  1. c'mon Brewers! Jacob Gatewood is right there for the taking!!!!
  2. I'd be thrilled if the Brewers can get Gatewood
  3. At this point I'm hoping for Schwarber or Pentecost at 12, although the huge ceiling of Gatewood is intriguing. Gatewood seems pretty risky though, a boom or bust type I think the Brewers will take Beede if he's there at 12, I would prefer Schwarber or Pentecost
  4. I was more leaning towards Pentecost until I looked up Clint Coulter's numbers: Clint Coulter is having an awesome season in A Ball so far: hitting .292 with 10 HR's in 50 games and a .978 OPS as just a 20 year old, and throwing out 29% of runners Now if the Brewers think Pentecost is truly something special, like the next Buster Posey or something, that'd be one thing. His comparable is more towards Lucroy than Posey, which is still great, but again I see Schwarber as a special special bat
  5. Tucker Neuhaus is hitting .231/.311 in Rookie Ball, which is fine considering he is 18 years old Devin Williams is striking out 10.1 per 9 innings with a 3.38 ERA, which is great considering he is only 18 Victor Roache is struggling this year in Brevard County, but there is time to get it together Clint Coulter is having an awesome season in A Ball so far: hitting .292 with 10 HR's in 50 games and a .978 OPS as just a 20 year old Mitch Haniger is just doing OK in AA ball (.248/.317/.664) so far but looked great in Brewers spring training Tyrone Taylor has been fairly solid playing for Brevard County so far Generally speaking I think the last 2 drafts were pretty good, the jury is still out. I'm pretty excited about Coulter's potential
  6. Maybe its because I've seen more of him, but I can't help thinking Schwarber is going to be a special, special player. The type of hitter who will hit 25-30 HR's, bat .320 with a .440 OBP type of hitter.... and I hate to say it but I can see the Brew Crew passing on him and regretting it for years Pentecost is really good too, and had a big hit vs Alabama to help propel Kennesaw State to the Super Regionals. He isn't just an offensive player either, he is a skilled Catcher. The Brewers have a team option on Lucroy in 2017 and he'll become a 32 year old free agent in 2018, I can see why they would consider a top flight Catcher with the #12 pick. However there is a huge gaping hole in terms of left-handed power hitting in our current lineup, especially at 1B, and Schwarber should be ready to roll at the MLB level in 2016....
  7. I see Pentecost as more of a risk, but the reward is potentially high because it is difficult to find Catchers. I would go with Schwarber though, if he's available at 12. I have no idea if Schwarber will be a Joey Votto type or an Ike Davis type but I'll be shocked if he doesn't contribute at the MLB level and soon. Schwarber is a guy who will likely be an MLB starting 1B in the 2016 season and the Brewers organization is extremely lacking in 1B talent
  8. Hopefully he will continue to increase his walk-rate & OBP but he's currently on pace for 47 Doubles & 27 HR's which really isn't bad for a corner OF
  9. Hi Josh I recognize every player is different and an individual, but how many of the players that you represent get professional instruction on hitting/pitching/fielding during the offseason and if so where? Is there a particular hitting instructor who has had the most success developing players that you represent? I'm always intrigued with how players attempt to elevate their game from year to year especially in the offseason.
  10. Interesting that 1/2 of his walks this season have come in the last 23 at-bats.... hopefully the adjustments he's making will continue
  11. I think the Rangers will be going after Kendrys Morales with more money & more urgency than the Brewers
  12. The power has always been there, the plate discipline wasn't. If you are an MLB pitcher why would you throw Gomez a strike if he's going to chase everything. His plate discipline has improved as has his hitting mechanics (usually). He was rushed too early to the MLB level and suffered because of it....
  13. I liked Gomez at the top of the lineup, seemed to work when we were winning (!) I'd go CF Carlos Gómez RF Ryan Braun 1B Jonathan Lucroy 2B Rickie Weeks SS Jean Segura LF Khris Davis 3B Mark Reynolds C Martín Maldonado RHP Matt Garza
  14. Small sample but Juan Francisco has a 162 OPS+ this year. Cutting him for Overbay was a big mistake. If you believe in WAR, that decision cost us 1.5 wins so far
  15. I sure was wrong when I was so adamant that the Brewers made a mistake not signing Fielder longterm!!!
  16. It was especially troubling because if the Infield had been playing back it was a tailor made double play right there for the taking
  17. Killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious. I will probably watch that 10 times today!!! At least 15 times already today. Will Smith is perhaps the most hilarious of all those goofballs in that video. Obviously this team is highly stressed right now
  18. There is no possible way THAT lineup could win a Major League Baseball game!!!!
  19. He lost today to Kevin Millar in Wiffle Ball HR Derby, so I'd say no!
  20. Think the Red Sox would deal Nava? He's 31 years old and despite his slow start this year had a very solid year last year and has big game and playoff experience. Still a "veteran presence" that RR wants Looking for an upgrade over Overbay. Nava can play OF as well as 1B. He's a switch-hitter, OBP has been consistently 90-100 points over his BA. Career .284 BA/.380 OBP vs RHP
  21. Matt Lepay has been awesome. Love the work he's doing
  22. 1 games at a time (1 pitch at a time!) but I'm loving being wrong about the Brew Crew!
  23. Short IGT's because we are on a 6 game winning streak, on the road, early in the season! I love brewerfan.net!
  24. Ron Roenicke's head might explode without a gritty veteran guy on the bench
  25. I think it is more that he adjusted his hitting mechanics than it was less pain yesterday. MLB hitting is all about evolution, adjusting either to pitchers or your own physical condition. He changed around the padding on his thumb and eliminated the high leg kick.
