  1. Still too small of a sample to really say.... Sometimes I wonder if Weeks will ever learn to stop chasing the outside curve ball. He also seems susceptible to swinging and missing at the high fastball now, too
  2. I have to work tonight but will be putting it on the DVR and checking it out late tonight...looking forward to it
  3. Well yeah, OK I can accept that, though I did find it interesting (even fascinating) in a "what if" scenario. However, there were several players who turned out as good solid MLB contributers that the Brewers passed on to draft lesser players, in multiple years. I don't think it is a stretch to say that our drafting has severely hurt the franchise
  4. Yes, our lack of quality draft picks of pitchers has hurt our franchise very badly. How does a rotation of Adam Wainwright, Jered Weaver, Madison Bumgarner and Yovanni Gallardo sound to you? Pretty amazing, huh? Well of course hindsight is 20/20 but it could've been possible: In 1994 we drafted Antone Williamson when Nomar Garciaparra and Paul Konerko were available In 1995 we drafted Geoff Jenkins when Roy Halladay was available! In 1997 we drafted Kyle Peterson when Lance Berkman was available!!!! In 1998 we drafted J. M. Gold when CC Sabathia & Brad Lidge were available!!!! In 1999 we drafted Ben Sheets In 2000 we picked David Krynzel over Chase Utley and Adam Wainwright In 2001 we picked Mike Jones over Aaron Heilman In 2002 we picked Prince Fielder Drafting Weeks in 2003 was a pretty solid pick, even in retrospect. Who else should we have taken? Paul Maholm? Chad Cordero? In 2004 we picked Mark Rogers when Jered Weaver was available. D'oh!!! In 2005 we picked Ryan Braun In 2006 we picked Jeremy Jeffress over Ian Kennedy, Daniel Bard, Bryan Morris In 2007 we picked Matt LaPorta over Madison Bumgarner In 2008 we picked Brett Lawrie. There would've been no need to trade Lawrie had we properly drafted pitching previous to that pick! In 2010 we drafted Dylan Covey over Zach Lee, Jesse Biddle
  5. I cannot complain about the Greinke trade from KC, because I think Jean Segura is a potential superstar
  6. Morris looked so overmatched in Spring Training that apparently the Brewers brass thinks it is best to give him extra time in AAA to build his confidence and/or work on his mechanics. I think he remains a strong prospect in the Brewers' eyes No idea on Halton though. I believe the thinking with Lalli is that with Maldonado playing so much 1B they want an additional Catcher. I don't completely get that
  7. I think that it is reasonable to assume that once Hart, Ramirez, Green and others return to health, our offense will be much better. What I am intrigued with is watching to see if Mark A completely panics if the losing continues. We've seen him do that before (firing Yost with a week or two left in the season, insisting on being buyers at practically every trade deadline). I think Mark A is always concerned with attendance and (probably rightly in regards to short-term thinking) equates having the team out of contention with disaster at the gate. Regardless of injuries, if the Brewers are this bad at the trade deadline (and they very well could be!) we might see some pretty bizarre moves at that time, including some desperate trades and the firing of various coaches or even the firing of Melvin & Roenicke
  8. Segura looks like someone with the potential to be a perennial All-Star, to me.
  9. Good point. OK, banned for life is excessive. I would also, as commissioner, do away with the Wild-Card play-in game and do away with the All-Star game deciding Home Field in the World Series
  10. If they made me Commissioner the first thing I'd do is ban Bud Selig for life, for all the hypocrisy he showed during the Barry Bonds/Sammy Sosa steroid years. (so they'd never make me Commissioner) The 2nd thing I'd do is put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame The 3rd thing I'd do is get rid of the Designated Hitter
  11. And how can you build an MLB team that is taken seriously enough to sign Kyle Lohse and not have a starting 1B to begin the season?
  12. In what universe is Yuni B more valuable than even Blake Lalli? Not in mine over/under on how long it takes RRR to get Segura out of the 8 hole? 40 games? 80 games? 2 seasons?
  13. A few thoughts after Game 1: Maybe its just me, but it sure seems like it'd be more logical to have Gonzalez at 3B and Ramirez at 1B, wouldn't it? Gonzalez is much better defensively than Ramirez. (Although I realize now that Ramirez has never played 1B in MLB, I thought he had) Segura really should be in the 6 or 7 slot and not the 8 spot. Hopefully he gets out of the 8 slot soon
  14. Go Brewers! I'd rather Segura not be hitting in the 8 slot again. Put Gonzalez or Gomez there. That said, I'm psyched about the new season. Hopefully Yo is sharp this afternoon
  15. Hate to say it but I think the Brewers are legitimately concerned about Braun getting suspended and they want Davis with some MLB experience if that happens
  16. I'm not convinced of that, especially if Posey is mostly a 1B in his later years. And if he remains a catcher into his mid-30's it is doubtful that his offensive numbers will remain as high. I do think it is a smart contract for the Giants, but I do not see Buster Posey more valuable than Ryan Braun, now or especially in the future
  17. I am! Oh, wait, I'm 7 hours and 15 minutes early for April Fools Day!
  18. How? In what capacity if Hart is resigned? They are both blocked.....
  19. the energy/emotion might change about Morris but the point isn't so much about Morris specifically it is about needing to not extend every above average player and instead develop some talent at 1B Really the simpler solution is putting Braun at 1B and Khris Davis in LF if Davis is for real
  20. Gallardo & Lohse and pray for rain D'oh! The Roof at Miller Park! Actually I do like Peralta's potential. Hopefully Fiers can figure it out.
  21. I've seen talk of Mark A saying they are interested in resigning Hart. I like Corey well enough, but he's a .335 OBP guy with 25-30 HR's per season, which really is only OK production at 1B. Why would you tie up money in Hart and block Hunter Morris when that money could be better spent elsewhere? edit: Plus Hart is 30 years old and getting slower every year.
  22. As long as Mark A is our owner we will never rebuild. We will always be, perpetually, the team with the "win now" mentality, going after that Division Title or Wild-Card spot
  23. I will almost guarantee you that if Segura goes 0 for his first 3 games, Yuni B will start Game 4.... might even be if Segura goes 0 for his first 2 games. Time to pray that Jean starts the season out hot
  24. This is exactly correct. That one decision is enough to not allow me to ever have complete faith in RR, and oh I wish that was the only major mistake that RR has made!
