  1. Because of Gomez' speed on the bases and defensive ability in combination with the ASG actually meaning something competitively, I think Gomez is a lock to make the team
  2. I'm guardedly optimistic about Tyrone Taylor. I think there's a chance he ends up better than Roache. Taylor 2 years younger than Roache, out-playing him right now at the same level and doesn't have the injury history. He has some fantastic raw athletic ability. Time will tell of course, especially when he starts seeing nasty curve balls in AA ball (presumably next year) Looking at Roache's swing I think he might really struggle in AA ball, but I'm rooting for him
  3. Tigers sold his contract to the Korean Leagues. Sure seems strange. He failed in his cup of coffee in MLB but he seems pretty young to just give up on. This article mentions that he was viewed as having "limited upside" http://www.blessyouboys.com/2012/12/19/3785184/tigers-release-adam-wilk-sold-korean-baseball-league-hot-stove-2012
  4. Unfortunately Khris Davis is only hitting .211 in AAA ball this year and might not be ready to fill in much this year. If Braun goes on the DL, it'll be interesting to see who they bring up. I'm hoping it'll be Gindl who is hitting .294 with an .880 OPS vs RHP in AAA this year I still think Aoki is a strong possibility in a trade. He has plenty of value
  5. The way his hitting mechanics look (overswinging sometimes, pulling his head) it may be difficult for him to sustain his present pace, but there is no arguing with his results. The difference between Gomez & hitters who are elite year in and year out (such as Miguel Cabrera, Robinson Cano, Buster Posey) is that they are extremely consistent with their mechanics and extremely balanced, whereas Gomez is just all over the place. That said, Gomez is one of my favorite baseball players and I'm thrilled with the way he's playing.
  6. Scooter with a season line of .167/.250/.528 right now Concerned that Ron will never start him again now, what with his love of small samples
  7. Lohse/Gallardo/Peralta in the Great American Band Box http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/probable_pitchers/index.jsp?c_id=mil
  8. If the Brewers played the Marlins 35 times a season we could win the AAAA World Series
  9. Wish there were more Brewers hitters who could consistently draw walks like Weeks
  10. ahhh yes the wonders of small sample stats: Figaro now has a 3.47 ERA on the season with a 1.14 WHIP http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/30067/alfredo-figaro?src=mobile
  11. but the bigger question is: was he more sad about leaving Milwaukee or about trying to pitch in the playoffs with Mark Kotsay "backing him up" in center-field?
  12. have to say I really like Figaro.... I think he ca factor into a permanent part of the rotation in the future
  13. If anything I think he misses Kansas City. But he has millions of reasons to like LA
  14. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I have a feeling like both Tucker Neuhaus and Devin Williams have a lot of potential
  15. A few thoughts on last night's game: In general, you want your best relief pitcher (Henderson) throwing in the most high-leverage situations, not just simply "closing in the 9th", so in that regard using Henderson in the 8th was the correct move in my opinion RRR might be "saying" that they want K-Rod to get that 300th Save, but hopefully the real reason K-Rod is closing is to showcase him for a trade in July
  16. Here is how a Baseball team is supposed to protect their pitcher. Check out how many Tampa Bay Rays get punches in on Coco Crisp
  17. Now, here was a Brewers fight, complete with Bosio landing a haymaker (go to about 30 second into the video)
  18. Have the Brewers' bench even cleared during Roenicke's time here? I can't even remember any intense Bench Clearing incidents in recent Brewers history there was this: and this
  19. Gamel & Morris are both left-handed hitters, so they wouldn't fit in a platoon together. For what it's worth, Gamel's splits vs RHP in AAA were even better than Morris'. In 2011 in AAA ball Gamel hit .337 with a .978 OPS and 22 HR's in 377 at-bats vs RHP
  20. yeah not in a million years could I see Ron Roenicke getting in the middle of a brawl the way the Dodgers & DBacks' coaches did yesterday, even though RRR's beloved "mentor" Mike Scioscia absolutely would be right in there fighting for his team
