  1. Burnes - 2 Innings Soria - 1 Inning Hader - 2 Innings Knebel - 2 Innings Jeffress -1 or 2 Innings Realistically, how often can the Brewers do that? Games 1, 3, 5, 7? Something like that with off days. If you can get a good game or two out of Chacin and ideally our offense goes off for a game or two, putting up 7-8 runs so we can rest our top pitchers, I like our chances.
  2. 100% correct. As Brewers fans we want the Braves-Dodgers series to go to 5 games, preferably going into extra innings in both games 4 & 5. Let them use up and exhaust their pitching staffs
  3. Yelich in 2018 was light years better defensively than Braun 2011 & Fielder 2009 and arguably was better defensively than Yount '82. When you factor in the defense as well as the role his production played in an improbable comeback in the second half and down the stretch to win the division title, I'd say that 2018 Yelich was the best regular season in Brewers history.
  4. Brewers!!!!! Brewers!!!!! Brewers!!!!! Brewers!!!!! What an incredible season, and what an important W!!! Home field throughout the NL postseason. Let's do this!!!!
  5. We were at today's game. What an atmosphere! Such a fun season, why not let's play one more!!!! Staying home tomorrow and watching in our living room. Letting my kid stay home from school to watch it, too. He is a hardcore die hard Brewers fan. He's 15 years old, he doesn't remember the 2008 season as he was just 5 years old. 2009 is the first season he remembers. To him, 2011 was the only Brewers postseason of his life. School is important. Baseball is importanter.
  6. We'll see. Would have to at least go to the World Series if this team is as good or better than the '82 Brewers. I do think Stearns is the best Brewers GM ever.
  7. If I was an owner of another franchise I'd absolutely be looking at bringing in people from the Brewers' front office. The turnaround that the Brewers have made under Stearns has been nothing short of phenomenal.
  8. Well even this Mike Trout fan might have to admit that Mookie Betts is pulling away in the AL MVP race. Meanwhile, in the NL, it's gotta be Yelich!
  9. Personally, I would absolutely love that!!!! As in jumping up & down like a kid on Christmas morning love it! And I hope Chris Carpenter is watching and mutters "what about the children?" And I hope Brian Kenny interviews Tony LaRussa tomorrow and Tony calls it a "travesty to the traditions and history of our national pastime." Love it!!!
  10. Baez is way ahead in terms of defensive value, arguably light years ahead. To have a plus plus glove at SS, 2B, & 3B is incredibly valuable. And supposedly Baez is ahead if the Cubs win the division and the Brewers are "just" a wildcard team. But I'm not buying that "playing on a great team" thing in the slightest. At any rate, my vote is for Yelich. Yelich has, what (?), 60 points on him in OBP?
  11. I will be fascinated to see how Counsell uses the pitchers in this game, as I believe "pitching the bullpen" will be an increasingly frequent strategy for all MLB teams in future seasons... Lots of ways you can do this... It'll be "must see TV" for me
  12. Not a starting pitcher, and relief pitchers are plenty unpredictable, but Blake Treinen is a player I would target in a trade. The A's tend to move players once they hit arbitration. Yes the Brewers' bullpen is already a strength, but I think MLB will continue to make bullpen usage a significant part of an overall pitching strategy (i.e. You can never have too many relief aces) Adding Treinen to Hader, Knebel, Jeffress etc could potentially make the Brewers pitching staff better than most free agent starting pitcher acquisitions.
  13. There is not a GM ever who would trade Mike Trout for Mookie Betts straight up. But every GM in the world would take Trout in a heartbeat if all they had to give up is Betts. Now that doesn't speak to who is more "valuable" in this particular season but it does lend some perspective. Great CF's are in general much more difficult to find than great RF's. Defensively a great CF is significantly more valuable than a great RF Trout vs RHP this season: .321/.463/.662 Betts vs RHP this season: .331/.421/.589 Both great, but Betts has feasted more on LHP's in 118 AB's, but a majority of MLB starting pitchers are RHP's Meanwhile, you guys do realize that Betts has played 3 less games than Trout this season, right? Are you arguing that neither deserve the MVP Award?
  14. Betts is close in terms of defensive value, however Trout plays CF not RF. Trout has a .461 OBP, Betts .432... Betts has 30 HR's in 502 AB's, Trout has 37 HR's in 452 AB's. Trout has a better stolen base percentage. Betts has a better batting average and has the advantage of playing on the East Coast. I really don't think it is close.... Trout has been historically great this season. Betts isn't even having a Top Ten RF of All Time season. Let me explain it like this: Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, & Ken Griffey Jr. never had an error free season. Mays & Griffey never had a .450+ OBP season. Mantle did, three times, but he didn't combine it with the stolen bases and defense. If you look at all the Value that Trout brings to the table, the combination of Speed & Power & Defense: SB's, HR's, OBP, & error free defense. It really has been one of the greatest CF seasons of All Time.
  15. The only seasons to meet this criteria ever are Trout 2018, Larry Walker 1997 and Barry Bonds 1993. Exactly. However, neither Bonds or Walker were CF 's, and most importantly: neither of them had zero errors on defense.
  16. DeGrom has a 0.94 WHIP. His ERA+ is 209. He is decidedly not having close to an All Time Great season. A Cy Young type season, sure? But they give two of those out every year. Pedro Martinez 2000 0.73 WHIP, 291 ERA+ ... Now that is an All-Time Great season. Hader, actually, is having an All Time Great season for a relief pitcher. I think they'll give the MVP to Baez unless he fails miserably in the last several games of the season. Meanwhile, Mike Trout deserves the AL MVP. It actually isn't that close. Find me another CF in the history of Baseball with Trout's combination of his HR rate this season, .450+ OBP, 24+ steals, his stolen base percentage (24 of 26 attempts) and zero errors on defense. Go ahead, I'll wait.
  17. Can the Brewers actually take the division!!!!? Man oh man that'd be incredible
  18. Arcia is hitting .260 in the second half with elite defense. Stories of his demise are greatly exaggerated.
  19. I like Corbin a lot, in terms of his age and the way his Walk rate & HR rate are trending lower. A team like the Yankees (or Cubs) will go after him aggressively. I really hope Kershaw opts for free agency and there is a huge bidding war for him, and with Keuchel in the mix perhaps the Brewers might have a shot at Corbin. I think Stearns will try to make a big splash with pitching like he did with Yelich/Cain this past offseason, but he won't overpay, we've seen that.
  20. Thames is a success from a scouting standpoint in terms of a player who has contributed positively at the MLB level. To answer clancyphile's question, I would love for the next Japan/KBO success to be a pitcher or two....I have long thought that international free agency could serve to close the gap more for small market teams competing against teams with bigger budgets. I'd love for the Brewers to be more aggressive in going after players from the Dominican Republic, Cuba & Japan.
  21. The casual Brewers fans continue to be an embarrassment. Yes I suppose they are no worse than the casual fans of any other team, but that doesn't lessen the embarrassment. Just my opinion.
  22. I'd like to see them go out and trade for or sign as a free agent another slightly under the radar pitcher like Chacin. A ground ball pitcher who won't break the bank but will help the team. Burnes Anderson Chacin Peralta ? Agree trading Davies would be good. Trade Woodruff too if he's the Villar/Scooter of pitchers and you don't value him and aren't going to use him.
  23. I mean even my 9 year old nephew can tell you that Jennings is not the guy you go to with the game on the line
