Lucroy was really amazing today. Blocking balls in the dirt, framing pitches, calling a great game, refocusing Yo when he was starting to lose it. That one leaping grab he had of a Yo 91 mph fastball that got away was incredible. Very impressed with our catcher
  16. 70-92 and Melvin, Roenicke, Ash and the rest get fired
  17. You sell a winning team to the fans by putting a winning team on the field. For the Brewers that means being smart with their limited resources. Exactly! Which means not giving Prince Fielder's money to the likes of Aramis Ramirez, Corey Hart, & Matt Garza!
  18. Hey, Phish shows! I hope Jeffress is able to have a great career. He was a player I really rooted for in the Brewers system. He has a tremendous, live arm, it is just a matter of him gaining more control. I wonder if that is strictly a mechanics issue that can be coached into him?
  19. The time to trade Segura is in the winter before his final year with the Brewers, before he goes into free agency
  20. Deals like this are about a lot more than a players perceived value in a given year from ages 35-40. It is about marketing, sales hype, merchandise sales and yes TV $$$. It is about selling a "winning team" to the fans. I still think the Brewers made a mistake not giving a truckload to Prince Fielder
  21. On the plus side, little moves like this add up and could lead to a disastrous season resulting in Melvin, Ash, Roenicke all getting fired/new regime coming in (not in blue, intentionally)
  22. Overbay has 25-30 HR potential? When? In 2006 when he hit 22 for a career high? I hope Braun isn't hinting around that he hipped Lyle to his Juice dealer!
  23. I must say that this is my favorite post of the spring! Yes RR drives me nuts too, but he's our RR so I'll cheer for him until he gets fired and then will give a sigh of relief and prepare to criticize the new hire!
