  1. I will echo what others have said here is really wanting a pitcher at #9 in 2017. There are quite a few in this draft who make sense at that spot, including a bunch of high school arms. I was hoping the Brewers could be awful enough in 2016 to land Hunter Greene but no such "luck"
  2. I'm a Packers fan. I just don't think they are that good this year. In today's NFL with extreme parity they are yet another of a multitude of 8-8 teams that could be 10-6 and go one & done in the playoffs. It happens. I still enjoy watching them. They need more explosive playmakers & speed on offense. When Clay is out the defense is just OK to slightly above average. I have no illusions of them being title contenders this year so I'm not spending much time pointing fingers
  3. thanks nate82 & Baldkin for the responses. Kinda blows my mind a little. I guess I'm used to Brewers type prices. $100 for right behind the plate if you want to splurge and lots of very good seats in the $45 range. I wanted to take my kid to see Lebron or Steph Curry, in the same way as when I was his age someone took me to the Mecca to see Larry Bird, but not at those prices! Guess I'll play the lottery, cheer for the Bucks on TV and go if I get freebie tickets again!
  4. We went to our first Bucks game tonight and had a blast. Received free tickets from my cousin. Really a fun atmosphere, and my kid had a great time. Thought to myself, we should go to more Bucks games this year. Checked Stub Hub and courtside/1st level tickets for Cavs or Warriors games are $1000+ a piece? Say what?! And 400 level seats are $55+ each. Even against poor teams 1st level seats are $300 each. Is it really like that?
  5. There is still plenty of room on this roster for a guy like Broxton in the starting OF if he can prove that the 2nd half of 2016 wasn't an aberration. Especially if Braun is traded. A 2018 outfield of Brinson/Phillips/Broxton would be a pretty outstanding defensive outfield. Very true, good point. With the Brewers loaded up on OF prospects it will definitely be a battle for playing time. Competition is a good thing. Let's see who outworks and outproduces who. My thought is, though, while Keon was getting wasted and causing a scene, Lewis and/or Brett and/or Domingo and/or Corey etc (or all of them) were going to bed early and got up and worked out for 4-5 hours the next day. Obviously this one incident won't kill Keon's career, however it does give one pause..... of course Ty Cobb & Babe Ruth did far worse and seemed capable of excellence.
  6. further cementing his role as Mr Brinson's backup
  7. I'm hoping the Brewers trade Guerra for pitching prospects. He's an injury waiting to happen. Morton seems like a good "buy-low" candidate, however by the time the Brewers are ready to contend again how good is he gonna be?
  8. Dexter Fowler is also a FA, but we probably have enough outfielders. . Cubs & Fowler have an option on the contract for 2017. Think Dexter will opt out? I'm not convinced, but after his year he had he'd be looking at a huge payday
  9. I don't understand this. Could you explain why? . I just really value pitching. If you have to trade a pitcher because he's nearing free agency, fine, but get pitching prospects for him. Players like Adam Lind are a dime a dozen. See: Chris Carter. And multiple others. The only way to contend is to accumulate great pitching. Any pitching asset should either be kept or traded for more pitching. Just my opinion. (*edited for spelling)
  10. After the Estrada-Lind trade I sincerely hope we no longer trade pitchers for position players
  11. Depressed. But I'll get over it in a few hours Go Brewers!!!!!
  12. good move going with the veterans Davis & Crisp in the starting lineup
  13. I have yet to understand the appeal of Lonnie Chisenhall. Career OPS+ of less than 100 and he looks like Carlos Lee on defense. I guess he had that one semi-good year in 2014, and he's likely starting because of Brantley's injury but wow, I think the Brewers might have 6 or 7 OF's better than him. I think Brandon Guyer is better although stats seem to show that Guyer can only hit LHP's
  14. man, I have a feeling the Cubs are gonna come back and win this thing. Really hope I'm wrong Arrieta/Hendricks is a tough 2 games
  15. Even a traditionalist like me is in favor of Robot Umps calling balls & strikes after this World Series
  16. Interesting seeing Santana batting leadoff. He has one of the best OBP on the Indians but is really slow. Naquin actually has a higher OBP and is a lot faster than Santana but is a rookie. Santana had a .380 OBP batting leadoff this year. Playing him in LF is even more interesting. He is a huge defensive liability out there Not to overstate the obvious but what a huge game tonight. Looks like a "must win" for the Cubs tonight when it is Kluber vs Lackey in Game 4
  17. the words "bizarre" and "weird" come to mind. Never underestimate the paranoia, egomania & general pretentiousness of TV personalities, however.
  18. Um...Zach Britton - the guy that has a fairly decent shot at winning the AL Cy Young this year. Inexcusable to leave him in the pen for this game just because the Orioles were never presented with a 'save situation'. Guess he'll be available for the save next Opening Day. Exactly! Thank you I probably will DVR "MLB Now" tomorrow just to hear Brian Kenny rant & rave about this exact topic.
  19. Well said! When I heard he was fired I said "really wish he had stuck around, maybe we could have traded Hernan Perez for Paul Goldschmidt"
  20. Perez is 5th on the Brewers in WAR despite only playing in 116 games (4th actually since Lucroy is no longer on the team). He has value. Not saying he should be extended but he's a valuable piece moving forwards.
  21. Scooter Gennett has been one of my favorite players for awhile now. The fact that he would take the time to sign my kid's ticket stub before tonight's game makes me think that much more of him. Very cool
  22. Usually deadline acquisitions are short term rentals. The Brewers need tons of pitching talent that they can control for 5-6 years, in order to have a shot at sustained contention. I do agree that a surplus of capable CF's can give them trade chips moving forwards
  23. I believe strongly in the saying "you can never have too much pitching". Pitchers are so unpredictable and in general the position is injury prone, therefore I would love to see the Brewers stockpile as much pitching as possible. I apologize for going off topic. Brinson projects as a potential star but Broxton is really impressive defensively and hit really well for awhile there
  24. I would think Broxton is the guy if he can continue to hit. I remain somewhat confused as to the Corey Ray pick, considering Broxton and then the trade for Brinson. Granted, at the time Broxton wasn't hitting yet and Brinson hadn't been traded for yet. I would hope that the focus will be on the acquisition of pitching as we move into the 2017 phase of the rebuild. Having said that, I think Stearns is extremely impressive so far.
  25. His career MiLB stats show that he walks at about a .065 rate higher than his BA .280/.345 , that is similar to Braun. I'll take that.
